Pastoral/Local Church Legal Issues Bundle

This morning Andrews Seminary professor Nick Miller phoned and proposed a new bundle for pastors and local churches to cover legal issues that all of you must master to do your job and avoid stumbling into trouble. He has taught this at the seminary for credit, and has amassed a trove of information of potential value not only to SDA pastors but all clergy.

I'm anticipating this will become a legal issues bundle as well as perhaps a Mobile Ed course.

Nick is on board with Logos--one more voice at the Seminary in our favor.

He will be sending me a link that I'll post when I get it, so you can see what we're talking about. I'll want your advice about how to proceed.

Thanks,

Martin

    Martin,

As an elder and lay person this type of information could be invaluable when making local board and committee decisions. Look forward to further information.

Sounds great! Nick Miller was a lawyer before he turned his attention to church history and religious liberty issues, so his dual competency is very valuable.

I'm excited to hear about this.  I've been wanting to take this course but it hasn't worked out with my schedule, he seems to always teach it in May.

Maybe Logos could prepare a Mobile Ed course that Dr. Miller teaches his class using the recommended tools in Logos?  That would be huge.  I honestly think, based on friends that have taken his class, that if Logos does a Mobile Ed with him- it's not just for SDA pastors but all pastors!  It would be a huge seller for Logos in the Mobil ed arena.  It would the first of its kind, a "pioneer" thing if you will.  Dr. Weber, you'll look like an innovator if you get this one in Mobil Ed...

I'm very excited about this! :) We need all the voices we can get at the Seminary in favor of Logos. Our whole church will be in a better place because of it eventually.

I'll look forward to checking this out, thanks for sharing, Martin!

I would love to have a Mobile Ed course on this!

In fact I discussed this with Nick. He is amenable to do that. The issue is whether Logos can work this into their schedule--I'm lobbying for it!

Any luck on that link yet, Martin? :) I'm curious to see it. :)

Logos Mobile Ed asked me to formally connect me with Nick, and so they are talking. As enthusiastic as Nick is, I'm sure it's going to happen. Probably this fall, since LME is booked tight. This is a gateway for much more. Jon Paulien told me that working with LME may well be his legacy. We are talking about getting him back to do another course teaching religion to science majors (who often lose their faith). First, we've got to sell a lot of his first courses--and I'm hoping that will happen in Texas.

I called Logos and I put in my order for it the other day! :)

    nice to hear that

Martin, did you post the link already?

I would like to have a look at it

Here's the link to Nick's general website, but the pastoral legal information is not accessible--available only to those who have purchased his course. (I wasn't aware of that when I mentioned it.)
