If you have gone through any of the courses included in this https://www.logos.com/product/138135/mobile-ed-tough-topics-bundle sale, would you be so kind as to share your thoughts--even if just to give a rating number on a 1-5 scale with 5 being the highest.  The courses are:

  • ET101 Law and Gospel: The Basics of Christian Ethics
  • NT395 Perspectives on Paul: Reformation and the New Perspective
  • OT291 The Jewish Trinity: How the Old Testament Reveals the Christian Godhead
  • TH275 Sacramental Theology
  • NT385 Book Study: Revelation

Thanks!

My concern is the 10% discount. I wanted to upgrade to P/C Gold. My price before this sale began was $122 and change. Now with the sale and the so called 10% discount is still $122 and change. Shouldn't it be less or is there a coupon we must apply?

    DAL

Ps. Yes, I did add a Mobile Ed course to the shopping cart along with the P/C Gold upgrade and the price on the upgrade didn't change.

If you have Logos Now, the Tough Topics discount does not stack with it.

The argument is that Logos Now gives us 10% off year round, whereas other customers only get 10% off during specific sales.

I'm hoping that when libraries generally go on sale again for everyone, it will be a combo discount, and LN members can save a little extra.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

OT291 The Jewish Trinity: How the Old Testament Reveals the Christian Godhead

This course is the forerunner to Dr. Heiser's Unseen Realm book. I watched the video portion during the free Mobile Ed preview weekend, but have not gone through the complete course, so I can't speak about it overall.

I thought the video portion was very good, and actually picked up the Tough Topics bundle specifically for this course, and NT385. 70% off was too good to pass up.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

I don't want to hijack my own thread, but ... I don't think it should be valid for Faithlife NOT to stack it.  It doesn't say only non LN members will save 10%.  The ad line reads as follows:

Get the most out of your Mobile Ed courses with Logos 7. Save 10% when you purchase it along with any course in this sale.

But LN members are NOT saving 10% by purchasing L7 along with any course in the sale.  They are paying the same price they would ordinarily pay for it as an LN member, for which honor they have already paid a fee.  If Faithlife is not going to stack the 10% advertised savings for their LN subscribers, that should be spelled out very clearly in a big, bold, colorful font.  I wasn't planning to buy a library so it doesn't affect me, but I feel the pain for others like DAL who were planning to do so.

Thanks Petah!  For me, it is hard to ignore Mobile Ed sales when the sales price reaches 70% off.  The course(s) still have to be of interest to me, but a 70% off sale does make me take a hard look.  One thing I haven't seen is when the sale ends.  Anyone seen that?

Where's the fun and extra benefit of being a LN member if discounts don't stack? 😕

Extra benefit? FL just gave us a $50 off coupon. I'm sure some people bought $100 libraries for $50. (Additional 50% off our regular 10% off.)

I understand FL position on the discount but as you pointed out Rick the advertising is misleading. FL have a history of not thinking through their marketing copy before going live with it. This is not the first time they have got it wrong. They should honour the stackable 10% discount to all Logos Now members, learn from the mistake, and get it right first up next time. I have never dealt with any other company who has to 'clarify' the terms and conditions, along with what it is you actually get for your money as much as FL has had to do.

That's beside the point. Based on the advertisement, it should be an additional 10% just for buying a course. It should have nothing to do with our already in place 10% discount. As other have mentioned, LN members are not really getting anything if we buy a course.

    True, True

I will probably not renew LN after this year- unless they really start making it worth while. I know some of us have different views on this program- but mine is I'm helping finance their R&D- which means I expect a lot more bells and whistles being brought forth to experiment with.

The packages they come up with really do not interest me that much any longer- unless they include resources I really want an save me a substantial amount, upgraded to Baptist plat. which will most likely be the last upgrade (since these offerings are full of (MO) junk works, I'll never use).

Individual resources to be honest I have been buying used in competitors or dead tree- saving tons of $$. Some resources are just better when book is in hand.

What has caused this change for me has been the fiasco that every time you hilite something it creates a new note file- I am done with hiliting in Logos- and have dumped the notes function as well. Not to mention that the linking has go to pot in Logos.

So frustration with this program can have absolutely nothing to do if I get an extra 10% or not- since I have by purchasing most of the new offering elsewhere have been saving 40% or better even off pre-pub.

This is by no means a condemnation of the software- simply just saying.

So expect now the worshippers will get started with their diatribe and we'll have to endure months of retort.

