Announcement: Logos Now to continue at same price (with new name)

I was waiting for someone to pick up on the "later this week" !!! :-) So again, it seems since I have the Full Feature Set in Logos 7 and will have that in Logos 8 when that comes around the corner, I'm not really getting a whole lot for the 130.00 plus Canadian dollars. Would you concur? Also considering I have all the books & more that I need. Plus, I got a note from Faithlife saying if I felt I did not need the FLC, they would give me a Coupon code toward the purchase of a base package, feature set, or library. One does wonder, can this Coupon be used towards the purchase of Logos 8?

If you have "all the books & more that I need" (I resemble that comment!), I recommend that you simply take the Connect Essentials--No Library. We get what we had in Logos Now plus two Mobile Ed courses each year, an additional free book each month, plus Faithlife TV. I bought the Logos Full Feature Set on some sale a few months back just in case I wanted or needed to drop Logos Now, and I may do the same with Logos 8 just as a bit of an insurance policy should I need to drop FLC. If you liked Logos Now, for the same price you will really like Connect Essentials--No Library, in my opinion.

If you subscribe to FaithLife Connect Essentials, you'll get the licenses to those books and they are yours to use as long as you are a subscriber. But, it's temporary. Once you stop the subscription, you lose those books that are a part of your subscription. Any books you bought and paid for you keep.
I would add one caveat to this. As per Bob's post, the books that are included with the subscription are likely to be swapped out periodically so they are actually yours to use until you unsubscribe or Faithlife swaps them out for other books. Here is Bob's explanation on this:
Bob Pritchett said:danwdoo said:Are these connect tiers like the base packages where the books are periodically switched out for new ones with new versions of Logos?
Yes, which is one of the reasons it's hard to dynamically price them... they will be changing as our contracts change, as our base package libraries change, etc. (Just as which movies Netflix offers is changing every month.) We believe this to be a benefit, and hope you'll generally see the value grow, not just change.
With that said, I don't expect the changes to be frequent, or massive. They may more often follow major changes in our base packages.

I presently am grandfathered into FLC (Essentials No Library). I never have nor do I need the Mobile Ed Courses / Faithlife V. But this is what's making me think I actually do not need FLC Essentials for the only thing I'm actually getting that remotely interests me is the new tools between the updates, e.g. between Logos 7 & 8 or between Logos 8 - Logos 9. What's your advice then?

That's hard to determine. I love access to the Mobile Ed Courses. While I'm not interested in getting certificates and such (I have enough formal education "credentials"), there are a lot of areas that I haven't studied or have forgotten and appreciate the lectures.
That said, I'm not really interested in the new tools between updates, which is why I had considered dropping Logos Now. Frankly, Logos 7 has more tools than I need for study.
So your question is a tough one. If LN was worth $99/year (US) to you, then Connect Essentials will be, too. You'll be getting no less than what you were getting, just more of what you may not want. [:)] If the new tools between updates are not real attractive, I'd let the subscription run out and buy the full feature sets with each major upgrade.
Of course, there really is so much we don't know. Faithlife intends to continue with the ownership model, but, financially, I'm not sure how long they can sustain that. Hopefully, they will do so for those of us who have plenty of books and FL can continue to grow their subscription side of the ledger with new customers.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm not sure how much the Coupon is worth towards Logos 8, so that means a call to Home Office. As you say, it can be a tough(er) call but it's up to me to see what I actually need and do not.

One thing to consider is I am not sure the features will update between versions, at least not with any regularity under Connect. Inbetween updates are not mentioned as a feature on the charts, and some of Bob's posts suggest this goal turned out to be a problem to maintain. I don't know if there has been any official word on this from Faithlife, but since this seems to be potentially your biggest deciding factor on a subscription, you might want to get a specific answer from Faithlife before you make your decision.

I’m confused; I was under the impression you had already used the coupon to buy the Logos 7 full feature set. I’m probably mixing you up with someone else.
It’s doubtful that Customer Service/Sales would tell you how much the Logos 8 full feature set would cost, even if they knew. Plus dynamic pricing muddies the waters.

Danwdoo, a call to Home Office is certainly the only way to clear this up. Yasmin, you are correct, I did use "a" Coupon to buy Logos 7 Full Feature Set.
But I also got a notice saying if I was not happy remaining with FLC, then I could call Home Office before the end of this month and they would provide a coupon code toward the purchase of a base package, feature set, or library.
Now whether that Coupon can be used towards Logos 8 is still up in the air and I won't know for sure till I decide to give them a call. And I agree, they're not going to inform me as to how much Logos 8 will cost, one reason being, they in all likelihood don't know themselves.

If you already used your coupon (whether $100 or $200) I doubt you'll be getting another one. Remember, Faithlife cancelled the coupons though some people (like yourself) had already used them before Bob's announcement Faithlife was creating a special plan for Logos Now subscribers. What their latest email is basically saying is if you do not like the plan they created, they will (re)issue the coupon to you. Of course, I take this to mean they will reissue it to those of us who had not used it yet.

