Proclaim Freezing Up During Church Service

I have had Proclaim to freeze up on me during church. I work on the presentation at home on a laptop and then come early to sync with the computer at church. Everything works fine most days. Some days, the computer will freeze completely. Some days only the videos in Proclaim won't work. I was thinking that if I added memory to the church computer, would that solve the problem? I will include information on my setup below:

According to my Crucial.com scan, it looks like I can install up to 16 GB of memory. I currently have 4 GB.

I also wanted to add that my iPad stops controlling the presentation remotely at times. Is this a wifi problem or computer problem?

Hi Walter

It would help if you would keep additional information on the same problem in a single thread. You now have several asking essentially the same question. Those trying to assist are going to have a problem keeping track of which replies are made on which thread.

As there have been no replies to the previous threads I could arrange for those to be deleted leaving this one to gather all the advice that is forthcoming.

You keep information in the same thread by, if necessary replying to yourself. :-)

Hello Walter,

As Mike mentioned the first step for troubleshooting an issue like this on Windows is to ensure your video drivers are up to date.

When Proclaim freezes do other applications on the machine work? Or is the entire machine frozen?

Hi Scott,

Thank you for taking time to help me. The video drivers on my laptop are up to date. I will check on the video drivers at church this evening when I go. I just tried to play a video on one of my Proclaim presentations and it won't play but it seems to be the only thing that does not work currently. I can play videos on web browsers that are open and I can continue to work on my Proclaim presentation. The videos just won't play.

I tried to restart Proclaim on my laptop to see if the videos would play and I couldn't restart Proclaim. It would not open. I restarted my laptop and launched proclaim but the videos won't play again. Usually the videos will play after I restart my computer.

Did you install the Proclaim update that was released on Monday? If not please try that. If you're still unable to play videos please try the steps outlined here and see if that helps.

I have installed the latest update from Proclaim. I was not able to even open Proclaim back up on my laptop. I tried a repair instead of a fresh install on my laptop. I am now able to open Proclaim back up but the videos won't play. I am unable to turn off the hardware acceleration on my laptop. It is a school computer and that option is greyed out. I will see what I can do with the desktop computer at church this evening.

I am now having syncing issues. I am unable to sync my presentation I am working on.

This is pretty frustrating. I started on a MacBook a few months ago. Proclaim got updated and now the MacBook won't work because it is not up to date. I am working on a laptop that is less than a year old now and it won't work as well as it should either.

Sorry about venting a little. I love Proclaim. I just can't wait for the bugs to be worked out. Thank you for your help so far. I hope we can get my issues resolved.

I was able to disable hardware acceleration on my laptop and the 2 other computers I use at church.
My laptop - usable but the videos are choppy.

Sanctuary computer - seems to be usable and not choppy. I will know more on Sunday.

Life Center computer - still updating.

Thank you for your help. Do you have any advice on how to make the video on my laptop not to be choppy when going On Air? The video in the preview works okay. Just the extended display is choppy.

The processor in my laptop is much slower than the sanctuary computer. See the screen shot here for my laptop and compare to the screenshot of the sanctuary computer above.

We have one more computer at church and I will have to check it out today or tomorrow. Except for the choppiness of the video on my laptop, I think everything else may be okay. Thank you again for your help. I will let you know how the service goes on Sunday (sanctuary computer) and the status of our Life Center computer.

Here is an update on my computers:

Laptop - works with hardware acceleration disabled but video is choppy (it doesn't freeze though)

Sanctuary computer @ church - works fine with acceleration disabled.

Life Center computer @ church - seems to be fine as well.
