I second that!

Thanks for the update info. On the side when I went to merge index it would start then the program would stop working.
Logos 4 Platinum running on Windows 7 Home Premium.
Anyone else have this problem?

i am just experiencing LONG indexing (relatively speaking) After the 200 Meg download, i had about 1 hour to index. Went upstairs, got the kids ready for school, took them there, and came back to the laptop fan in high gear and 4 hours needed still to index (last I looked before going upstairs, it was around 35 minutes)

I don't think I got this. I have L4 Platinum. I wasn't running Logos overnight. When I started it up this morning and type "Update Now" it tells me no updates are available.
How do you know what your last update was and whether it is workign properly?

The suggestion by Sumair Mirza and others is an excellent idea. An optional RSS feed on the Home Page for notices on program and resource updates would be helpful. "Logos Updates" right after "Logos Pre-Pubs". Perhaps with detail on the resource updates for those really interested. But just a notice of an available program or resource update would be fine with me. Something like:
The following n Megabyte Logos Program Update was released Jan. 12, 2010:
Logos 4.0a SR-3 (v4.0.1.3.5180)
The following Logos Resource Update* was released Feb. 11, 2010:
The Amarna Letters (AMARNA.logos4, LLS:8.30.1) dated Jan. 29, 2010 to correct typos.
…
* Only unlocked resources are downloaded to your system.

Thanks, Melissa. Always nice to know what is being updated.

I had the indexer problem on both my laptop and desktop. Both are Windows 7. The Laptop would give me a notice that it had quit working. The desktop, when I would hover over it to see how much time remained it would simply disappear.
I done a rebuild index (4 to 5 hours with Scholars plus a few more collections).

The following updated resources may be downloaded to your computers (if Automatically Download Updates is enabled):

You can look at your Resources** folder, sort by date modified and easily see when it was last updated. If it indexed OK you should see the same date on files in your LibraryIndex** folder.
** under the Logos4\Data folder at:-
XP -> C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4
Vista/Win7 -> C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Logos4

Thanks Dave. Here's my info:
When I go to C:\Users\Larry\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\5m5tts5h.n3c\ResourceManager\Resources and sort by date, the last date is 1/13/2010 (there are 58 files with that date) . However, I know I upgraded to Platinum after that (1/31/2010), and I don't know where those files are.
In the libraryindex folder the database file is 2/1/2010, the others are all 2/1/2010.
Does that make any sense to you?

This is great. How can I find out this same information in the future? Meaning when I see future updates coming where is the best place to find out the content of the download?
Thanks,
Chuck

Currently the forums are the best place to find these things out. You can set your settings to "Automatically Download updates" to No and then when you see Logos notifying you that updates are available come to the forum and check the Logos 4 forum for a thread like this one (or release notes for a new version).

The previous general download was 58 files on 13 Jan (I have the same). So are you missing any resources from Platinum as your index is consistent with the date you upgraded? Did you upgrade from DVD?

Sorry to be stupid, but how would I know if I am missing any? I don't know how to find that out. When I search for a passage, the stuff that I think should come up usually does, but I don't take careful stock to see. Is there some sort of program or script or something that can check
what is actually installed against the licenses that I own and should
have installed?I know am missing some out of L3 (such as PNTC) that I thought was supposed to download all the Platinum resources. I got some of them through the download link, but not all apparently.
In L4, I upgraded strictly from download. I had L3 Gold installed, and then went to L4 (the free engine) and then to L4 Platinum from download.

"Update Resources" in the command bar (no quotes) instructs Logos 4 to check the versions of the books it has with the servers to see if everything is up-to-date. It can take quite a while to finish. Occasionally there are resources that Logos doesn't have the rights to distribute via a download (mostly older stuff) that need to be installed under Libronix and then brought over into you Logos 4 folder with the scan command.

Thanks Kevin,
When I type Update Resources or Update Now (which I have done several times over the past few days), it tells me "no updates available" and "No updates were found." So i am not sure what to make of that with respect to this update dated 2/11/2010.
For instance, I check my file MWDICT11.logo4 on my computer and it is dated 10/29/2009; I would think this update should have updated that to 2/2/2010 (according to the first page list). I am not sure about other files since I know I don't have some of the files listed on page 1, but I didn't go through to see what all I did have.
So shouldn't I get at least something from this update?

Yes, you probably should have.
The first thing I would try in your situation is to check this folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<Random>\UpdateManager\Resources to see if anything was downloaded.
The next thing I would do is delete the contents of this folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<Random>\LibraryCatalog, perhaps there's something about the list of books Logos is keeping that is preventing updated copies from downloading. After Logos starts run the Update commands again.
If that doesn't work I would probably rename\delete C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\UpdateManager\updates.db
These are just guesses on my part on where a problem might be (keep in mind that the AppData folder is hidden). Just make certain Logos is not running when you delete or rename this stuff.

I'm not getting any updates either. I tried what you recommended to no avail.

David and Larry,
Delete C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\UpdateManager\updates.db and
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\DownloadManager\DownloadManager.db + other files/sub-folders

Dave,
I did as you requested, and I am still not receiving the updates. I haven't gone through the entire list, but I know I should at least receive updates for the Amarna letters (2009-12-9) and Targums (2009-10-29).
FYI, there were no folders in the DownloadManager folder. Only the .db file.
I shut down L4, deleted the .db files, restarted L4, typed "Update Now"

Also it might be the case that it is running and the download jobs have failed - in that case make sure L4 isn't running and view this post http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8136/66083.aspx#66083 - the code to reset the list is bitsadmin /reset - then launch L4

Hi,
I've removed aforementioned db files, checked that BITS is running, bitsadmin is saying 0 jobs, and still no updates.
Help?

Are the Post Nicene Fathers coming out in full overtime or is it just these selected volumes? Will they show up in the Scholars library?

I think mine finally updated, though I didn't do anything (like delete the files suggested) to cause it. I didn't have time to mess with it, and I didn't want to risk problems that I couldn't take time to fix at that point.
My most recent update now is 2/17/10 (236 files ... all from the theological journals (vol 1-5). I also have eleven files on 2/11.
So I am not sure if I am up to date or not.But at least something updated.
I wonder if Logos could do some sort of "resource check" program that would make it easy to compare your resources (date and filesize) with the master list on their server. That way, rather than "taking their word for it" (through the update feature), we could actually see it.

Deleting those files is very safe!

George,
Thanks for the info. BITS was not running, so I started it. I shut down L4, deleted \UpdateManager\updates.db and \DownloadManager\DownloadManager.db, restarted L4, typed Update Resources, but no updates are downloading.

George,
Does ZoneAlarm affect updates downloading?

George,
btw, bitsadmin /list shows zero jobs, and bitsadmin /reset says zero jobs canceled.

Make sure its firewall allows internet access by Logos4Indexer.exe & Logos4.exe
