I'm rather surprised it hasn't yet been added. A big [Y] from me.

Agreed. I'm using his Books of Moses as an additional text in a seminary class on the Pentateuch right now, and I'd love to have it in Logos.

And don't forget his Song of Songs, Ruth, Esther, Jonah, Daniel!
And Art of Biblical Narrative!

I would love to see a "Robert Alter" Bundle come to Logos with as many of his resources as possible (but reasonably priced, of course).

Bump. How about it, Logos?

Art of Biblical Narrative was a huge influence on my analytical method for my dissertation.

I just noticed that Robert Alter's full translation of the Hebrew Bible with commentary will be released by Norton in December 2018.
A landmark event: the complete Hebrew Bible in the award-winning translation that delivers the stunning literary power of the original.
A masterpiece of deep learning and fine sensibility, Robert Alter’s translation of the Hebrew Bible, now complete, reanimates one of the formative works of our culture. Capturing its brilliantly compact poetry and finely wrought, purposeful prose, Alter renews the Old Testament as a source of literary power and spiritual inspiration. From the family frictions of Genesis and King David’s flawed humanity to the serene wisdom of Psalms and Job’s incendiary questioning of God’s ways, these magnificent works of world literature resonate with a startling immediacy. Featuring Alter’s generous commentary, which quietly alerts readers to the literary and historical dimensions of the text, this is the definitive edition of the Hebrew Bible.

This would be phenomenal to get in Logos, and I do hope that talks have already started to facilitate this process. Make sure to contribute to the UserVoice page for Alter's works.

Ha...I was about to come on here and say that I had started a thread some time back about getting Alter in Logos...and here it is! Still interested, even though I already bought HC version of Alter's volume on the Wisdom Books.

Totally agree about getting the whole enchilada in Logos...this iron should already be in the fire. In the last year, I've bought at least $1000 worth of hard copy books for stuff not available in Logos. Hope this isn't added to that list.

Well, even NY Times seems impressed. Maybe that'll help out Bellingham HQ.

Interesting, they also discuss the KJV ... nicely worded but no appreciation for hebrew.

Robert Alter's translation is always worth a look, even if not totally relied on.

I'm hopeful we'll see this in Logos before I have to break down and grab it in that best-known e-book format!

I realize I'm the one who started this thread, but after having just clicked the link above and read the first few lines of the WSJ article (probably all I'm ever going to read of it), I think my appetite is entirely gone. There is ZERO reason to translate b'rei'shiytth as "When...". This is utter nonsense. If I wasn't so accustomed to disappointment, I would be disappointed. Rather, I'm just "meh" on the verge of disgust.

i suggest you read the introduction of published translations (individual books as well as the Torah) first, he talks about how he translates differently...and he does it significantly differently than other English translations that i would not mind a little difference as "when"
