Preferred resources

I note that 4.0 does not have a means of readily accessing my preferred resources for Greek and Hebrew.  It seems intent on forcing the use of Anlex and L & N rather than BDAG or LSJ (Whatever happened to Search BDAG?).  Also, it links to BDB rather than HALOT which doesn't even appear in the list of resources which can be selected.   This results in the user being required to work around Logos' choices.  I wouldn't use Anlex on a bet.  BDB is still useful, but if one wants the most current scholarship, it is necessary to use HALOT.

Not all resources were ready for beta1.  Which ones someone in the know will have to say.  I would think though that this is a beta problem and will be addressed for the final version.

Longtime Logos user (more than $30,000 in purchases) - now a second class user because I won't pay them more every month or year.

George have you "prioritised" BDAG and HALOT in your library? My greek and hebrew resources open these two texts to their appropriate places.

The reason it uses Anlex and BDB is probably simply because they are the first lexicons alphabetically.

That's better than what I get when I click on an English word. It opens Collins Latin Dictionary and Grammar!

    Amo, amare, amavi, amatus

    amo             amamus
    amas           amatis
    amat             amant

[:)]  I remember how much I disliked Latin in HS.  My sympathy.

Apparently you know something I haven't yet discovered.  How does one prioritise these resorces.  I note that it is possible on the newspaper to prioritise 3 bibles (only 3?), but I haven't noted a way to do this for other resources.

Hi George, You should go to the Library and click on prioritize tab. Then find HALOT and BDAG etc. in your Library. right click on them and prioritize them. You also can prioritize more lexicons etc. and put on the top (by dragging) those you want show first. Similar to key-linking in V3. Its odd, but all prioritized resources, whether Bibles or lexicons are displayed together. Hope it is Beta thing only.

I just ran a quick check.  I opened an English bible and clicked on the word "disciples" (unfortunately, I had to double-click).  I got Collins English Dictionary-8th ed.  I'm wondering whether 4.0 has adopted some of the settings from 3.0.  If so, however, it didn't adopt all of them since my priorities are

    Hebrew                                                                                  Greek

    HALOT                                                                                  BDAG 3rd
    BDB                                                                                      LSJ
    Glosses of Qumran MSS                                                        L & N
    Gesenius' Hebrew Dictionary                                                   Lust
    DBL Hebrew                                                                           TDNT
    TLOT                                                                                     TLNT
    TWOT                                                                                    M & M

Obviously, it didn't adopt this order.

    George,

Logos 4.0 does not adopt any of your 3.0 settings. And it installs with no setting for "preferred resources" or "prioritised books"

You need to set these yourself from the library pane. Follow Bohuslav's directions. Or, you can now search these forums and there are a couple of threads on prioritising with images in them (if I remember correctly. I'd happily post some images but my program is currently not open.

Time for a guides subforum with some stickies....

I don't think it gets any settings from V3. Just try to prioritize your dictionaries. It works. I have Collins as the first priority for English, BDAG for Greek and HALOT for Hebrew. But you can put more of them in the priority list.

Yes, that works.  Thank you.  The only problem is that, unlike keylinks in 3.0, there seems to be no way to segregate the resources according to the type of reference they are keylinked to.  Also, I didn't note a way to prioritize the resources themselves (E.g. HALOT first, BDB second, etc.) other than by deleting and re-entering.

    George,

To prioritize among resources, you can drag the items into the order you want in the prioritise tab. Just drag HALOT above BDB.

They do all just appear as one big mess.... IMHO. Did you look at setting the advanced options for these resources. Thus, right-click on HALOT in the prioritize tab, select advanced options, chose to apply only to Hebrew.
