No longer possible to send books to Kindle?

That was an absolute killer feature for me, and I was also recommending Logos because of that to friends with Kindles.
Why is that no longer possible? Will it be possible again in the future?

RIP Send to Kindle:
Send-to-Kindle feature
You are receiving this email because you have used the send-to-Kindle feature in Logos 6. Due to a combination of technical, legal, and permission issues outside our control, we retiring this feature effective today. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.
Books already sent to Kindle will not be affected by this change. You will be able to continue to enjoy them on your Kindle.

With O`Reilly at least you can download the .mobi and send it yourself, but with Logos you can´t even download the file, so you literally have no possibility to get the books to your kindle... Or am I wrong?

The demand needs to be made of Amazon rather than of Faithlife.

Not being able to send books to my Kindle will severely limit my future Logos purchases. I far prefer to read books that are mostly prose on my Kindle rather than my laptop or phone and it's nice to have them linked when I'm at my computer doing research. I've purchased a number of books through Logos just because this feature was available.
Is there another solution? I've never used Vyrso because the initial marketing for it had very inadequate explanations of how I would use it, on what devices and how it is related to my Logos content so I've never followed it since - plus I was happy with what I had.
This is a serious issue for me. I have a lot of non-Logos books on my Kindle. Am I going to have to buy yet another portable hardware platform to read Logos books as I would on my Kindle?
I would pay a small subscription fee or per book fee to use the Kindle.
Update:
Ok, I looked at Mark Barnes page on how to get books to Kindle. It looks doable thought I haven't tried it yet. It's still unfortunate.
Have a great day,

I was pretty sure this was going to happen at some point. The "A" company probably doesn't want to use its infrastructure to facilitate its competitors. And publishers would rather you purchase the same work on multiple platforms to increase their influx of ducats. So, if you want to read a title in "A" format, you need to buy it from "A". Otherwise, you can manually transfer pertinent sections manually using the extant functionality.

I take issue with Faithlife for just suddenly dropping the feature with no notice whatsoever. By the time I received the email, the feature no longer worked on my Logos program.
They could have given us some notice, even if only a few days. That would have given me time to at least export as many as possible. When I sold a large number of my print books last year in order to transfer over to Logos, one big reason I was willing to do so was knowing that I could export the books to Kindle. That was really key for me. Now, without warning, it's gone.
Yes, I know that Amazon was probably a big factor in this decision (or the publishers, or both).
But shame on Faithlife for not giving its customers any heads up, or any opportunity at all to export books before this feature disappeared altogether.

Now this is unfortunate. This was THE ONE feature why I was even building up my library. If Logos will not come up with an alternative to load books from the library on my Kindle (or on any other ebook reader for that matter), there won't be any other purchases from me for this closed system. Again, money wasted and lost, just because of a proprietory and closed system.

If it is true that Amazon is prohibiting this use, then they are accomplishing what they are intending by creating a walled garden for their resources and making it hard for other sellers to use their devices. Even so, there needs to be a different path for us that works using the local install of .mobi books into our devices. Having a .mobi with our name/email embedded that we can place in other readers is essential for any monograph that we want to read cover to cover. The eyestrain using my iPad compared to my e-ink device is unacceptable. This effectively leaves Vyrso out in the cold as far as I am concerned. For the same reason, I don't buy books from Apple and Google. Is there another e-ink alternative that FL can partner with? I would gladly buy another device to accomplish this.
Other publishers that I use just send the book as an attachment to my kindle email. This does not seem to have the same issues as using the Send To Kindle feature.

This is frustrating. Logos should do what it takes to fix this...no blame shifting and excuses...Once again... the product I paid top dollar for is now changing without my approval.

So still no official answer from Faithlife... The function still is available, but does not seem to work.
I have to say i am disappointed, that theres no information so far about future plans in this regard.
- What are the exact reasons for this step?
- Will the feature return?
- If so, when will that be the case?
- Will you at least be able to download an ePub or mobi file and sync it with your kindle device manually? (The process via the export function is just ridiculous!)

The tool will still be in the software until users update to the next version (currently in beta), which will remove the tool.

While the tool is still "there", it's functionality appears to be gone, i.e. it says "Kindle upload in progress" but it doesn't actually upload the book.
I agree that this is something that we should have received more warning on. It is another case of FaithLife failing their customer base.
I can understand if it is beyond their control because of Amazon BUT the failure to give adequate warning lies with Faithliife.

