I just got an email about this today....and it's already disabled. I do wish I knew about that because I used the feature last year and just started using it again a few days ago. I would have sent over a few more books. I really wish you emailed this out to me sooner!!
I love that in the devotional I sent over I can read my preferred version through hyperlinks. That's pretty amazing.
Very sad to hear of this. I wish I would have heard of it before today. This feature is a MAJOR draw to Logos and one reason I have chosen to buy logos formats over other features.
I'm really sorry this is the first you'd heard of it. Anyone who used the feature was supposed to be notified a few weeks ago, but it looks like that didn't happen. I'm going to see if we can keep the feature active for another couple of weeks for those of you who didn't get notified before today.
Retiring the Send-to-Kindle Feature on 3/31
Due to a combination of technical, legal, and permission issues outside our control, we're going to retire the send-to-Kindle feature on 3/31. You'll be able to use the service through the end of the month. After that point, it will no longer work. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.
Update: Books already sent to Kindle will not be affected by this change. You will be able to continue to enjoy them on your Kindle after 3/31.

Restart the app and/or computer. The app doesn't actually "upload" anything... it simply sends a request to Logos.

I attempted to "send to my Kindle" a couple hours ago as the option was still there. But it seem the upload is stuck in an endless loop as the upload progress bar is still moving but it has been like that for about 4 hours now and I see no way to end it.
I suspect it will stay there until you upgrade to the next version of Logos (which is currently in beta testing). When you Send to Kindle, all your PC does is send a very simple request to the Logos servers. The "upload" happens from the Logos servers, not your PC. When you request a status update (by having the info panel open on that book), Logos asks the server "have you done it yet?". Until it gets an answer in the affirmative (which it now won't), it will keep saying "Uploading".
It's not doing any harm, and if you're not actually requesting a status update, then nothing will actually be happening for you to worry about.

Hi - I'm another who just received the email (arrived late last night UK time) and hadn't heard of this before then. If there's no legal way to keep the feature then I understand - but it is very frustrating, and all the more so with the complete lack of notice. It's a feature I've used a lot (and yes, one which did help persuade me to upgrade though I'm sure I would have done so anyway). If it's possible to extend the deadline for a couple of weeks that would be great - I can then think about what I'm going to want to read on Kindle in the next few months.

I really hope it is in the plans to provide a localized version of send-to-kindle (call it "send to mobi") so we can at least send our books to our kindles as docs. Amazon shouldn't be able to bully you for that, anyway.

The first I heard of the death of Send-To-Kindle was an email sent by Logos at 22:12 on 31st March. So I had no opportunity to download any more books. As I use a 27" iMac for study and sermon prep, I bought a Kindle for reading for pleasure, purely on the strength of the Send-to-Kindle feature. On 1st April I received a follow up email that promised an 18 day stay of execution, but this turned out to be an April Fool message as the Send-to-Kindle is already dead (I've had a 'Kindle upload in progress' message for eight hours now).
Sorry Logos, but after 14 years of good service, you've really screwed up this time. I'm going to have to cancel all my books on pre-pub as I can't read them in comfort or on my travels. Don't expect me to buy a fancy phone or iPad. I'm back to paper, where support does not evaporate at short notice.

Phil, thanks for the StK extension. However as FYI, currently about three seconds after each Send to Kindle request comes a "Failed..." notification. 'Retry' results are same. Perhaps FL servers are presently overwhelmed. I'll try again during a lower-traffic period.

No. The StK service requires use of a Logos server, and that server is going to be retired.

You can close Logos once you have clicked the "Send to Kindle" button and it has started saying "Kindle upload in progress".
At that point your request is in a queue (on a Logos server) and will get processed in order. Some of mine took a couple of days to get processed as there's obviously a lot of us using this feature while we still can.
This is very sad news. Kindle is my portable choice for using Logos books with church services and Bible studies. Its also like "free advertising" because church members get to see the power of Logos in action.

There are Faithlife apps - which provide access to most of your Logos resources - available for Android and iOS.
The issue some people have with them as that most tablets are not "e-ink" and so cause strain on eyes. Apart from that the apps provide more functionality than the basic reading experience on the Kindle.
Send to kindle provides three advantages:
1) E-ink is easier on the eyes for most people
2) E-ink is usually lighter in weight and makes for an easier cover-to-cover reading.
3) E-ink has a battery life measured in multiple days.
4) The current Kindle screen apps have much larger fonts which make it useable for those with vision problems. (this could be remedied with larger fonts in the Logos/Vyrso/Verbum apps).
It is unfortunate that the current solution must fold, but I hope that that FL will be cognizant of how important this feature is. Maybe its send through email/local upload or send to Kobo. Regardless, I hope that the licensing mine-field can be navigated and new solution can be identified.

For clarification: Your post sounds like you are talking about a Kindle Fire device. Is that right? This thread has nothing to do with the mobile app for kindle fire devices (which is the android app). It is only about kindle e-ink devices (such as the paper white).

Send to Kindle works with both the Kindle Fire and the e-Ink devices. The app only works on the Fire devices. This thread applies to the Srnd-to-Kindle feature, which is available for Fire and e-Ink devices.

So i've been wondering why this hasn't been working, being basically the first time I've tried to use it.
It should be working at the moment assuming you are running Logos 6.10. What issues, other than sends taking a long time, are you seeing?

It sounds like you are new to the issue and haven't read through the 7 pages of posts. I don't blame you. [:)]
To elaborate just slightly on Graham's comments: The button is still there because the service was still available and working for all users when the current version of the engine was released. As Graham mentioned, it is removed in the next release.
Also, as Graham references, the timing for the resources to be sent is currently VERY long (even a couple of days). If you are using the feature correctly, it <should> work. However, due to the length of the sending, it may be past the date by the time your issue gets troubleshot.

Thanks for the link, Levi. I've persisted with StK, requesting a batch of a dozen books each day. Although it is taking one or two days to process each batch, I am on target to get all the monographs I want onto my Kindle Voyage by the deadline. By the time I've read all of them, I'm sure that technology and licensing will have moved on apace!
If I order a Kindle Paperwhite new now, I will have very little time to get it filled up with books. As I'm reading about some others doing this in batches - does that mean that is the only way to currently do it i.e. does it mean I wouldn't be able to do one big batch with everything I want to send to the Paperwhite? I know about the delay caused by the demand and the server being the bottleneck and am OK with that part.
If I would do one big batch, so I need more RAM than the minimum in the computer with Logos? (Currently 4 GB, some of my other computers need service badly and can't be used for this. I could perhaps try to fix the error on my MacBook - which has 6 GB RAM. If more RAM really is needed I have the option of using my newest (and best) computer with Wifi this time, it has 8 GB RAM.)
I will be able to leave the Paperwhite powered on if that helps but I doubt it helps a lot.

You can send as many files as you need to Kindle, and all the processing is done on Logos' servers. Once the request is sent, your own computer won't be needed, and you can safely switch it (and your Kindle) off.
You don't even need to wait for your Paperwhite to arrive before you start. If you download one of the Kindle apps, you can get a "Send to Kindle" address for that device. Just make sure that "Personal Document Archiving" is switched on, and then when your Kindle arrives you'll be able to download any items previously sent to Kindle on that new device. https://www.amazon.com/mn/dcw/myx.html#/home/settings/payment

Adam, that is great to hear. It seems that given what I'm sure is unprecedented StK demand, the queue is working. I'm sure the lag time will increase somewhat from here on, but we can be relatively sure that what we send before the deadline will arrive, even if days after the deadline.
