Resource for free eBooks
You will find a "boat load" of free ebooks at http://www.monergism.com/ just by searching. The site offers epub and mobi format books but the great thing is that you can take the epub file, use the free calibre e-book tool (http://calibre-ebook.com/) and convert the epub to the rtf format. Then open the rtf in Word, save the book cover as a jpg file, then save the rtf as a docx file and now you have the makings for a new personal book for your Logos collection.
So while this post does not include a file it does provide information on where to find many :-)

Hi Lionel. Thanks for the heads-up.
One thing to consider when converting using Calibre: When the RTF is converted to .docx and compiled as a PB, the images (if any) will be lost, unless you go to the trouble of saving the image separately and inserting it back into the document. It's related to the compiler needing a source location of the image. If, however, you convert to the HTMLZ format, which is a compressed HTML format, and uncompress it (I use 7Zip), the resulting HTML file can be opened in your browser, copied, and pasted into Word. The resulting .docx will compile and the images will be in the PB.
After all that bloviating, the many fine ebooks at Monergism aren't likely to have a lot of images, as they are mostly Puritans and a few books by the Triablogue guys. But it might be useful later on.

Robert great points. The only images I've found have been the book covers. What I'd like is for the table of contents to be live links. I'll try the htmlz and see if that is better.

It's interesting how different sources, when converted, yield widely varying results when it comes to heading formats. Some ebooks convert with beautifully consistent heading formats, that when compiled, produce PBs with multi-levels of TOC headings right out of the conversion. Others take a fair amount of intervention to get a good TOC. You never know what you're going to get.
It's possible that the heading formats might be better preserved using the HTMLZ format, but I'm not sure.

I have talked with the owner of the Monergism.com site and offered to be a volunteer to convert the public domain ebooks into docx files for use as such and as potential use as personal books in Logos.
A concern is what if a public domain ebook, that now becomes a docx and then a PBB , should already be available in an existing Logos resource?
Any words of wisdom to avoid a problem with Faithlife?

Well..... PBB are to be for personal use. However, technically you and I can download the same public domain work and make the PBB ourselves and there isn't really much FaithLife can say about it. That, after all, is the nature of Public Domain. Plus, it's not really the same work because it wouldn't have any tagging.

As David says, if you share them off of this site there isn't much that Faithlife can (or should) say. But they do ask that we not make them available on this site (using this site which they provide to undercut products which they are trying to sell also on this site.
Just courtesy.
I have posted a few resources that are on community funding (eastern religion resources particularly) with the promise that at whatsoever time there eastern religions package (which has been in community funding forever) actually becomes available as a for-purchase product, that I will ask that my free PBBs be removed from this forum.
