Proclaim Remote: Error Changing Slides

Hello,

We use Proclaim and have been very happy with it, and in the past, we have loaded sermon presentations into proclaim and gave the pastor control on his iPad with the Proclaim Remote app. This has worked very well for us up until recently, when the app inexplicably stopped working. We have tried it on multiple devices, but every one of them gets an error when trying to change slides.

I don't think it's a network error, as we are able to see and follow the current presentation (if I change slides on the computer, that's reflected on the mobile app, with only a minimal delay), so the device and computer are definitely still communicating.

We had to give up on controlling Proclaim with the remote app and just go back to running Keynote presentations from the pastor's iPad. Any insight as to why we are having this issue would be greatly appreciated!

What is the error that shows on the screen? Does this happen with all presentations? Also, if you try to control a presentation with a phone not connected to Wi-Fi, does this error message still show?

Thank you for your quick reply! The error says "Slide Change Error: The remote could not confirm that the requested slide change occurred. This may indicate network issues on your device or the presenting computer."

This does happen with all presentations, and I've tried via wifi on my phone and via cell data, and both give the same error. Again, on wifi and data, if I change the slide on the computer, it changes on my phone as well, I just can't change it with my phone.

Interesting. I will try with one of your presentations and see if I can reproduce the issue.

Great, thanks Spencer. The account we're using for Proclaim isn't my logos account, it's actually delkins @ colonialindy.org. Thanks!

One other thing - we are about to start our morning service, but I can leave the presentation up for you afterwards if you need to test it out.

i have been having trouble with this too. I got halfway through the service two times now and the slide suddenly gives me a change slides error. It will change momentarily then bounce back for some reason.

If you point me to a certain presentation that is giving you issues, I will see if I can reproduce the problem. However, I am seeing your group log a lot of websync connectivity issues, which makes me suspect that you might be having network connectivity issues. Do you use a router of some sort to connect to the presentation machine; if so, could you try connecting the presentation machine via an ethernet cable and then see if you can reproduce the issue?

We do not have a connection at the church so I use my iPhone as a hot spot and run the presentation on my laptop from an iPad at the pulpit. I had issues with slide errors the last two weeks so those presentations would be the ones to look at (named by date).

Were there any connectivity warnings on the presenting computer? If the desktop application has troubles communicating with our servers (required for the remote) while on air a warning will be shown in the lower right of the main window.

Sometimes i have the same problem and it is because we use the presentation laptop like a hotspot and the controller is with low wifi signal, in other words bad internet connection.
