screen reader accessibility

I am a long-time Logos user (since 2006) and would like to talk with someone at Logos about screen reader accessibility. I do not need help but am interested in assisting with sincere efforts to improve accessibility. I have remained a Logos user despite many years of access difficulties. I would truly like to see this change. Let's talk please.

This company does not care about accessibility. I was a user of Libronix. I have around $3000.00 of resources in my account that i can't use because i am visually impaired. The sad fact is The technology that can be used to improved their product is available. However, they don't care about people like us who must use Jaws or window-eyes to access information.

Hiya,

I have just posted a link to some free software I found called f.lux. I am not sure if this would be of use to you but it enables a complete video invert (black - white) which I find increases the contrast. I thought I woudl post on the offchance it could help you. I have reading difficulties due to dyslexia which makes normal black on white very difficult to read but the added contrast from this does help me so I hope it can help you to :-)

just to say - it makes pictures very hard to see because they come out as gray scale negatives but appart from that I'm happy with it :-)

Sarah Blake Larose did you ever get a response from Logos. I am visually impaired and would love to use this software if possible with my screen reader. It has been 2 years since you last posted asking to assist them with their software's accessibility. I hope some progress has been made. Please let me know if Logos Bible software is any more accessible these days with screen readers Thank you.

White OR Yellow text on Black background is easier to read.

Using operating system to scale display can increase letter sizes across applications.

I keep emailing them each time I place another order. I have been able to arrange some workarounds in the PC app. What this means is that I am able to navigate to what I want using either library or search and export it. Logos staff have suggested using app.logos.com as an alternative. This has some promise but is not a fully accessible alternative with usable comparison features and does not have adequate navigation options if a person wants to look for an unknown item whose title they cannot remember. There are ways to make this much easier, but it really takes Logod sitting down with people who are blind and seeing how we work--those of us who use screen rreaders are not just using keystrokes instead of a mouse but often we understand the screen layout much differently from the way that a sighted person does because of the way that a screen reader provides information and because some people have simply never looked at a screen full of icons.

It would be very nice to be able to use a piece of software that offered the ability to do comparative study and to take advantage of linkages between resources. I remain convinced that it can be done, one way or the other. I also remain available to help. I am attempting to introduce Logos to my Hebrew and Greek students, all of whom are sighted. I am at a disadvantage since I have never personally experienced fully what Logos has to offer. I hope they are listening. I had 11 students last year who would have benefitted highly from Logos, but I could not demonstrate it in class. I would like to reverse the trend and be able to show the upcoming 16 students enrolled in my language courses how much Logos can benefit them. If I did this every year, it would be useful to my students and to Logos. Accessibility benefits everyone.

Hello Sarah, I also am blind and I use apple for my needs, on the mac Logos needs some major help, however on IOS it works vary well, theres a few issues I would like to see fixed up but over all it works vary well, for Greek and Hebrew studies it works great. Hope this helps.

Yes, IOS has been the most usable option for me with regard to the search feature and general reading inside the application. I would like to see better accessibility of the audio interface for accessing mobile ed and other audio content in the PC and other applications. The buttons are not labeled and it is not possible as far as I can tell to control the playback speed using any form of accessible controls.

While I agree with you, you can do those things on IOS. hit home and your audio classes and such should be there. Ive seen them but have not used them, I don't use audio much but I know the corses are there, I see them when I hit home on IOS in the app, theres videos and audio books there to I think. I know the PC or mac in my case would be a vary good option to and I agree with you, I would love to use those extra tools on desktop, however a lot of the stuff your looking for by the sound of it anyway can also be used on IOS. The app is a little bit clunky so I would guess the audio classes are clunky to, I know the ESV audio bible is vary clunky, I did use that once or twice and it was ruff with voiceover but it was usable.
