Faithlife Connect - I'm out!

I paid for a year of 'Logos Now' in advance. You can't transfer me, it's a different product and not what I paid for.

$200 a year for the full feature set? You guys seem to be making this stuff up as you go along, it' so irritating. I genuinely fear that I will one day wake up to find that faithlife is out of business.

Regarding the image below; the product launched today and I imagine that the majority of customers are on starter. In what particular sense is this the most popular?

I'm not sure but doesn't the transfer provide everything you paid for and more? I can understand not renewing, don't get me wrong. But as I read it, it sounded as if for the period for which you have already paid, you are getting more ... but under a different name and a different renewal price.

Logos Now included the full feature set, whereas the new service requires you to pay double. As I have been transferred to Connect starter already, I'm assuming I get what is included in that package

Ah, just read the email again and I can see that the benefits are being extended. Very pricey though and I struggle with this constant morphing of the product. I will probably just not renew

If you check your subscriptions in your Logos profile, you should see that you have access to Logos Now through Nov. 13, 2018. Connect Starter runs concurrently with that. If you want the Connect equivalent to Now, you'll have to shell out $240 after Nov. 13.

You should also be getting an email at some point with a fairly hefty coupon code. I'm using mine to buy the Full Feature set, and then, like you, I'm out.

That's interesting, how'd you hear about the coupon code?

It is my understanding from speaking to FL that yo will keep your present features through Logos Now until November 12 or the renewal of your subscription, whichever is longest. I just opened Logos and updated and I seem to have kept all my Full Feature Set up to this point. But my previous objections that I posted on this forum and the Faithlife Connect forum still stands. BTW: I tried to post it on the Logos Now Forum, but the moderated would not allow my objection to be posted on the forum....what are they hiding?

Logos will maintain my full feature set until my renewal date.  But then I will have to pay extra $100 to get access to Hebrew Lemmas and Sermon Editor (just two of the missing features from the "Starter" Connection, but the two critical to me).  After I moved a lot of materials to the Sermon Editor, now I have to get it back to Microsoft Word or pay? mmmm... it's so close to ransomware!

So I'm thinking about using the $200 coupon to get a Logos 8 feature set (not subscription type) and then never, never again upgrade... a "freeze in time" Windows 10 Logos 8 machine, ha ha!

I wonder if the policy will still be true that 2-3 months after a major release, the "free" engine is released? That has happened with every version of Logos so far...if that continues, than your software will always be compatible with latest versions of operating systems, even though you won't necessarily get new datasets/features etc. - but what you have will continue to work as software evolves.

I wonder if that policy will continue.

I am sure it will continue.

DOUBLE the price for what I get now?  How can they justify this massive price rise in these days of low inflation?

This is why I do not like subscription software or services.  Faithlife seems to be taking a page out of DirecTV's playbook.  Create many confusing levels and then charge outrageous prices for them.

I was initially leery of Logos Now, but subscribed anyway.  It has proved worthwhile.  However, Faithlife just convinced to turn off "auto-renew" and stick with regular base package.

It's really sad to see Logos, er, Faithlife turn into "that" kind of company.  Greed is a sin.

    Greed is a sin.

    [:(]

We don't know the reason(s) why they made that decision. Only God knows a person's heart.

Let's not accuse them of sinning, please, especially since none of us are without sin.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Just turned of the auto renew. If we all do that I think they'll get the idea and maybe reconsider. Before this I was a happy Logos Now subscriber. Now, I have a very bad taste in my mouth regarding this company.

I have to concur, Greg. To hurl a price from 100.00 to 200.00 American ( a lot more here in Canada) leans heavily to the realm of the bizarre.

This starts with one individual, who then suggest it to his comrades and then on to us the bewildered customer.

We have all read regarding those (including myself) who were on the Fence as to buying into this LN, some saying it was out of their ballpark financially. I'm sure those same ones now are feeling like investing into a huge bottle of Pepto Bismol, but only of course when it's on sale. :-)

I had it for a year and personally found no extra added value for me. Of course, that is merely subjective.

