Create a new custom bible study guide, including the Word by Word report. Adjust the settings to only include infrequent words or particular parts of speech. Close the template (as noted already, changes made are 'live' there's no save/done/undo buttons).

Run the guide or edit it; the settings for Word by Word are not retained.

Since a Bible Word Study works with a Bible word, and the Exegetical Guide components, of which Word By Word section is one, work with a Bible reference, Word by Word cannot be added to a Bible Word Study template.

When "This guide works with:" is set to Bible word the Word by Word section is grayed out in the template. When it is set to Bible reference that is the only section not grayed out.

You can add Exegetical Guide components to a Passage Guide template (and vice versa) because both guides work with a Bible reference.

    Reviving an old post...

Melissa, I don't think you're quite understanding what Jon is saying. If I create a custom guide template, and add the "word by word" section to that template, it allows me to choose the settings for the "word by word" section. For example, show all parts of speech or only particular parts of speech.

But then once you go to use that guide you just created, those settings are not saved. It reverts back to the "show all" settings. This gobbles up a lot of time by rendering things I don't need it to render.

Timothy ~  Thank you for the post; you're right. I think Jon's statement about "Bible Study Guide" took me off in another direction. The problem with the Word by Word settings has been reported.  ~ Melissa
