D.T. Suzuki--Mysticism: A Christian and Buddhist Perspective
5706.MYSTICISM-no page numbers.docx
Attached is a little work by D.T. Suzuki entitled "Mysticism: A Christian and Buddhist Perspective".
Three things:
1. The copyright is 1959 so normally it would not be appropriate to share here. But the source of the file states explicitly that the copyright was not renewed and so it is fair game to duplicate and share. If anyone has information otherwise, please advise, but I trust the source of the file.
2. The file is includes the phrase-"no page numbers". This took a long time to produce and decided I could either have pagination or insert the footnotes. I chose the latter.
3. I personally find the book helpful, but I believe it is misnamed. Suzuki doffs his hat in recognition that Meister Eckhart's beliefs are often not within the norm of orthodox Christianity, but then goes on extensively to use Eckhart as the representative of Christianity with which to compare Buddhism. Perhaps the Title should be "Mysticism: Meister Eckhart's and a Buddhist Perspective" (But Suzuki didn't ask me).
I am attaching two cover photos. The first is just a scan of the cover of the hardback edition that I have. The other is a more attractive one from the net.

This is a classic of comparative mysticism ... thank you.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