Philippians 2:3Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Yes, i too am out.  I won’t be renewing.

Correct me if I'm out of bounds here, but Faithlife Connect has been out for a while now.  I reviewed what they had to offer when it first came out.  I did not see any added value in Faithlife Connect over Logos Now, so I stayed with my subscription to Logos Now.

I'm also not comfortable with how Faithlife has rolled out this transition process either.  I would like further information on why they are changing their subscription services and the reasoning to discontinue a service that so many appreciated.

Just seems a little underhanded, It appears I'm left with 3 options; either purchasing stand alone software to maintain level of features I'm accustomed too. 2) Continue to pay nearly $100 a year for a soon to be immensely down graded service.  3) Pay more than double the price to maintain the same level of service I've enjoyed since they offered Logos Now.  Obviously, I could do nothing and let the service run out and not renew...but then I'm left with what?  Outdated software, thus I feel that this is not a good decision on their behalf.

+1 [Y] uncomfortable [:S] while giving Thanks to God

One option to maintain current cost is converting Logos Now to Verbum Now by contacting Customer Service => Verbum Now and Faithlife Connect

That's assuming, less than 24 hours after launch, that FL won't get around to making "Verbum Connect" before November. Verbum is probably just lagging behind Logos as usual, and I'd bet they will get to it eventually.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice...

ETA: And really, if they keep Verbum Now the same but force Logos to the inflated "FaithLife Connect"--isn't that rather horrible?

+1 [Y] while Thankful for earlier Faithlife reactions to customer feedback (albeit wish Faithlife had discussed Connect planning with customers before implementing migration, even though migration includes many months of previous privileges plus Connect capability expansion along with credit that appears to refund Logos Now for future purchase).

The product being offered appeals only to a limited subset of the population that isn't growing rapidly. In order to increase revenues they either have to change that or increase prices.

Supply and Demand will find a new equilibrium point and future decisions will be based on whether or not that equilibrium provides the desired revenue.

I ended my auto renewal today to provide immediate feedback and because I found $99 was an appropriate price for the features I used the most, free book, web app, and discounts. I spent $6.7k on orders since 2016.

I was told I can't switch my membership to Verbum Now which would provide the benefits I use the most at an appropriate price for me.

When my Logos Now runs out in September if I find miss those features enough I will start a Verbum Now subscription. Depending on what features you use the most, that might also be a viable alternative to others. Verbum Now is not supposed to convert to Faithlife and it is $99 a month unless that gets increased also at the same time Faithlife Connect takes over.

I want to express my complete and utter dissatisfaction and frustration over what Faithlife is doing to Logos Now. Logos just keeps raising and raising the prices on their services. Now, the problem with me is that they are raising prices on features that, for the past years since Logos 7 has been out, I have been using.

The email does not really tell you this information but I called Logos and spoke with a CS Rep to see what I would be missing unless I wanted to come off of another $100 a year. Because those of you that have Logos Now at the present moment that just subscribed you to the starter feature set; so that when your subscription renewal comes due and unless you come off of the money you will lose the following (and I am sure that this is not all); Sermon Editor, Bible Browser, Concordance, Active Lemma and those are just the ones that were named to be quickly. These are things that I use everyday of my life and unless I come off another $100 I will lose and it does not seem right.

So you double my price for the same features that I currently have? I do not know how Faithlife can call this godly, ethical business.

And I ask that all Logos Now users ring the phones and post on forums your displeasure in what Logos is trying to do. Many have already posted on the Faithlife Connect Forum...and there was not one person who was not displeased..Hopefully Bob and the other decision makers in this will see the displeasure and reverse this; I guess we will see what Faithlife cares more about; people or money.

I paid for a year of 'Logos Now' in advance. You can't transfer me, it's a different product and not what I paid for.

Thankful for Bob Pritchett's => Announcement: Logos Now to continue at same price (with new name)

    Keep Smiling [:)]
