Automatic Item Theme Functionality

Previously if I already had pulled a theme into Proclaim, every new item would duplicate that theme (i.e. if the slide theme was "The First Noel," adding a "Content" slide or a "Bible" slide would be added with that same theme). I've noticed recently though that every time I add a new item, it utilizes a blank black theme.

Secondly, if this ever did happen in the past, I could always click on "Background," and quickly change the theme to the one in the presentation.

Both of these options no longer exist. Is this an error in my particular installation of Proclaim, or have these features been removed?

It's inconvenient because every time I want to add an item, I need to duplicate an already existing slide and adjust it for what I need.

Thank you for bringing this up and I apologize for the inconvenience this maybe causing.

What you are experiencing is what is expected though. We had that feature in Proclaim, but moved away from it because we saw a lot of traffic with people using multiple slide backgrounds in their presentation. We now default to a black background in Proclaim.

What you can do is set a 'default' background (Settings > Default Media) which will allow you to create a service item and have the background automatically be applied to that service item.

However, I believe you will have to set a new default background for everything presentation you create if you are wanting to use a new 'theme' for each new presentation you create.

Thanks for the information. I can see how mixing themes in one presentation could make that chaotic, however I would be in favor of returning that feature to Proclaim. Perhaps I'm the only one though.

At a minimum, it would be nice if you could bring back the ability to choose the theme from the "Background" dropdown. When I'm creating 20-50 slides for a sermon presentation, it gets laborious to have to constantly right click, then click "duplicate," then reposition the slide, then overwrite it with the updated data.

Removing that feature has increased the amount of time it takes me to create a presentation. I'd rather streamline it then add to it.

I totally get what you mean and I will let the team know and see what we can do.

Have you tried setting a default background for each individual service item? You can set a default background for content, song, announcement, and a bible slide and that will save the step of having to go to browse media > background and applying the background over and over again.

I have not tried that, however it doesn't seem user friendly to change that for every presentation. Especially when we've got multiple people working on the same presentation. One person chooses the theme, then if they forget to change the default, it's almost impossible for a second person to find that same theme in the Media Browser.

Hey John,

In the media browser we have a whole section on the left side that has all the media series from your current presentation. You can then select and add items from the same series via the media browser. (see my screenshot as an example)

Thanks Matt. That looks like a new feature I was unaware of. That will be a great help.

If I could add my user voice to the mix of things, I'd still be in favor of returning to two things...

(1) The ability to have the "default new slide theme" determined by the predominant slide theme in the current presentation. Maybe that could even be an option in the "Default Media" setting so that not everybody would be forced to utilize it.

(2) Allowing themes within the current presentation to come up when you click on "Background."

While both are important to me, (2) is more important.
