Bradley, is there any way for me to verify the updates waiting for me to download do NOT include the 7.11 application updates? I ask, because in "Settings", I have "Automatically download updates" set to "No", and yesterday I saw the issues being posted before downloading any updates in Logos so I didn't download the update and I'm still on 7.10, even though I would have liked to download a few resources I'd purchased in Vyrso.Bro. D Deryl Downey said:Could you give an idea of what the problem is?
It appears to be a hang in WPF layout introduced in .NET 4.7. (Grid-based UI that worked fine in Logos 7.10 on .NET 4.5 can now hang in Logos 7.11 on .NET 4.7 with no changes in our application code.)
Since this (from our initial investigation) seems to be in Microsoft's code, the exact mechanism of the failure is not fully clear to us yet.
We've removed Logos 7.11 from automatic updates for Windows users while we continue to investigate.
This morning, Logos is showing exactly the same download size as it did yesterday (i.e. 205.8 MB). I would like to download the Vyrso resources I purchased yesterday, but want to make sure the download will NOT include the 7.11 application update. Since the download size has not changed, I'm concerned downloading the resources might include the download for 7.11. Is there any way to know it won't?

I have Logos 7.11 and .net 4.7 and Windows 8.1 and Logos seems to work fine so far.
Microsoft seems t have .net 4.7.1 available, I don't know whether it is any better.
It seems that .NET 4.7.1 may fix this problem. If you are able, go ahead and try installing that.

I updated to 4.7.1 and it works fine in my quick test. (Also the 4.7 worked in my computer)

What are the procedures for installing .net 4.7.1? I'm not familiar with this.

You can find the installer for .NET 4.7.1 on microsoft's website at: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4033344/the-net-framework-4-7-1-web-installer-for-windows
We have found a general fix for the problem, and expect to ship a fix for this and a couple crash problems later today (barring some unexpected event).

Does that mean Logos will be sending an e-mail with an update?
Additionally, does that mean then, that it would not be best to not install the .net 4.7.1?Thanks.

I found this https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dotnet/2017/10/17/announcing-the-net-framework-4-7-1/
Then open "web installer" which downloads an installer file.
You have to start the file, running as administrator. Then all programs.
Tick boxes when necessary and press "yes" buttons.
It takes a while before the lower green bar begins to move.
Then it requires restart.

Installing .NET 4.7.1 seems to have resolved my issue with Logos starting but it seems a little slower than normal but so far it looks like this is a fix for the problem.

It does not hurt to install .NET 4.7.1, but if you are willing to wait for the update, then it's not required.
Once the update ships, you'll be able to manually download an installer using the instructions on this page: https://www.logos.com/install

Andrew,
Thank you for the .NET 4.7.1 tip which has restored functionality.
I also appreciated the improved Webapp I fell back on while I was waiting

Yes! Installing the .NET 4.7.1 update solved my Logos 7.11 woes too. Thanks to Veli Voipio for first raising the issue and to Andrew Batishko for providing the link (on page 3 of this conversation).
I first tried using the standard Microsoft Update, but it didn't list the .NET 4.7.1 update even among their recommended updates. But the link provided by Andrew did the trick. Good to be back in business.

I join the several others* who cannot restart Logos once the latest update is applied (7.11.0.0023). Rebooting the computer didn't fix it. Starting Logos while holding the CTRL key was only a temporary fix. The circle just keeps turning while Logos uses 25-50% of my system resources.
* See also "Logos Hanging With Latest Update" (https://community.logos.com/forums/t/154784.aspx ).
I appeal to the Logos tech team to recommend a fix as soon as possible. As a Biblical Studies professor, Logos is my bread and butter in the classroom. Thanks in hope,

PS I wouldn't want to have to call in sick tomorrow
This has been fixed in 7.11 SR-1.
