Just got the news in my email.
My version shows Logos 7. Twenty three resources were updated. I have Logos Now, so I'm pretty sure not everyone will be seeing this same activity.

Correct; Logos Now (and Verbum Now) members get early access to Logos 7 as a benefit of their subscription.
so being a logos now members... it's like getting the engine for free immediately instead of waiting like in logos 6?
I assume logos 7 base packages will be up this afternoon?
Not only "just" the engine, but all the latest Logos 7 features, described here: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/129206.aspx
Yes, keep watching logos.com for updates.
Can you define "afternoon"? It's already afternoon where I'm at, hoping to see my options before I have to go to bed then on a trip...
I'm excited about this latest release! Now I just need to learn how to use it!
It is Sunday August 22, 11:39 PM in Bellingham. So Monday afternoon where Faithlife is located. [:)]
There are training videos for most if not all of the new content. Wait until the website comes back up. There should also be documentation in your library to assist.
See this link to help you get started. https://community.logos.com/forums/141.aspx

Yeah. But I'm really hoping they take super-early lunches and corporately define afternoon as "before 11 a.m." [;)]
C'mon, guys! Get some Eastern hemisphere sales in before the 22nd ends!
Given that they are up answering forum posts, switching pages, etc. and that they will be on the phones at 5 a.m. and that they will be broadcasting 8-12 ... I think it is reasonable to assume that some will be very tired by "afternoon" ... to the point it is probably a very amorphous time.
Also note that if the phones are scheduled at 5 I'd assume a preview of why you'd want to phone will precede that.
Before 10 a.m. would be awesome, which would be before midnight for me :-)
They open at 6:00 A.M. PT.
Be the first to call in .. start your voice command "call logos sales" at 4:59:30 PDST ...
The lack of any aesthetic improvements is a bit of a disappointment.
Maybe I had high hopes for L7, but I feel L7 is not so much of an upgrade. I feel its just another day of LN release.
Why?
Idk, maybe things would look different in the next release of LN in October. [W]
For the meanwhile I'll wait for base-package announcement.
We're targeting to have the website up around the beginning of the business day, but we want to make sure we've worked out all the issues before we pull the trigger. We'll get it up as soon as it's ready.

Good to hear. Try to get some sleep!
I was hoping to be surprised but I figured it wouldn't be anything too over the top. Nevertheless, eagerly waiting for my 433MB update (70% now) to be done and the indexing to begin, and then I can look around.

I wasn't expecting anything different either. No only if it would actually download for me.... all Logos 6 is doing is saying its preparing the library but nothing is downloading....so much for the open your software and start using Logos 7 email I received....are the servers overloaded already I've never seen it take this long to go through the 'prepainng library...." stage which is a pain at the best of times but seems to be awfully slow today.
I've never seen it take this long to go through the 'prepainng library...
This feature depends on your computer. Some of the new datasets and labour intensive in relation to the amount of data that has to be indexed.
If it makes you feel better, mine is still indexing as well.

I feel you. The 433MB update downloaded; I restarted, thinking it'll start indexing next, but now it's downloading another 385MB [:S]
Maybe I had high hopes for L7, but I feel L7 is not so much of an upgrade. I feel its just another day of LN release. Why? Interface still the same. No facelift. (I thought this would be the first noticeable upgrade) I was hoping more than these minor upgrades (sorry I know you guys worked hard). Nothing groundbreaking or magical. No major thing. No fireworks on first opening L7. Idk, maybe things would look different in the next release of LN in October. For the meanwhile I'll wait for base-package announcement.

It should feel a bit more than just a typical .x release. The last couple have been a bit small because we were working on several new things for Logos 7. But Logos Now members have already been enjoying most of the new Logos 7 features.
In addition to what we've already released, here's what's new in Logos 7.0:
New
Improved
In addition, there's more to come in Logos 7.1–7.4.

