Missing ESV Reverse Interlinear
I am unable to locate the new and old testament reverse interlinears. Am I missing something? in the Release notes mention was made of a reverse interlinear pane.

Interlinears are no longer separate resources from the English Bibles. Instead, English Bibles (and some other resources) have built-in interlinears. Just click the Interlinear button to display the interlinear text below.

I really really really like this feature.

Hi Phil
The Interlinear pane will take some getting used to. It is similar to the Pradis program from Zondervan. I have not used Pradis for this purpose because I find it a little complicated and it is not easy on the eyes. However I wil say the L4 version is clearer.
Will the pane be customizable to select and deselect the various components wanted (eg add or remove Strong's numbers?

Ian,
Good question, and also the front of my interlinear pane is always "cut off" no matter which interlinear it is; someone else reported this behavior also.

The front end of my interlinear does not appear to be cut off. Have you tried viewing it in "Reading View" and does it have enough space to display the misssing parts? - not that that is particularly useful when you are in the middle of a study of a passage!

Phil sorry to be blunt but this new layout is next to useless for me, this is how I use the current v3 one with a morphology philter, I can see a passage an pick out the key verses/tenses at a overview glance, if something like this is not able to be replicated I will be reluctant to make the move from v3-4, please remember the whole selling point of these was for no greek speakers (are we to be dicriminated against now?)

I agree Dominic. The visuals in v3 are far more usable with filters. I have not been trained in Greek or Hebrew but have decided to learn both. The v3 format is a great help.
If the v4 format does not look like v3, I will have to keep using v3 for original language study!

Till I get the program working so I can work with these things I'm guess I can comment to directly but from the screen shots people have been posting this thing does look very much like Pradis. I hope it is no where near as clunky and that we can still postion resources where we want them, rather than have the program dicate everthing to us for window postion like Pradis does.

John,
Sounds like you might have had the same installation error Philip did; please try the link I posted for him at: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/791/6984.aspx#6984

This way, we get the convenience of having it at the bottom (scrolling with the text would be nice) and then for those who want to see larger swaths of Scripture, they could just click a button to float the interlinear.0 -
I have not been able to get the hang of the new way. Seems like I am not understanding something.
I will keep trying, but so far this feature is better in v3.

You can apply a filter to the text. I would think it would actually be more readable for none Greek students in the 4.0 incarnation. On the left is the visual filter highlighting all the verbs. You can limit this to just some verbs or have different verbal forms marked differently. then click on the highlighted word and the interlinear information shows up. I prefer this method. I found the separate interlinear files did not show enough of the passage for me.

Thanks Philip, I'll give it a try

No need to apologize for being blunt, Dominic. We want your feedback—both the good and the bad.
Philip beat me to the punch, but I'm curious if this solution accomplishes what you need.

Thanks for the feedback. Our thought was that having multiple versions of a Bible (say, ESV, ESV NT RevInt, ESV OT RevInt, etc.) was confusing, and that for many people the desire to consult the reverse interlinear comes while reading the text, not beforehand. So we integrated the resources into the one conceptual book (just "ESV" in the Library) and made it available at anytime.
I imagined that wrapping the text with 4 or 5 lines of data just used to much screen space and made it too hard to read.
If we applied the filters to the reverse interlinear lines as well as the surface, and let you drag the buttom half higher, showing multiple reverse interlinear lines, would that meet your needs?

Where do we find the "how to" on visual filters. I see Philip using "@V" to highlight verbs. What are the other query options?

I read in another post that the menus from the morph search just didn't make it over yet to the visual filter dialog. if you create your filter in the morph search you should be able to cut and paste it to the visual filter. Just start it out with @ and it will give you the other options.

Thanks Philip... Found It!!!

You can enter any of the morph codes from the Morph Search, so you can use that to generate the syntax for you. And new to Logos 4 is the ability to enter any search term and apply a filter to just about any resource (e.g., faith or "in Christ").

well its better than nothing, but would rather have the option to have the greek text there, as I often then do then right click an "Bible Word Study" on the geek text,, I am picking up greek slowly by reading both together.
I guess it will still do that
I will have to live with the extra mouse click to focus the text in the new window, tho IMO you cant call it an interlinear any more because it isnt.. not in the old or current publishing sense or not even the Logos Interlinear Traditional sense, if you call it as such I think there will be lots of dissapointed purchasers out there..

I have to agree with Dominic - I have come to use the RevInt for all my study and I would keep v3 just for my original language study to keep it. The ESV reverse interlinear has revolutionized the way I do all my original language studies and I think it deserves to be a separate resourse for those who use it so often. BTW thanks for the ESV reverse int.

Bob,
I have no problem with the interlinear at the bottom but how about a compromise?
Either:
1.) The ability to raise the lower pane at will; thereby viewing more lines at a time
or
2.) as the other poster said...the ability to "pop" the window out...

Bob, FWIW, I think the ability to drag the interlinear lines higher would be a brilliant solution. I actually tried to do that with the dividing bar when I was playing around on my first day with 4.0 and felt sad when I couldn't....

This would be better than what we have currently offered. As it stands it is far too confusing have to look back up and down the page and try and marry up the filters with the orginal langues data, your eyes end up becoming the tennis balls in a game of visual and too much effort has to be put into the processing what is on the screen rather than being focussed on the content. To be honest I see the new layout as a backwards step in terms of ease of use and strain being placed on the eyes. However, if you implement this suggest it would at least moves us a little bit closer back to what Logos 3.0 offers and that would be much appreciated.

I think it would be great to be able to have a right-click menu appear from the search field that contains all of the various query options. It would be more useful than a help screen that might not be found, and it would really flatten the learning curve for those non-power-users.

I see in another post by Phil that the interlinear is not fully displayed but centred on the last seleted word. If this is the case then this detracts from this suggest getting us back closer to what we had in v3.0 because you will still need to play visual tennis between the two sections to esnure you actually get all the highlifts as some of the highlights in the interlinear section might be off-screen and you miss them unless you go back up to the main text section to first find them.

A draggable split point would be great - the Interlinear just doesn't show enough text to be useful for reading.
