Is there a way to specify base reference in a personal book?
Hi. I'm making a personal book from some observations on Exodus. The PB compiler recognizes Ex 7:5, but if I just use 7:5 it's not recognized. Is there a way to specify that "Ex" is the base reference to apply to references that don't have the book specified?

No, sorry. You could write a Word macro to add markup, possibly.

not that I know of. You could try a search/replace operation in Word (probably by using regular expressions) to find the references and change them to something the compiler recognizes.

Thanks, for the replies, Mark, John, and Sascha.
I'm not keen on modifying it with a macro, as this is not just for a Logos PB, i.e. it needs to look right in Word (without milestones). As it develops over next few years, I plan to keep updating it as a Personal Book, but it's not dedicated to being that.
Thanks for the replies. Appreciated.

than, the Best Way would be to type out any Bible Reference so that Logos can read it.

The solution I have found to this is to go ahead and mark up the original document however you need to in order for Logos to recognize and create the appropriate links as a personal book. When you need a "plain" version, presumably because you are sharing it with non-Logos users, select the text from within Logos, copy it, and paste your personal book into a NEW Word document. Everything should be human readable with the formatting exactly how it looked within Logos. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions. That would work if it was reasonably static, but this is a project I'm working on that changes almost every day and will do so for all of 2016 I expect. Updating as a personal book is not crucial. I can live without it, but now that I have about 100k words written, it's helpful to have it in Logos too. Will just leave those references unhandled for now.

what's the Problem to write them so Logos could read it?

The document ceases to be something I could send to a publisher or submit as a dissertation.

You could user the format that allows you to specify the text and the link - more work but ...

Word can use wildcards to find [[7:5>> bible:Ex 7:5]] then replace with 7:5
Wildcard search explanation of
( )([\[])([\[])(*)([\>][\>]*[\]][\]])( )
( ) matches a single space is \1
([\[]) matches open bracket is \2
([\[]) matches open bracket is \3 Note: my initial wildcard search of ([\[][\[]) left an open bracket in replacement
(*) matches all characters between [ and >> is \4
([\>][\>]*[\]][\]]) matches any Bible reference between >> and ]] is \5
( ) matches a single space is \6

You are making a personal book not a dissertation nor sending it to a publisher. In both cases you will be writing it again and formatting it differently. You said you were making a personal book so stick to that.
