E-books to Logos
I'm sure there are already a plethora of forums for this. Unfortunately, my search results for said topic are not satisfactory for me, so if someone could please just direct me that way, I would be very grateful. Basically, I am looking for an easy way, which I am willing to pay for, to turn my iBooks and Kindle books into Logos books. Thank you.

I did create a tool to help with the conversion from Kindle to Logos some months back:

It's still has several glitches, but definitely speeds up the process compared to doing it all manually...

Since we don't know which methods you've tried and discarded, let me suggest Calibre to convert all ebook formats into a .docx format that you can build into personal books for Logos. It works for many of us, and I've converted a "bunch" of books for my own library.

That depends on how much work you want to devote to the Word docx. For example, if it's a commentary, you'll likely want to tag it with bible milestones and compile it as type "Bible Commentary". The type Bible Commentary will enable the resource to appear in a Passage Guide for an appropriate bible reference. The bible milestones will create a Bible index which enables the commentary to be put in a Link Set with a bible and will scroll with it and enable navigation by way of the reference box.

Depends on what you mean.
For clarification: Faithlife has no intent for you to be able to import books from other sources into Logos. They have a tool called the "personal book builder" tool which allows you to create personal books using Microsoft Word (.docx) file format. There are a number of things you can do with personal books to increase their functionality, but those things take a lot of work. A "basic" personal book will auto hyperlink standard bible references (i.e. John 3:16) for you. If your book uses various heading styles, it may also create a TOC automatically. A basic personal book is similar in quality to a Vyrso edition resource in Logos. As mentioned, however, you can add more functionality if you want to put in the work. You cannot, however, make your own "Logos edition" resource, which would be necessary to gain full access to all tools & guides.

Okay, thank you for the information.
You guys seem to be pretty savvy on Logos, maybe you can help me out with this (the customer tech support guys can't seem to figure it out).
I have been trying to go through course LT271, learn to use Logos by studying Jonah 1, but more than half the time I can't get the videos to come up. This isn't a networking or hardware issue...the error I get is that it simply cannot find the video.
Anybody have anything similar? I tried "downloading all media" but it wouldn't work.
Maybe to get around this altogether: I finished the "quickstart" videos that logos provides, and want to take the 'next' step in delving deeper into my studies using logos. What is the next, most logical step to do that?

You should start a new thread when you switch topics. I had some problems with classes that worked much better when you open the course with the Logos app. Do you load it from the Logos app?

Mostly papers and documents that you create yourself. http://www.learnlogos.com/ has a lot of training courses that come with a personal ebook to add.

I don't think there is a "typically" except that "Logos doesn't offer."

FYI: if an eBook is converted to Logos resource format (with better tagging, ...), then eBook owners tend to receive free resource upgrade.

To add clarity to this comment it refers to Vyrso e-books only, it does not refer to e-books published by other companies.

Recently I've used pandoc (https://pandoc.org) for epub-to-word conversion. In general, I find its docx output better than Calibre's. Not always, but in general. Pandoc does not support mobi, though, so then the route is mobi -> epub (Calibre), then epub -> docx (pandoc). Still lots of cleanup left for linking and tagging, but a well-formatted epub comes across with H1..Hn styles intact, fewer image glitches, etc.

Hi there — N00B Logos user here, so please forgive if this is the wrong place to ask...
I found this conversation as I'm looking for a way to get my theology texts on Kindle into Logos as a Personal Book.Things seem to have evolved since this convo, and I can't find one more recent. Specifically, MacOS > Calibre is a no-go even with the various copy protection plugins.
I'm hoping someone can share some more updated info on the topic.

Hello Mike and welcome to the Logos forums!
Actually things haven't changed much in the Logos PB area for years. It's still the same: you need to convert whatever format you have into MS Word docx, then compile with the Logos PB tool. Personal books still will work on any of your Logos desktop machines, but not on mobile. You may easily use Libre Office if you don't do Microsoft, but it's still docx format you need to have. Logos can't read mobi, epub or pdf.
I can't say anything about MacOS and whatever applications work there or not, I'm afraid.

I'm on a Mac and trying to get Kindle files into personal books and hung up on DRM. It seems that the state of Mac Kindle>Calibre w/ DeDRM has changed (while the Logos method after that point is still good). I'm deep down rabbit holes at Mobileread and Apprentice Alf. So if someone knows something in that area and wants to help, I'd be obliged.
(That said, I'm so geeked out with Logos, this seems like a superficial problem. I've been importing my bible study curriculum as notes and watching the verses auto link and swooning. Glad to be here.)

That plus Calibre and I can create a DocX from any of my Kindle books.

Faithlife says it's Amazon's fault that they no longer support the "send to kindle" feature, but instead of exporting books to word, they could make the mobi format available. Is there such a possibility somewhere?

Concur Amazon wanted customers to purchase eBooks from Amazon for use on Amazon's Kindle devices (so Amazon has an ongoing profit motive for disabling/discouraging "Send to Kindle" from other eBook vendors).
Possibility is creating feedback item(s) in appropriate board(s) for users to vote => https://feedback.faithlife.com/ Announcement => New Faithlife Feedback Boards (Faithlife development has more to develop than available time & resources so votes are helpful for prioritization discussions)

Faithlife's eBook conversion process shows a number of opportunities for improvement as Wordsearch resources are being converted for use in Faithlife apps => Wordsearch Bible Software (so suspect exporting to mobi would have similar formatting challenges)
