Can I do this?
Logos has a commentary set for sale on its site and I was thinking about purchasing it so while I was doing some research on it I found the authors website (He is still alive mid 60'S) any way I noticed that he had all the commentary books on his website for free in PDF download.
I downloaded all the books 62 total I think some books are combined like 1st and 2nd books I was turning each pdf into a docx file and making a personal book out of them instead of purchasing it from logos at their large price.
since the author has it for free on His website can I post a zip file of the book with his cover art for everyone here so you don't have to buy it or make it yourself?

I could be wrong, so you may wait for another user with a more affirmative answer. The technical answer would be yes, as long as author has given permission for free distribution. However, some may be opposed for it cutting into Logos' profit; however, if that's the case, I can't see how they'd be able to approve of anything in this thread.

Hi Bryan. Logos has in the past asked users not to use the Logos forums to post Personal Book versions of resources they sell. I can't remember where I saw this post, however this convention has generally been respected. I guess it's pretty reasonable since we'd otherwise be using their own forums to take potential business away from them! [:)]

There is a page on the wiki for sharing personal books. Thanks!

Same principle. It's still Logos servers, and they'd rather not host files that are books which they also sell, as it would cannibalize their profits. You could post here that you have the file available and if anyone is interested they should email you and you can send it to them. That's about as far as I think Logos would feel comfortable letting you do on their servers, but even that is a bit iffy.
Actually the wiki page for user-contributed personal books just has links to the Files forum post where the document is uploaded. Technically you can't share personal books directly on the wiki. You could perhaps put it on some other web server space you have access too (there are loads of free options out there) and then put a link to it here in the Files forum and/or on the wiki.

I could e-mail anybody who wants it a link to my cloud folder so they could download it, would that be ok? Or I could just post the link here is that ok?

Yup, that would be OK. I'd recommend not putting your email address in a public forum like this. Rather encode it in some clever human-readable but spambot-proof format (such as "john dot doe at that email site owned by google").

The fact that something's on the web doesn't mean that the author/publisher has given up his copyright. You can certainly download them for yourself, but in order to legally share them with others, you need an explicit permission both to alter the files and to distribute them, either on the website or directly from the author.

What is the theological bias of the commentaries? Arminian, Calvinist, Dispensational, etc?

If you are talking about the commentary I think you are (by a certain DTS prof), the version Logos sells is a quite old one and one of the books still prepared by Galaxie instead of FaithLife. I ordered the commentary in Logos (highly recommended) and also have the PDFs, but not as Personal Books. I think I must be using personal books wrong, it takes longer to search a few than my entire library and I have a hard time fitting that into a realistic workflow.
