Massive resource update
Hi,
Is there any information about the current mass update of many (of not all) ebook resources? Did anyone notice any improvements?
(Some of the old Vyrso resources really would need improvements, so any update is most appreciated!)

I'm not sure what constitutes "massive" but I did experience 56 ebook (Vyrso) updates over the last two days. I would also be interested in knowing the reason for so many updates. My guess it is that it is simply part of Faithlife's ongoing updating of resources.

No... Vyrso resources aren't "updated" in the same sense that Logos Editions are.

Vyrso resources are auto converted from the publisher "ePub" files. The method and parameters for the conversion have evolved a bit as FL determined better ways to make the auto conversion work "best." At some point not too long ago, a FL employee mentioned that a "massive" (hundreds and hundreds) of Vyrso resources would be reconverted to improve the quality (i.e. to add TOC's, etc.).

Some concern was expressed (by me? I can't remember! [:)]) about such a large update all at once. I think I remember that they were going to spread out the updates. I have experienced periodic eBook updates for a couple months now.

Surely they weren’t pushed down to our computers for no reason so there must have been something that was updated changed in these files that resulted in the download that four of us have noticed.

I'm certainly no expert JT but it sounds like you are being very technical in your definition of updating. I know that they don't update the same way as Logos books but isn't "reconverting" to improve the books updating as well?

Hi Doc! [:)] As I mentioned in the next paragraph, I believe these are being re-auto converted.Disciple of Christ (doc) said:Surely they weren’t pushed down to our computers for no reason
Yes I was being technical. I was trying to clarify this point:Bruce Dunning said:I'm certainly no expert JT but it sounds like you are being very technical in your definition of updating. For Logos edition resources, FL has a process of "ongoing updates" where they go back in and manually updates the files to add new features, new links, etc. I don't think this is that, which is all that I was saying. Thanks for clarifying.

So the files are being updated, something in the auto conversion process must of changed or gone wrong previously, or the publisher has provided updated fikes for FL to go to the effort of pressing the auto convert button. There would be no point to this exercise if all we are getting is a time stamp change.
I did understand you were pushing the envelope on being technical with your explanation. I‘m just pushing it back because I think clarity was lost in what you said even though the intention was right.

Yes, sorry for that.