None of the Send To Kindle functionality has been turned off or disabled yet. It still works just as well as it did a week ago. (Books can fail to upload for a number of reasons, and this has always been the case.)

I've also been informed that due to the substantial increase in demand for our Send To Kindle service (about 100× more requests than normal), books may take many hours to be delivered.

Because the email didn't make it to everyone in advance, we're going to keep the feature and the service live for two more weeks. When 6.11 ships on Monday, April 18, the feature and service will be disabled. You may continue to use it for the next two weeks, and books you send to Kindle will continue to work even after April 18.
As Bradley noted, it may take longer than normal for your books to process. The demand yesterday was exceptionally high.
I'm sorry again for the late notice—and that we have to retire a feature many of you really enjoy.

Please hear what customers are saying in their use regarding this feature.
Something tells me that you can't just create plain .mobi files for us to email to Kindle ourselves since we can only print/export 100 pages at a time. However, if you were to encrypt the .mobi before sending it to us, would that satisfy your publisher contracts? The code is out there to "de-drm" a Kindle book, so I presume the opposite would work. Or perhaps Amazon would be willing to work with you to create these encrypted files.

LOL whining! As if it was FL's fault! If amazon decided to cancel, then there's nothing FL can do about it. Stop your silly threats about not buying from faithlife or taking issue with the company for not announcing anything. Nobody has to announce anything here! Besides there was already a thread discussing this, why play dumb and whine and pretend nothing's been said before. If you don't want to buy from FL any more then fine, nobody's going to miss your busines, trust me! Byeeeeee! 😂😁😆

And your point is? You even seem to be gloating on other people's misery. If FL is to be considered as a serious software company with thoughtful engineers and tactful product managers at hand, they would do everything in their capability to provide an alternative (let's keep in mind, that this was a basic feature of L6).
Seriously, they have known about this problem internally since quite a while. Why not then plan the retirement of this specific functionality of sending the documents over the Amazon cloud while internally prepare for an alternative solution (download Mobi files, use your own mail account for sending out the documents, or what have you not) and instead of announcing a removal of the functionality in the next software release, roll out the new feature by then.
For me, THIS would have been a good showcase of proficient case- / incident management...

In my experience, Logos has almost always been more than accommodating and communicative over the years. When I've had an issue they've been professional and gracious in making the situation right. This said, I would like to see another export option available for my resources. The Kindle export feature was a BIG reason I went all in w/ electronic resources a few years ago. We need an "insurance policy" that if something happens to Faithlife we'll still be able to utilize our resources via an export function. Thankfully, Logos still has a GREAT print feature - one I'm very impressed by. I still would like an export kindle/etc. option. I know this is Amazon's issue BTW; From a business side they are not consolidating users around their platform with this call! I had hoped the market was beginning to have some connectivity but it is still fragmented. Ugh.

I'm a bit confused as to why people are confidently assuming this is Amazon's fault and not FaithLife's. Maybe I'm missing something, but where has it been established that the issue is with Amazon and not with FaithLife and it's deals with publishers?

There are two other ways to read ebooks purchased through oreilly.com on your Kindle:
1. Download the .mobi file to your computer, plug your Kindle into your computer, and drag the .mobi file to the Kindle folder.
2. Download Amazon's Send to Kindle App and follow the instructions.
With that you're proving the point, which some here are trying to establish, namely that FL could have come up with- or at least promised the future implementation of such an option, to allow the export of books in the .mobi (or even epub) format.

Faithlife has given us options ... see Mark Barnes' video. Are you suggesting that Faithlife should flout the intent of Amazon and force Amazon to be even more strict? And do you know what formats Faithlife has legal rights to create? We have enough trouble with Faithlife overpromising and under delivering I don't want to encourage that. ...

I have no reason to believe, that it would be illegal to send *.mobi documents from my own mail account to my kindle reader. That's what it was designed for by Amazan and what they are offering with their "send-to-kindle" software. What Amazon is trying to prevent is, that other "publishers" are piggybacking on their own plattform.
In any case, since I do NOT know, what formats FL is allowed to distribute, it would be interesting to hear a word from them about their future plans, and that's what I was trying to suggest with my critique: the ball is now in FL's corner...
