Importing Note Files and starting new note files.
Is there a way to import 3.0 note files into 4.0? For now I'm going to do some cut-and-pasting, but it would be nice to know if there was a quicker way to import them.
Also, it would be nice if there were an option to right-click highlighted text and "create a new note." Currently we can add a note to existing notes through this method, but not start a brand new note.

Not yet. Not sure if there will be one or not.

You won't want to do that yet, because it's possible that all of your work will be lost. That's not a safe move until after Logos 4 ships.

Phil,
Thanks for the update. I actually meant copy-and-paste, not cut-and-paste The endeavor was a relative success. Formatting was removed (such as numbered lists), but that was easy enough to fix.
I've noticed a problem, however. If I am editing my note, I love the little editing bar that travels with me as I scroll through the note. However, if I alt+tab to another resource, or even drag the scroll bar, the editing bar disappears and I have to scroll back to the top, click in a different box, then click back into the box I'm editing in order for to be able to edit again. Does that make sense? If so, it makes the editing process cumbersome (though the tools themselves are great!)

As mentioned in other posts, and I think it bears repeating, I suggest Logos try very hard at making something that will import notes from 3.x successfully. if 4.0 ships without this ability I will not use the current notes features even though I haven't in the past. The risk of losing all my hard work with the 5.0 would be too great of a risk for me to take.

Let me temper my last remark by adding that based on Logos' and Bob's past actions over the past decade, I believe Logos will do what is right here or I would not spend my time beta testing a Windows version when I am on Mac. I think my beta testing is a good investment because I do believe Logos will demonstrate a value for everyone's investment of time and trust in their software. And they will value people's time and investment in notes as well.

I totally agree that we need a mechanism for importing our Logos 3 notes into Logos 4, personally I'd be happy for this to be a text only import as I do not use a significant level of formatting in my notes.

Surely a relatively simple XSLT should do the trick?
Yeah, but they would probably would need something else to fix the alignment of highlighting of the notes in the rebuilt resources using a different "rich-text engine". (As mentioned by Bob here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/895/7416.aspx#7416 )

Thanks Todd, I was actually looking for that post, because I knew it would be relevant to my comment.
Too bad we can't search, eh? I went to Bob's profile and paged back through his postings till I found one that mentioned Notes.
