How can you import slides from Power Point into Proclaim
I would like to import some of my slides made in Power Point 2010 into Proclaim, but have not been able to figure out how to do it. Is it possible? What are the steps needed to do so?

Currently Proclaim does not import PowerPoint slides natively. The workaround is to export your PowerPoint slides as images and then import them into Proclaim as an image slideshow.
To export from PowerPoint:
1. Go to the design tab and click on "Page Setup" in the ribbon. Set your page size to 10.67" width and 8" height. This will ensure that the images from PowerPoint save at a resolution of 1024x768. If your projector needs a different resolution, then you will have to change the width and height accordingly.
2. Go to the "File" tab and choose "Save As." Name your file but then choose "JPEG" from the "Save as Type:" dropbox right below the field you name your file in.
3. You will then want to tell PowerPoint to save every slide as a separate image in the popup you see after hitting save.
Once your pictures are exported, just start uploading them (one at a time, for now unfortunately) into an image slideshow service item in Proclaim.
I hope that helps.

Will someone let us know when Proclaim fixes this problem so that Power Point and other resources can be imported natively?
We will probably take a look at it again then.

This worked for me Chris. Of course, any improvements like using PowerPoint slides natively or not having to upload each slide one at a time would help. I do appreciate your help.-Bud

This is the single most important thing that you guys should be working on. For the many of us in smaller to medium sized churches, having Powerpoint integration is a MUST. There's no way I can present this software as a viable alternative to Media Shout (which we currently use) without that functionality. Our Sr. Pastor does all his own slides in Powerpoint and the current process just will not work for him. I understand the thinking, but native support HAS to be included or we can't even consider Proclaim.

I was totally disappointed to find out we cannot use Powerpoint or Keynote in Proclaim. We use Easy Worship currently but were considering Proclaim but it is imperative that we are able to import powerpoint and/keynote presentations first. We will have to reconsider and try again later if Logos include the option to import powerpoint presentations.

I too am disappointed to find that I cannot natively import Powerpoint into Proclaim. That is a nonstarter. I was just beginning to play with prolcaim when I realized its severe limitation. When they have resolved that major limitation, I will consider Proclaim at that time.

How are you using PowerPoint with Media Shout? Driving it? Importing the slides as graphics?

Media Shout supports PowerPoint.

Media Shout supports power point quite well and that is very important feature... Without that capability we will never make the switch. Too many people including myself use power point to put together message notes and slide shows. Almost evey guest speaker brings a power point presentation. Power Point integration is a must have!!!!

This is rather cumbersome and very impractical. We just started to use Proclaim and not being able to import our own slides is hampering us from using during worship. For example this Sunday we have Ordination and Installation of Officers and we wanted to input pictures, but am unable to do so. Therefore we will do all our slides in ppt.
We want to place our church as bg for the welcome slide and are unable to do so.
Does anyone have an easier way to accomplish this?
Thanks

The workaround as described above (saving the ppt slides as images and then importing to Proclaim) is not that difficult or time consuming. However, any animations or slide transitions set up in Powerpoint will not transfer.

Wow, wow, wow
Can't believe that native Powerpoint support isn't supported in a release version of church presentation software.

My church began using MediaShout about a month ago as 30-day trial and one of the most impressive features is the ability to drop powerpoint slides in presentation with all of the animation intact. I'm a logos user and would love to choose Proclaim as our software of choice. However, in evaluating Proclaim the powerpoint import capability was the first feature I sought. I won't say not having it is a show stopper, but it does damper my enthusiasm a good bit.

Just for information and completeness, there is some discussion of PowerPoint integration here,
http://community.logos.com/forums/p/43712/326391.aspx#326391
In the above thread, Scott Alexander is asked for an estimate as to how long it might take to add this functionality. Scott estimates that PowerPoint integration should be availability in 'one to two months' time.
Obviously, I presume this is nothing more than an estimate and timescales may obviously slip (and so this should be considered with suitable caution). However, I thought people might be encouraged to know that development is advancing and, it seems, integration is not too far away.

Bob,
We want to echo the comments made in these posts. We use Easy Worship currently and are considering Proclaim but it is imperative that we are able to import powerpoint and/keynote presentations first. Will Logos include the option to import powerpoint presentations?

The first round of updates to add improved PowerPoint integration will be coming quite soon!
Additionally, the background improvements required to add support for PowerPoint will also greatly enhance usability in general.
We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
Thanks,

just converting to images is not true native support... i guess a better question is " how do i MIGRATE a presentation into Proclaim without rebuilding it?"

Christian, you can embed a PowerPoint presentation in a Proclaim presentation and Proclaim will transfer control to PowerPoint (natively) when navigating those items. I've tried a few things ... The easiest and best so far (for me) is:
1. In PowerPoint, Save As PNG (or PNG or JPEG) - Save As Filename - for Proclaim (to put all Pics in a separate folder)
2. Open File Explorer and Proclaim.
3. Drag all Pic Files into Proclaim under "Service" - Imports to Folder "Dropped Media".
4. Select Files & Drag out of Dropped Media Folder into "Service" Folder & Delete "Dropped Media" Folder (might be unnecessary).
5. File "Save & Snch". Depending on Picture File Size, this may take some time to Synch.
I'd appreciate any better information if & when it becomes available.
