Dragon Assistant

I'm hoping someone using dragon assistant can help me. I recently got a new computer with dragon assistant loaded on it but I can't get I it to work with Logos 6. I know it will work with Logos 6 but I need to know how to train dragon assistant to work with Logos 6. Any help will be appreciated.

What are you wanting it to do? Welcome by the way. If you are wanting it for dictation here is what their website says:

Dictate anywhere: Dictate into most websites as well as in some text editors and chat clients.

My guess is it isn't supported in Logos.

Rick, are you using a Mac or a PC? If you're on a Mac, I know that it has a built-in text to speech feature that works great with Logos and I use it all the time. Simply open the resource you want Logos to read and then press Cmd + R. You'll notice a play/pause button shows up in the top right corner of the window along with speed settings.

If you're on a PC, well then maybe someone else can let you know if PC has an equivalent, as I'm mainly just a Mac guy. I hope this helps!

I was forced to go to this a while back and it does work. If applicable, Mac is a specifically version of the software (Dictate for Mac). For Greek and Hebrew I find it does not work well, but that is in part due to me not switching to those languages when dictating - this is time consuming, so I just enter spell mode and transliterate.

That is for Naturally Speaking (also Dragon) which is a premium software. Assistant is what they are starting to bundle with some Windows machines.

If (like me) you are a bit strapped for cash, I found that a cheapy wired headset combined with a Lindy USB adapter gives good enough results with Dragon Naturally Speaking for normal dictation (using Win7 64) & should be at least as satisfactory with Assistant. Why use a USB adapter? It handles the analogue to digital conversion with its own sound card rather than handing it over to the built in sound card when the computer is likely to be already occupied on other activities. It also gives far better results with Skype etc for minimal cost and usually seems to outlive the cheapy headsets.

Before my version of Dragon died with the Yosemite upgrade, I was told to plug directly into the computer, not a hub.

I am an attorney and use Dragon NaturallySpeaking every day. Unfortunately, Dragon does not work at all in controlling the menu bar in Logos. You can use dictation software to replace your keyboard, but not to replace your mouse.

You can use Dragon to dictate notes. (I am doing that here.) But the interface between the two programs does not allow you to use the dictation software to control Logos where a mouse is most commonly used. Even the premium edition of Dragon naturally speaking effectively supports only the most common business applications. Even here, I have to dictate into a Dragon dictation box and then click transfer to move it into this note. I felt this helps.
