I have contacted someone for comment. It appears something has gone wrong or is lacking in the conversion process. You are likely to have luck using the built in TOC (Sidebar on desktop, top right [click on chapter to pull down list] on mobile).

"correcting the mistake " may simply mean removing the hyperlinks altogether... Or doing nothing. Since these books are auto converted, some glitches are to be expected. I am curious, however, because I don't remember this issue appearing before (or at least a long time) and yet at least four posts in two days mention this issue for different books! Furthermore, some users are saying that they DONT have this issue. Either they don't understand the problem, or something more interesting is at work. I have experienced this on both desktop (Mac) and mobile (iOS).