When I recently asked my rep about Logos Now discounts stacking with other promotional discounts, he not only told me that they do not stack, but, "The idea behind the Logos Now discount is to get you a discount when there isn't another one offered on either the library purchase or the feature set purchase" (as opposed to getting additional discounts when there already is a sale). I would have NEVER got that from Faithlife's marketing of Logos Now.

I have only seen this when reading a resource through a custom reading plan when the plan has exactly the same name as the resource.

Would this explain what you were seeing?

If you want to explore further I suggest starting a new thread

NT395 Perspectives on Paul: Reformation and the New Perspective

I've started working through this one - and finding it very good and useful thus far

But I'm only at the very early stages so can't comment on the entire course.

Thanks, Petah!  I thought I looked carefully (on the web site and in the email they sent out) but didn't see a date.  Where did you find it?  Aging eyes want to know.  [;)]

Thank you Graham--you're opinions are always highly valued.

I'm very interested in the bundle but I've been spending quite a bit with Faithlife as of late and feel the need to seriously contemplate before making this purchase, thus my interest in the sale end-date.  If you have the opportunity to get much farther into the course over the next few days, I'd be interested in knowing if you continue to find it as good and useful as you have so far.

I just called the Logos sales dept.  It took the rep a little while to find it, but he said the sale ends at 12:01 AM, on June 10th.  So it does indeed go through June 9th.

As I have been saying about this company for a long time this company puts out misleading advertising far too much. It will only be fixed when the problem is recognised by and taken ownership of by the head of the company and he drives change down through the ranks.

I have only worked partially through OT 291. From what I have gone through so far I highly recommend it and Mike is one of the most engaging mobile Ed instructors. Even if you don't agree with his take on every topic he is well worth then time listening too and reflecting upon what he has to say. It will challenge you to think about the basis of your own theology. And that's the whole point of doing Theology.

Thanks, doc!  I enjoy Mike's courses too.  I wish more of them would hit this 70% off level.  About the only time I can really consider ME courses are when they are being offered via CP or they hit this level of a sale.  As much as I would like to have more of the ME courses, even at 40%-50% off, they're too pricey for my wallet.  [:(]

The advertisemen says "Learn from Wright" but I don't see any instructor by the last name Wright; and if there was, is this NT Wright? I think there should be an NT Wright course on the NPP to hear the teaching directly from the horse's mouth.

Edit:  never mind I found it is NT Wight  on the five views on the millennium.

I have had a payment plan for too long, currently with 3 payments to go. This ME sale has several courses I am interested in, but my desire to be out of FaithLife debt is far greater than the pull to add a few of these courses to another payment plan. Anyway, I have many books in my library that I have not read which could keep me occupied for several years.

BUMP!  The sale on this https://www.logos.com/product/138135/mobile-ed-tough-topics-bundle ends in a few days and I would very much appreciate and new (or additional) feedback you might have on courses in the bundle.  Feedback on any of the courses is welcome, although at this point I'm particularly interested in the two courses below.

    • NT395 Perspectives on Paul: Reformation and the New Perspective
    • NT385 Book Study: Revelation

    Thanks!

With only two days left on the sale for this bundle, I'm going to risk being a pain-in-the-r___ (please limit choices to rump or rear) and bump this request for feedback one last time.

I'm interested in opinions on all of the courses and especially interested in NT395 and NT385.  If you have viewed any of the courses (in full or in part) and are willing to share your thoughts, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to those who have posted.

If you think that the bundle may be of interest to you, you could purchase it and try it for a month. If it doesn't meet your expectations or needs, just contact Logos for a refund.

    Blessings on your studies [:)]

    Hi Rick,

In response to your request. I have completed ET101. In my opinion a very good course. It took me five months to complete the course - there was a lot of reading. The instructor is easy to listen to and he explained the difficult concepts in an easy to follow manner. The course was well worth the money. I gained as much from this course as I have from any of the courses I have taken at university.

I have started NT395 and so far very enjoyable. The instructor is not as easy to listen to but obviously knows the subject matter and is of the caliber/stature that he is worth seeking out, outside of the course.

I was pleased with my purchase and have not suffered from "buyer's remorse" after purchasing the bundle.

Please note. It is recommended on the Logos website that the prospective student own, at a minimum, the Platinum level of Logos 7 because of the number of resources that are required for the courses. This is not a hollow recommendation.

    All the best.