And you could very well be correct. The notice I got though, was unlike the first one. That gave me a Code to use.
This is different in that it is saying if I do not like FLC, I can use this for the purchase of the base package, feature set etc.
But as said, I could be misinterpreting this altogether. What you say makes sense Yasmin.

Ok, I just called Home Office and they told me to delete that latest email. Apparently, it was in essence the same as I received before but in very different words. Here's what it said,
"As you probably heard, we recently announced some changes to the way we’re migrating Logos Now customers to the new subscription Faithlife Connect.
We wanted to let you know that we migrated your Logos Now subscription to Faithlife Connect Essentials (No Library). We created this new level of Faithlife Connect with Logos Now customers in mind. It includes all the Logos features, plus the additional Faithlife Connect benefits, all at the Logos Now annual rate ($99.99/yr).
No action is required on your part.
If after experiencing Faithlife Connect you decide it’s not for you, give us a call before March 31 and we’ll provide a coupon code toward the purchase of a base package, feature set, or library.
To view the current status of your subscription, visit this page. And you can get started with your Faithlife Connect benefits immediately." (End Quote)Now that I've passed myself as a total fool, I think I'll crawl under the nearest coffee table and tell myself I'm normal.

Confusion needed clearing up, Bootjack, and you went to the source and got it cleared up. That is wisdom in my opinion. Come out from under the coffee table and enjoy a good book. [:)]

I could always say "I didn't post what I just posted" but that obviously won't work. And the first book I grabbed was a colouring book, so I think I'll just take a leisurely stroll down memory lane instead! :-}

I had not canceled but I had stopped auto-renew because I was unsure if I wanted to continue Logos Now when my subscription was set to expire this coming August.

I haven't. Because of that, I sent an email to CS confirming I wanted to have that happen and asked them to set me back up again. They replied that it could/would happen but that it might be a while yet.Tim Nargi said:Have any previous Logos Now users gotten an email yet about the grandfathered in price?

Didn’t see in there.
So so you had canceled and got an email regarding getting back in at the grandfathered price? I’ve emailed CS last week and they said in a few weeks I might get an email. I don’t want to be a pest but I don’t want to miss out on this either.

You won’t miss out. Is your subscription active? Regardless, if I recall correctly Bob said above that those who had cancelled would be given an opportunity to resubscribe at the grandfathered Logos Now subscription rate.
The one thing that makes the Connect Essentials worth it to me is access to a Mobile Ed course each 180 days.

Yes I received an email to subscribe at the grandfathered rate.

If you were happy with the new offer and would prefer to keep the coupon code and the Faithlife Connect Starter subscription, or upgrade to Faithlife Connect Essentials, you can contact us and we'll take care of it.
The "offer" I had received was that I was being given a $100 coupon and my Logos Now subscription was being transitioned to Faithlife Connect and would be extended to 11/12/18. Per Bob's post, I contacted customer service to tell them I was happy with that offer and wished "to keep the coupon code and the Faithlife Connect Starter subscription." The customer service rep told me I could have the coupon code OR the subscription, but not both. She then emailed me Bob's post. After reading it (again) and verifying that Bob said we could keep both (he used the word "and"), I called customer service a second time. This time I was told I could keep the $100 code and have the subscription put back in place, but that the subscription would expire 4/10/18. Not only would she not honor the "offer" (to use Bob's word) of the subscription ending 11/12/18, but it looks like my subscription was actually shortened. I had originally subscribed to Logos Now on 5/30/17, and an expiration date of 4/10/18 is less than a year. Since I have already called customer service twice tonight, I figured I would post here and just see how my experience compares to anyone else's.

Matthew,
I am very sorry you had to call a couple times today to get this done. I reviewed your account and see the $100 coupon has been added and your Faithlife Connect Starter has a renewal date of 4/10/19. I apologize, I think this was still being updated on your account with your expiration date. Let me know if i can help with anything else.

For anyone who read my previous post from yesterday, I just want to follow up and publicly state that not only has Faithlife resolved the situation to my satisfaction, but that in addressing it they have gone above and beyond. My faith in them has been restored and I look forward to continuing to do business with them.

I think I would like to have a comparison of the different options. quite honestly, i am confused now.
i know my Now subscription has not changed but i would like to see what it has compared to the new options. I might be willing to change.

I'm confused to what shall I do. I was a Logos Cloud/Now user. I stopped auto-renewal because I was not sure what to expect in the new offering.
Is there a way to get the grandfathered discount? If so, how do I get it. Shall I start a new subscription and then a discount will be applied? Help.

