iPad not syncing highlights

Yesterday my iPad app (5.1.10002) stopped syncing highlights.  Up until this point it has been fine with the resource I am using (Owen, vol. 2) - but now no highlights are appearing on my desktop, or my iPhone version. I have shut down the iPad app, restarted the iPad itself, double-checked the wifi connection - everything seems to be in proper working order.  I have changed no settings on my desktop (and all previous highlights prior to yesterday are there).  Have not changed any note settings on the mobile version (not even sure how to do that in the first place).  What can I do - I don't want to continue to use this way if the highlights won't transfer.  Thanks

The first step (after doing what you have already done) is to check documents.logos.com to verify that indeed the notes are not syncing.

Looking at the documents site - the last doc update on Feb 6th.  How do I make the iPad send it?  Also - I have 113 documents - how do I know what one the highlights/emphasis markings will go to?  Seems like a massive mess.

Chad, FWIW I had the same issue about a week ago. Tried a number of things to no avail. However the ship righted on its own a little while later (the next day?? can't recall now) and the missing highlights re-appeared on my PC.

I suspected it had something to do with the servers Faithlife uses for this, but have no way to know.

Hopefully you will see your highlights re-appear soon and someone at FL will be able to see if there is some internal bug causing this behavior.

Also - I have 113 documents - how do I know what one the highlights/emphasis markings will go to?

On your iPad tap lightly on one of the missing highlights until you get the edit bar, then choose the edit function. When the details of the highlight open scroll down to see the file that highlight was sent to.

You control this. You can create note files to contain your highlights and set the one you want to currently use in the settings menu on your iPad app. On the computer they generally go to the last used note file unless you've chosen differently on the highlight palette menu.

I create a separate highlight notes file for each resource I mark up.

On the computer they generally go to the last used note file unless you've chosen differently on the highlight palette menu.

That isn't correct. The default behavior in ALL apps (desktop/mobile) is for the highlight to go into a pallet specific note document. If the behavior you see is different, it is because you changed it at some point.

I have 113 documents - how do I know what one the highlights/emphasis markings will go to?  Seems like a massive mess.

The answer is in a note document called "emphasis markings" (if that is what your pallet is called) UNLESS you changed the behavior.

It might be good to see if you suffer from "large note document syndrome." Can you pretend to print the note document on your computer and see how many pages it would be?

I wasn't sure how to print - but the "emphasis markups" doc (one of the many) is 204 notes.  I am taking this opportunity to move all the notes to a specific document for the resource.

I wasn't sure how to print

    From the panel menu:

the "emphasis markups" doc (one of the many) is 204 notes.

That doesn't seem particularly large by any means. Are they simply highlights, or did you add content to the notes themselves?

I am taking this opportunity to move all the notes to a specific document for the resource.

That is my preferred way to organize. Make sure to change the behavior on both desktop and mobile. In L6, the behavior is controlled at each pallet (ugh). Thankfully the mobile app makes more sense, and you can change one setting to change everything.

Also, make sure you name the note documents correctly. It might be best to change the behavior, and create a new note (which will then create the appropriately named note document) before moving them.

Just an update - it appears that in my documents.logos.com that nothing from the iPad is working as far as synchronization of highlights.  How do I get this to start syncing?  I have shut down the app, reopened, shut down the whole iPad (both normal and hard reset) and nothing has happened.  Stuff from my desktop is still syncing.

Please use "Report a Problem" under the Help menu; this will send us the application logs and might help us debug the issue.

Please also reference this thread in the email.

Kevin - just did "report a problem" from the iPad.  I couldn't type much as for some reason the Logos program on my iPad would not connect with my keyboard (Bluetooth) - though other apps functioned fine.  Hopefully can get this figured out.  Thanks.

    Chad,

Thanks for sending in the info. I've been looking into this issue and I can see that you've got 4 note documents that aren't syncing.

    "Of Communion with God"
    "Emphasis Markup"
    "Emphasis Markup (4)"
    "Emphasis Markup (5)"

Have you tried opening the documents and editing the title and then changing it back to the original title? That will cause the sync state of the document to be reset and attempt to resync.

    Thanks,

    Tom

I just tried that on the iPad - and I don't yet see a change in the documents.logos.com showing that they have syncing. And I closed the app after doing so.

Tom - I just talked to support (and as nice as the person was) it was not helpful.  I was basically told that although some notes are syncing there is no way to make, at least one specific one sync.  So at this point I am forced with the choice of waiting to see if it corrects itself, or uninstalling the application - and thereby losing probably 75 pages of text that I have notes on that I will lose - this does not seem like a good option to me.  To try and move those over to the desktop would take hours upon hours of work that I've already done.  Is there anything that can be done??

I must admit this is really frustrating me.  Please advise if there is anything I can do.

    Chad,

Support won't be able to help you at this point.  Tom heads out the mobile team and your issue has already escalated to the top; there is already a case for your issue and we're working on it.  Thanks for your patience as we try to solve it.

    Chad,

We've made a beta iOS release (5.1.3) available to our TestFlight beta testers that has some fixes for sync that should fix the issue you're experiencing.

If you're not part of the iOS Beta program, please send an email from your iOS device to kevin (dot) byford (at) faithlife (dot) com asking to be added to the Logos beta program.

If you'd rather wait until the stable app is released it should be available in the iOS app store in a week or so but I strongly encourage you to try this beta to verify your issue is fixed.

I'm having the same problem.  My documents and highlights are syncing from my Mac to documents.logos.com but they do not show up on my iPad.

Logos should put a manual "sync" button that you can click to force the sync to happen.

Any idea how to resolve the issue?  I taught a class today and had great difficulty because all my notes that I expected to be on my iPad were not there (I teach from the iPad).

This should be fixed in 5.1.3, and you also are welcome to try the beta.

Logos should put a manual "sync" button that you can click to force the sync to happen.

Pressing the Home button on your iOS device, and then bringing the app back into the foreground will force a sync (although this probably won't work for you because of the bug in 5.1.2).

Any idea how to resolve the issue?

It should already be resolved in 5.1.3 which is waiting for review in the Apple Store.

    I'm having the same problem.

Ah, but you aren't! The OP was having troubles with note from his iPad showing up on his desktop, whereas you are having the reverse problem. [:P]

Have you tried killing the app? Restarting the device?

If the update doesn't fix the issue, please create a new thread and let us know. I hope it gets sorted out for you!

    Hi Alabama,

Yesterday, I installed the Louw-Nida highlights in my desktop, but for some reasons it is not syncing in my iPad/iPhone. In other words, i can't see any of the highlights I made using Louw-Nida in the desktop in any of my mobile devices.

    Grateful for your help,  Daniel

I am having a similar problem.  Highlights made yesterday did not sync to the server.  They are on my iPad but i have looked at the server doc and it was not updated with the highlights from yesterday.

Which Note document was used and which resource/verse were highlighted?  Also, did you check the last page of that document on documents.logos.com since newer notes are added to the end of the document?

I was highlighting using a custom palette - Rod's highlights - in the NLT Bible.  In documents.logos.com there are 2 entries for this:

    Rod's highlights Notes

    Private
    Rod's highlights Highlighting Palette

    Private

When I click on the second one, the page that comes up is completely blank.  When I clicked on the first one yesterday, there was no entry for the highlighting that I did on the weekend.  However, about 5 minutes ago, it suddenly appeared on the file.
