Fuzzy Search

I was happy to see a video tutorial on Fuzzy Searches. At https://soundfaith.com/logos-media/920533-4895874-- it said to click on Search in upper left. Select Basic and to search Everything. Using your best guess about the wording, put in the verse you are hunting for with the words you remember. Or put in key words from the verse.
I was hunting for the verse about the "besetting sin." I followed the above instructions and entered "sin that so easily besets us." The search results brought up one modern Bible, which didn't use the word "beset" and 14 articles where words such as "sin," "that" and "so" were highlighted. Some of these articles might have pointed me to the Bible verse but I had thought this was to be a rather quick search. I was surprised only one Bible was include in the search. So I changed over to Bible search (All Bible Text, All Passages, All Bible). This gave me a one line result with zero results. So I went to my free e-Sword Bible Software and easily found the verse. In KJV, the word is "beset" and not "besets."
Now that I had found the verse and had corrected this important word, I went back to Logos. Following the Fuzzy Search directions and using "beset," the search found my verse this time.
Obviously this is not how it's supposed to work. What did I do wrong?

When I do the Fuzzy Search I get the reference to the verse I think you are looking for at the top of the search results
From your description I think you get the same results but I'm not sure
But it is showing the verse in my highest prioritised version - in my case the NIV. This is as per the description of the feature at https://community.logos.com/forums/t/132569.aspx
Were you looking for it to return the actual text of the verse in the KJV?

I see the same results whether I use beset or besets. Can you post screenshots showing them?

The fuzzy Bible search operates across all versions of the Bible that we have on our servers, plus additional sources of information. However, the results are displayed in your preferred Bible.
The highlighting shows places where there are exact matches of the wording used in the search, but does not actually directly reflect the mechanism used to select or rank the verses that are returned by the search.
When I try your suggested search, it seems to get back the correct verse as the very first result (Hebrews 12:1). Are you seeing something different?
If you were hoping to find which translation best matches your desired wording, then unfortunately, this tool is not an exact match for what you are trying to accomplish. You could use the Text Comparison tool with the top few matches to try and find the translation that matches what you were looking for. You could even make use of panel linking between the Text Comparison tool and a Bible so that you only need to click on the verse in the search results to compare the different translations.

Thanks for your prompt reply. This is something I usually have to wait and do on weekends so that's why I'm so late responding.
I did not notice, until you brought it up, that the search results only use your preferred Bible (as clearly stated in the tutorial). In the NET Bible I've been using this year, there is no form of the word "beset" so there was no return. I'll try your suggestion of using the Text Comparison Tool.

With the Fuzzy Bible Search, it doesn't matter which Bible is your preferred one. You will still get back the same list of results in the same order. The only difference is that the verses will be displayed using your preferred Bible.

I think you are saying that if my search uses the options Basic and Everything, that my search words (not including the quote marks) "sin that so easily besets us" should give me Hebrews 12:1 even though the NET Bible has "sin that clings so closely" in its translation.
Graham had suggested that I send a screen shot. I'm sure I'm leaving off something very small that is very important. Please let me know if the ScreenShot doesn't work. I tried to put it in the body of this post but got an error message when I tried to Post it. So I'm using the Attach method.0 -
I had not caught earlier that the search would use my primary Bible but I didn't care what Bible it used or if it even listed the verse itself. I just wanted the reference. The NET Bible says (without quotes) "sin that clings so closely" Following your suggestion, I'm attaching a ScreenShot.
Thanks for your assistance

Just as I posted my reply to you, I noticed that your ScreenShot has the word FUZZY BIBLE SEARCH. You will notice in the ScreenShot I just sent you that those words are missing on my search, although you can see the NET Bible listed with no returns.

This feature requires either a Logos Now or certain levels of Logos Cloud subscription.
Do you subscribe to either?

Thanks Andrew - I had forgotten that
Would it be possible to get this information added to the feature comparison page at https://www.logos.com/compare/feature-sets

I had neither Now or Cloud so that explains why it wasn't working. This is not the first time I've spent time trying to make a feature work (and dragging others in with me) only to discover it requires features I don't have. I'm glad it's been added so I can use it (I think that's what's been said, although I haven't tried it yet).
Thanks for your help

Thanks, Graham for all your responses. I don't subscribe to Now or Cloud and hadn't seen or heard in the tutorial that that was a requirement. If I understand correctly, it sounds like it's been added to what I do have. But I'm in software support and in my world, you don't believe it until you see it. Again, thanks

Just wanted to clarify this.
There has been no change to the software as a result of this thread - so please don't expect any change in what you are seeing.
Andrew pointed out that the feature was included in the feature sets - as opposed to just in Logos Now or Cloud subscriptions - and the feature set comparison chart has been updated to reflect this.
But you still need - at least - the Starter Feature set for Fuzzy search to be available to you.