Lynden mine hadn't even started downloading, it took over twenty minutes for the download to start. I expect the indexing to take a while. I just wish for once the marketing of this company would be open and honest instead of them stretching the truth to the point of it no longer being true. The email communication should have indicated it may take some time for the download to begin instead of simply saying open the software and start using Logos 7. I know I should expect Logos marketing to put out anything else but overstatements. I guess the problem is I remember what this company used to be instead of what it is today.

I had a similar situation but mine was not as large. I believe some of the datasets could not be downloaded and installed until the new engine was up and running.

This is a very helpful post Phil. Thank you.

Yeap I've have had similar cycles of repeated downloads with previous major version releases of Logos software. It makes sense it a strange kind of way that this happens.
Lynden mine hadn't even started downloading, it took over twenty minutes for the download to start.
That is unusual.
With our six-week release cycle, there was no easy way to get an UI updates into 7.0 without leaking them early in 6.14. We may make some UI improvements in 7.1–7.4. We also wanted to focus more on features over aesthetics for 7.0.
But I totally agree that it's nice for a new version to feel new.
I concur and add my thanks. I asked Jacob to highlight the new stuff on the Logos 7 sticky post, but this will do great in the mean time.
Ah, that makes sense to me. I just want it to be done so I can look around already [:)]

If you're anything like me, it might be because you're using the beta update channel? Caused me some confusion for a few minutes.
If you are, type "set update channel to default" in the command box.
Bible Browser: a faceted browsing tool for accessing our rich data on the Bible by simply using your mouse instead of learning complicated search syntax
This looks really, really good. It would've saved me quite a bit of time this weekend. Very thankfully, it will have many opportunities to save time in the future.
FYI, though, I don't see any documentation or a thread on it yet. That can wait till daybreak. [:D]
Phil,
Thank you for the update on Visual Copy, it looks better. But I think you forgot to add the ability to change the font-size and font-color on visual copy
Can we have that on 7.1 please.
Phil
I don't know about others, but after the update to L7 it feels like it loads faster.. [H]
Logos 7 was always going to be an anti-climax for Logos Now subscribers, as we've been using most of the features already. If you're coming to Logos 7 without being a subscriber, then the upgrade is at least as big as it was from L5 to L6. As for us, according to Phil, we get the following, which is significantly more than 'another LN release'.
If you've been a Logos Now member and are looking for just what's new in this release, here's that list: New Sermon Editor: a new tool for building your sermon manuscript, outline, handout, and slides right in Logos. Maybe I missed it, but is the concordance tool in L7?
Yes. Go to "Tools","Reference" and then you should see concordance.

I should have also included these:
Interlinears
Media Collections
Yes, it's listed in the main post. The shorter list above only includes things that haven't previously been available through Logos Now.

That's understandable, and you have added some commendable new features with 7.
Candidly, you guys need to re-evaluate your corporate compulsion to be so secret-secret all the time. IMO, it compels you to make decisions that aren't necessarily for the best, such as this one. There's nothing new visually to attract new or infrequent buyers. As you weren't too successful at it keeping it secret this time, I can't see that decision as a net gain for you.
The reason they weren't 'successful' at keeping it secret is because they themselves dropped plenty of hints.
It seems to me that the strategy this time is to encourage people to move to Logos Now in order to get L7 (hence the recent Logos Now revamp). For people who haven't yet signed up, L7 represents a significant step up.
I have Logos Now, so I'm pretty sure not everyone will be seeing this same activity. Correct; Logos Now (and Verbum Now) members get early access to Logos 7 as a benefit of their subscription.
:-)
Am I the only one keeping logos.com open in a tab & hitting F5 every once in a while?
I really liked the base packages available for 6; I'm hoping for something similar in 7. What I really what is a package with the AYBD that dynamic pricing ends up giving me at a killer rate. It's all I want out of 7. Or for Christmas, for that matter.
[Y][H][:D]
I'm a Logos Now customer but I'm still on 6.14 with no new updates available. Is this a staggered release
Just checking: Are you set to the default update channel? If you're set to beta, you need to switch it back. That caught me out this morning.
