I am not familiar with either resource. I will appreciate any advice.

The Lutheran Study Bible by Edward A. Engelbrecht
OR
Concordia Self-Study Bible by Robert G. Hoerber
or do I get both? Thanks in advance.

If I had to chose one, it would definitely be the Lutheran Study Bible. But I would recommend both.

I also agree with MJ both are preferable.
The Concordia Self Study Bible is a unique edition of the original NIV Study Bible and the best of the Concordia Self Study commentary, making a distinctly Lutheran Study Bible.

Another question: Which version of the NIV is the CSS Bible based on? 1984 or 2010?