I would contact customer services and see what they can do to help

I'm feeling frustrated with the lack of a clear message. I called a sales rep on 6/7 after reading this long forum discussion about all the changes, thinking that I had to make a decision by July 9th, when my Logos Now subscription was up, and that I had I missed every opportunity to make a decision, get the coupon, etc. The sales rep told me that I actually had until sometime in November and that I had a $200 coupon to put towards whatever I decide. So feeling that there was no rush, I've been mulling it over, and in the last week considering which course to order as part of my subscription. Then yesterday (7/9), I was charged $99.99 to renew Faithlife Connect Essentials (no library). So I called today to find out the story. The sales rep said he couldn't help, and so transferred me to customer service. After a long narration of what all had happened since February, I was told that what the rep told me on 6/7 had been RESCINDED. And there was nothing he could do. He transferred me to the original sales rep from 6/7. I had to leave a voicemail, and I sent an email to him too.
Did the extension to November really get rescinded and I was told wrong? Will I not be able to use the $200 gift to purchase Logos 7 if I choose? And if that is what I choose, do I loose my chance to get a course for 6 months because my first year subscription lapsed yesterday?
I'm feeling kinda bummed out.

I received a call from Don in Customer Service. I did receive bad info from a sales rep four weeks ago, but Don explained the situation well, and made things right for me. I appreciate the personal touch from him.

I just found all this out. I've been waiting to use the $200 dollar coupon since Feb 23 and now when I go to use it they say its no good. I feel like I got ripped off and frankly have had little use for the Connect program. I liked the older one but they tossed this new one at use and I figured I would try it. I am really big on my yes means yes, my no means no. I should have used it right away but nooo I had to trust and wait. Very disappointed. Very. Been with this software since the Libronix days. Oh well. God bless them in Jesus name. Amen

my understanding was that if you keep the $100 program you do NOT get to use the $200 coupon is that correct? I ignored my coupon email when i upgraded to L8 since i figured it was not valid..
did I miss something?

No, you are correct. Here's a little timeline of what happened for previous Logos Now customers:
- Late Feb, 2018: We moved Logos Now subscribers to Faithlife Connect Starter, and offered a coupon to offset the features that were missing.
- A few days later: After customer feedback, we moved subscribers to Faithlife Connect Essentials instead and revoked the coupons because all of the features were included. There was a window of time immediately after when users could request to stay on Starter and keep the coupon. For users that took that action back in March, the coupon is still valid.
- Logos 8: If you kept your Connect Essentials subscription, you do not have the $200 coupon. However, you have had full use of all features in the previous months, and get an extra 5% discount on Logos 8 (if you were an active subscriber before we released Logos 8.)
Hope that helps!

thanks for spelling this out..

Celeste,
With all due respect, your timeline doesn't, in my opinion, paint a correct picture of what went on.
- Late Feb., 2018, I received an email stating that Logos Now subscribers were being moved to a new subscription program called Faithlife Connect. Part of the email reads, "We've transitioned Logos Now customers to the new program, which means you'll get full access to both Faithlife Connect Starter and Logos Now.... As a special thanks for being a Logos Now customer, we're giving you a $200 coupon code toward the purchase of any feature set, base package, or library.... You can even use it on Logos 8 when we release it."
- Note how nothing in the original email mentions anything about the "new program" containing less features for the same annual subscription price. I can cut and paste the entire email for anyone to read in its entirety, if need be.
- A subsequent email added more info and informed customers that for the same subscription cost, we would be receiving less features in the Faithlife Connect Starter plan.
- Apparently, a number of customers noticed the change in the reduction of features from Logos Now to Faithlife Connect Starter, prompting Logos to send out another email stating that, due to the negative responses, they would be offering the full feature set (dubbed Faithlife Connect Essentials) for the same price as we had been spending on our Logos Now subscription. This subsequent email implied that the $200 coupon was not, as originally stated "for being a Logos Now customer," but as a way of easing the additional costs of having to "upgrade" to Faithlife Connect Essentials in order to retain the full feature set.
- Apparently after more disgruntled customers complained, Faithlife decided to provide the Essentials version for the same cost as the original Logos Now subscription price, but at the expense of revoking the $200 coupon.
I learned all of this the other day when I went to upgrade to Logos 8 Platinum and found that the coupon code I had been retaining all this time had been revoked. I then had to dig through my emails to piece the above together. Let's just say, I'm not a happy customer. I am also a bit disappointed that Faithlife's original email that mentioned the $200 coupon made absolutely no reference to the subsequent assertions that it was offered to cover the added costs of Faithlife Connect Essentials. As stated above, the original email clearly stated the coupon was "a special thanks for being a Logos Now customer."

As a fellow-customer, I understand your frustration with this issue. The end of Logos Now was certainly not Faithlife's finest hour.
On the plus side:
- You've been enjoying the benefits of Logos 7 features from February until now.
- You've already got the L8 features with Faithlife Connect Essentials, which will save you well over $100 on Logos 8 Platinum, and possibly as much as $200 or more. To check how much you'll save, look at the price of the full feature set.
- You'll also save an additional 5% on Logos 8 Platinum because you're a connect member. I don't know what you're upgrade price to Platinum is, but your saving could be $50 or so.
- If you do buy Platinum, you'll get 2% credit back next year. Perhaps another $20?
So, if you add all that up, you'll find that the price you're being asked to pay for Platinum could be LESS than the price you would have paid if you'd have accepted the $200 voucher back in February.
