Windows 10

Having just been asked by Microsoft to reserve my free upgrade to Windows 10, it got me wondering what the testing of Proclaim with Window 10 has been like. I know that Logos 6 appears to have no problems with Windows 10 (from a thread on that subject.) However I can't find a thread on Windows 10 and Proclaim. If you're running one of the Technical Previews for Windows 10 and the latest version of Proclaim, I'd appreciate knowing your experience.

I have done a bit of testing on it and haven't run into any outstanding issues. I am doing some more today; however it seems to be working well!

Have you had issues with slow down or anything? I am running the latest windows 10 build, really like the new os, however when I try and use proclaim it bogs down, won't load slides properly, and just hangs. This on a 2.3 ghz quad core machine with 12 gig of ram. Could be some tweeks I need to make, thanks.

From my initial testing, Proclaim runs well on Windows 10. All functionality works as it should.

Hello Colin! I wanted to document my install experience since it was a bit strange. It is working for me now without any issues. But I did have problems getting it installed for the first time.

For testing the install I am using a Lenovo T430s laptop, 8GB RAM, Intel Core i5 3320m, 128gb Samsung 840 EVO SSD. OS installed is Windows 10 Pro Preview build 10330 64-bit (Late May 2015 preview release on the 'fast ring' of Windows Insider releases). The .NET 3.5 feature is installed and Windows is fully updated as of 2015-06-10 which includes all current .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.5 security patches and updates. The machine is NOT joined to a domain so Group Policies and advanced IT Sec rules are not applied against this computer. It is basically set up as a home PC so there are no restrictions. Also, my internet bandwidth is with Brighthouse Networks - 75m down/5m up service.

*** It should be noted that my home network blocks ALL DNS traffic that is not sent through OpenDNS. Yes, I'm using a firewall to block all inbound/outbound DNS requests except for traffic to\from OpenDNS. This is done to enforce internet content filtering for my home and to enforce internet accountability (yes, this is overkill but it is needed). I know this causes a lot of network performance issues on my end...

Going to http://proclaimonline.com/download and using the online installer didn't work. I'd double-click the installer but nothing would happen or appear onscreen. This was the same experience whether or not I ran the app as an administrator or not. Looking in Task Manager I could see the app was running but wasn't doing anything. I tried to run the app in Windows 7 and Windows 8 compatibility mode but again, nothing would happen.

I killed all running processes and found some logs in the folder "C:\Users\Joe\AppData\Local\Temp\Logos Log Files". ("Joe" is the local profile folder for my user account. Yours will be different). I attached the log files to this post.

1401.ProclaimSetup.log

I couldn't find anything that made sense in the setup log file, but the installer log file referenced this folder:

C:\Users\Joe\AppData\Local\Proclaim\Install\Installers\Proclaim-x64.msi

Navigating to that folder there were two files:

ProclaimPrerequisites-x64.msi - 1.5mb
Proclaim-x64.msi --- 134mb

I manually ran the prerequisites installer. Chose all default installations. There were no issues.
I manually ran the x64 installer. Chose all default installations. At the end of the installation the install wizard said it finished successfully but there was an error message "Unable to connect to the internet to download files." I clicked Finish, then OK on the error pop-up.

Launched Proclaim and logged in. No issues....

So everything is working as I expect it to. I've relaunched Proclaim several times and I have not had any issues in running Proclaim at all. I wonder if my OpenDNS enforcement might have been the cause. Hard to say at this point.
