Inactive Bible References in Vyrso Resources

I’ve heard complaints about this before but this is my first experience with inactive Bible references in a Vyrso resource. I bought Mike McKinley’s Passion specifically for my Holy Week devotional reading and none of the Bible references are active. I guess it’s because of the way they’re written (Luke 22 v 39-46 – why was it written like this anyway??? *cries*).

I’m very disappointed because I have to get out of the book every time I want to check out a reference. I’m wondering if this method of writing Bible references is unique to the author or if this is the way the publisher does it. If the latter, I’ll think more than twice about buying another Good Book Company resource from Vyrso Sad

The good news? You are right. [:s] Vyrso auto hyperlinks scriptures, but when the resource doesn't use a clear standard format, the compiler doesn't know what to do. [:(] I know nothing of this publisher or its resources, so I can't speak about them.

The good news? You are right. Vyrso auto hyperlinks scriptures, but when the resource doesn't use a clear standard format, the compiler doesn't know what to do. I know nothing of this publisher or its resources, so I can't speak about them.

One possibility would be to try and export the book to Word and build it as PBB (correcting the links).

I wanted to do this myself and buy the resource, but it seems the Vyrso shop is broken currently.

I thought of this (it is a small book) but then I won't be able to access it from the iOS app, which is where I do the majority of my non-study reading. I've resorted to using two panels (a layout I don't like), with the Bible at the bottom. It's not ideal but it works.

Strange! I've never seen a Bible reference written that way before. Even though it's non-standard, it's uniform enough throughout that book that it might warrant Faithlife updating its Vyrso book compiler to recognize that particular format and be able to convert it correctly.

There are other times when verses are referred to away from the immediate context of what book or chapter is under discussion (what Morris Proctor talks about in this video as Non-Recognizable Bible Reference Hyperlinks). Earlier in a he paragraph the author might have mentioned Luke 22 and now she writes about "verses 39-46." There's no way the compiler can go back and sift through the context and try to humanly decide which chapter is meant. Those kinds of references have to be done manually, and since Faithlife doesn't do any manual work on converting books to Vyrso eBook format (there isn't enough margin in them to warrant it) they are left unlinked, I'm pretty sure. But something like Luke 22 v 39-46 should be doable in an automated way.

I think, it just keeps the last working reference chapter in memory and then adds the verses (which often will work - and sometimes be totally off).

I just picked up another Good Book Company title (Eternity Changes Everything) and the Bible references are written the same way, so it must be a publisher thing. I wasn't paying attention when I bought it [8-)] Oh well, it was only $0.99 *shrug*
