Signaling

Do our church members need to be connected to the church's wireless internet to use signaling on their remote devices? Also, what app do they need to see our church presentation on their mobile device? Can I signal every slide to their mobile device? I'm a newbie to Proclaim. I am training new group group members by using skype to talk to them at their home while we train on Proclaim. Works great!

The Bible and Faithlife Study Bible apps enable users to pick up on signals - but not to see the actual slides

The Proclaim Remote app is required if you want people to see all of the slides - there are two modes, one of which provides Control capability and one provides "Follow". I think that you need Group rights to allow you to control the presentation but not totally sure of the mechanics here.

Graham, just seeing this by chance (normally I'm not reading the Proclaim forum regularly), but your answer sounds imprecise to me. My (potentially wrong) assumption would have been that "No, only an internet connection with Location Based Services is required" since I understood that the Faithlife apps access the GPS location of the device and determine that someone is in the same church building [don't know what happens if a kid's/children service uses Proclaim in the basement at the same time as the main service in the auditorium - probably the kids wouldn't be interested in the signals] - i.e. I understood the question to focus on "the church's wireless" more than "internet". And from all the issues that may go wrong on the church's wireless, I'd rather not have the congregation clog the production network...

The point I was trying to make is that an Internet connection is required. It can be the church wireless (assuming that provides a path to the Internet) but it doesn't need to be.

This isn't quite accurate. It does make use of the device "Location" services but isn't dependent on GPS. For example, it works on my wifi-based iPad Air which doesn't have a GPS chip. The key determinant is whether Location services puts it within 1000 metres of the broadcasting computer - and it will determne location using different networks as available.

And from all the issues that may go wrong on the church's wireless, I'd rather not have the congregation clog the production network...

I understand that a lot of churches use the church wireless for this sort of thing - some have set up "public" and "private" networks over the same infrastructure to avoid the issues you refer to.

It seems the answer is: They need internet connection and their device needs to be able to determine its location.

It's up to you whether you provide internet access to the congregation or not - but if not, there needs to be another way for them to access the internet, such as cell-phone coverage.

Yes that is correct - so long as the location services used by Verixon determines that it is within 1000 metres of the broadcasting computer.

This does require that you have set up the destination information correctly within Proclaim.
