Targumim vs. Peshitta
I have a question. Please help me to find an answer. In the Lexicon of Targumim there is written:
"כיף noun כיפא
1 Palestinian,Syr,JBA rock
2 Syr hail

"Syr" (for Syriac) pertains to Peshitta? Or there were other Syriac Targumim?
I will appreciate the help in finding the answer to my question.

The subtitle of the Targum Lexicon is: A lexicon to the Aramaic versions of the Hebrew scriptures from the files of the Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon Project (CAL). I assume "Syr" pertains to all Syriac texts (including coins, incantations bowls, etc.) that are covered by the CAL project.

Thank you for this information. I didn't know this website. I only used the "Targum Lexicon" that I have in Logos. I looked then for more information in the software itself. In the info to this resource there is written: "The lexicon covers the Aramaic words found in the Targums, ancient translations of the Hebrew scriptures". So, it does not answer to my question. I wrote an email to Hebrew Union College, and I just received this answer from them:
The Peshitta is the Syriac bible. Syriac is its own dialect of Aramaic. The list you refer to is of Jewish Aramaic, which is quite a different thing. "Targum" refers to a type of Jewish Aramaic literature that is more than just a translation. The Peshitta is a translation into Syriac, not a targum.

Song of Songs (targum) has quite a bit of the syriac dialect.
It’d bw nice if the dialect were tagged. Or the lexicon showed the verses.
