New Here with Questions

Can someone advise me what computer hardware specs might be required to use Proclaim for recording and editing. Would I need a high performance video card for example?

Each message would have a combination of videos and Power Point slides, as well as audio.

Also, if I download lyrics from CCLI, how do I synchronize the texts with soundtracks?

Welcome to the forums and to the Proclaim world, I am sure that you will find this developing program a great help in presenting services.

I am not a windows user but almost any of the iMac and MacBook computers will perform well. Faster processors always help and bumping up the memory to over 8gig will pay dividends.

If you download the lyrics from CCLI you normally synchronise the soundtrack manually as you go through the song. I do this week by week.

In fact Proclaim is so easy to use that I often just give the computer to a likely looking teenager and tell them which button to press.

Do you have a particular use scenario in mind?

I'm not a Windows user either. I use Linux, but switching back to Windows as PowerPoint is simple easier for me to use.

What I want to do are PowerPoint presentations, and at a specified point, is to show lyrics for a hymn with a sound track. I have it figured out how to time the lyrics and tracks in PowerPoint.

I may have just a video to show at a specific point on the message.

Just need to know if I can insert 10 or so PowerPoint slides that have an audio track with them, into Proclaim. This would allow the congregation to view the lyrics as the track plays.

Hello David,

You can transfer control over to PowerPoint, which will actually use PowerPoint to present the slides in that file. As for computer recommendations, just ensure that it has it's down dedicated graphics card, as opposed to something like an integrated Intel chip. Most fairly new computers will be fine in terms of the processor and memory. Most of them, from what I gather, will have at least an Intel i5 processor or better, and around 8GB of RAM for memory. Those are perfectly fine for Proclaim.

So Proclaim is a presentation software that is specifically geared towards the ministry. You have certain features, such as the On-Screen Bible (https://support.proclaimonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/202971319-On-Screen-Bible), as well as a standard text Bible, and other features like Trivia that's available.

While many of the things inside Proclaim may be possible in PowerPoint, PowerPoint wasn't designed for the purpose of a Church service. So it lacks certain features that make your presentation smoother and more user friendly for your purposes, such as being able to add a Bible reference on the go with our Quick Screens, or being able to easily record your Sermons and publish them on Soundfaith (https://support.proclaimonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/205828426-Getting-Started-Recording-Sermon-Audio)

There's much more, and it would be really difficult for me to cover everything. You were interested in slides that have audio and video elements, and you can certainly do those things with just Proclaim alone. It's included. It is internet based, so you need an internet connection, but adding any verse is as simple as typing it in. You also can use the Bible translations that are freely available, or any ones you own through https://www.logos.com/.

It's worth mentioning that Proclaim is cloud based. So whatever changes you make, syncs with our servers. That way you can collaborate and work with other people. If you wanted to access your presentations from a different computer, all you would need to do is download Proclaim and login to your account, all your presentations are available. So it's very flexible in that regard.

You can make presentations offline. You can also save the presentation to your computer, and restore it from the file. But if you don't have an internet access while you are creating the presentation, you will not have access to certain things like the Media Boards or the On-Screen Bible. The reason is, if those were saved to your machine rather than downloaded when you need them, it would take up a massive amount of space.
