Author Gender Identity Issue

https://vyrso.com/product/43730/transit-taking-you-closer-to-god
In the description of this book it states that the author is male e.g.
Fifteen years ago, Shawn Johnson was a suicidal drug abuser working in Hollywood. He wondered if God could ever be a part of his broken life. To his surprise, finding God was not that difficult. But, growing closer to Him was another story.
but then in the author description it suggests the author won medals at the Olympics in Women's Gymnastics:
Shawn Johnson is an Olympic gold and three-time silver medalist in women's gymnastics.
While I guess one can't discount the author having had a gender re-assignment procedure, I'm guessing the linked author information is incorrect.

Hey guys... this certainly has me completely confused as well (pardon the ignorance, I'm a Canadian who doesn't follow women's gymnastics anyway...) So is Shawn Johnson a man or a woman? The author description makes it sound like she's a woman... but the book description sounds like a man...?

Yep. Here is the real Shawn Johnson (Pastor of Red Rocks Church in Golden, Colorado):

Both. Just not the same person. There is a famous gymnast with the same name.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! The author information and bio section should be updated with the correct information.

Were he actually transgendered. The preferred process is to always refer to him as his innate gender rather than birth gender (a great many times birth gender has been ambiguous and doctors have forced girlhood on boys ). Although I know of one very talented singer in Calgary who insists on being referred to as they/them. Rae Spoon's current album has more that a few songs dealing with their faith, having been raised in an unfortunately abusive household. I realize most on these forums would care to only recognize birth gender but knowing the preferences of some and how sensitive they can be I thought I would clarify protocol as you may well encounter transgendered individuals.
