Hi Daniel!
Thanks for your post.
Your method of distribution, which is one of those zillion-download-button sites, will make old guys like me lose our will to live rapidly. So, I wasn't able to examine your file(s).
May I suggest Dropbox as a future distribution method?

I changed the link to make it easier.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks.
Can you tell me what the 471 error messages, "[Warning] Article too long, forcing article break" are about and if there is a way to fix them?

Super Daniel! I've integrated into my L4 system! Looks great! I've waited a long time for this, since I lost the PBB's that I had with L3. Only problem is that I use my ipad almost exclusively for study. Hopefully soon they will fix this.

Hi. Calvin. I believe that the reason is that the chapters of the book are too long. I really don't see how to fix this. But, it is just warnings. I don't think that will cause any problems.

Thanks.. How do you get a pbb commentary to open up in the passage guide with my other commentaries?

You compile it as a "Bible Commentary" instead of a monograph.

Agreed. Could someone simply add it as an attachment to a post?

Actually, after my whining, Daniel made his link more straight-forward.
One thing some of us have run into in posting directly to the forum is file size. I'm not sure what the limit is, but earlier this year I needed to post a bunch of fairly large docs. Some of them wouldn't post directly to the forum, so I wound up storing offsite and linking.

This usually occurs when paragraphs are too long. Try to locate the long paragraphs and change them to two or more shorter ones.

Thank you for this PBB. I have a question, though. I'm using Logos 5, and I compiled this as a commentary, and put it in my priority list. But it still doesn't show up in passage guide searches. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Hi JDC:
Compile it as a Bible Commentary and it will show up in the passage guide.

Thanks. But like I said, I did compile it as a commentary, and it doesn't show up in the passage guide. Maybe I should look at it again when I get a chance. Is there a difference between compiling as a commentary and compiling as a bible commentary?

Yes, there is, and I think that is your issue. I think the difference is that "Bible Commentary" as a Personal Book Type identifies strictly a commentary on a Bible book, passage, etc. A "Commentary" as a Personal Book Type would be used for commentaries on other materials, like the Westminster Confession, the London Baptist Confession, Aquinas, Augustine, etc. I hope others will correct this if my assumption is wrong and/or offer additional clarification.
But for the practical issue at hand, use "Bible Commentary" (and tag the passage citations) and your PB will be useful in a passage guide.

I made the mistake of tagging many of my Bible Commentaries simply as Commentary when I first compiled many of my Personal Books. I had to go back and re-compile them all one I noticed what I had done. It is important to get this right.

Wow. I see that now. Thanks for your help. I was getting frustrated with that and hoping it wasn't going to take changing all the milestones for every verse in the Bible or something. Now when I get a chance, I just need to figure out how to remove the bad one so I can recompile it.Robert M. All you need to do is edit the PB, make the changes and then re-compile the book.

Hi Matt:
In case Daniel doesn't check the forum soon, and since I know you're probably eager to use his fine work on this, I have uploaded a copy to Dropbox.
Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/50z77lbnq6x5pmz/Gill%20-%20Whiole.docx

I realize this is an old thread, but I tried to download the Gill notes, and the link isn't working. Can anyone direct me to a current server?
Thanks,

Hi Will:
Welcome to the Logos Forums.
Check out the Previous page IPage 2 near the bottom) of this thread, where I made a new Dropbox link for this excellent work (both Gill and our friend Daniel). Daniel's link died and I haven't noticed him in the Forums for quite some time.
BTW, the Forums are veritably chocked full of really nice Personal Book-Ready Word docs. See this excellent Wiki page, which is maintained by another generous Forum user, Rosie:

Excellent. Thank you for all your work.

Robert,
God Bless you brother. Because of your sacrifice of time, I was able to add John Gill's commentary to my Logos 4 package. John Gill was instrumental in my growth as a believer and I thank God that you gave clear instructions in your "Seeing the Kingdom" link which gave instructions for how to include a book in Logos. Please show others using Logos how easy this is so that they too can be blessed. Thank You Brother, I have been thanking God for you for the past 1/2 hour!

I appreciate your gratitude. I'll point out that the big Gill file was submitted by Daniel Gomes Silveira (see Page 1 this thread), who I believe did all the formatting and tagging work. I haven't seen him around the forums lately; I owe him much gratitude also. (I had actually done my own Gill files separately from some files I found at a Primitive Baptist web site, but Daniel's was much higher quality).
My poor, neglected blog does have a couple of useful posts (both linked in the bottom line of my signature). The first details my methods for converting Kindle files and PDFs, and the second one I posted after I got Word 2013 and it relates to converting PDFs in Word. I'll add a short word of advice about PDFs and the methods I described in the posts: If pictures are more prominent in the PDF than footnotes, use the non-Word 2013 method from the original post. If footnotes are more prominent/critical, use Word 2013, as it will retain the functionality of live footnotes in a PDF.

I have removed this file from DropBox, since the Logos resource, Gill's Works, has now shipped. (I should have removed it earlier, but didn't think about it until I saw the real thing hit my library.)

This is unnecessary. Faithlife requests that you not attach files to the forum if it is sold as a Logos product. Gill's work is in the public domain and should get wide distribution. Hosting a public domain resource on a non-Faithlife server is good for the church.

Hi Dave:
I agree re: public domain books. I was just removing the link from here so I wouldn't interfere with Logos' marketing of a product on their forum.
If you're interested in having the docx, you can send me a message at my email (on my Faithlife profile page) I'll do another link and send it to you. (Yes, I know, it's still using their forum in a round about way.)
