I am having difficulty setting up a Collection for just Bible Dictionaries.
If I enter "Bible Dictionary" I get lexicons, encyclopedias, word study books, Greek-English and Hebrew-English dictionaries. How do I limit the collection to just Bible Dictionaries like NBD, Harpers, Eastons etc?
I just did it the simple way. I manually tagged the desired dictionaries and encyclopedias and than it is a piece of cake to make a collection out of it. You don't even have to, searching allows you to set a range of resources according to tags also.

I haven't ventured into tagging yet!
I presume that each resource will have to be tagged separately?
At first I was thinking tagging was the way to go to build collections. However after thinking about it placing too much dependance on tagging dimenishes the dynamic nature of collection forming...when I add a resource to my library I have to tag it for it to be included in the appropriate collection. One good way of utilizing tagging with collection building is to enclose your entire collection syntace in perenthesis once you are done and adding OR mytag:xxx.

Actually I was thankful for your challenge because it helped me develop my strategy for collection creation. Here's what I ended up with:
(type:dictionary AND subject:Bible) ANDNOT (title:semantic OR title:lexicon OR subject:greek OR subject:lan)
First I started with something that created a list with just about everything I wanted in the collection, regardless of what was extra, eonclosed on perenthesis, thus:
(type:dictionary AND subject:Bible)
Then I added ANDNOT, evaluated what was extra an started getting rid of them by adding a tag at a time in perenthesis joined by OR. Keep adding to it until your list is very close. thus
(title:semantic OR title:lexicon OR subject:greek OR subject:lan)
Once you add an item to your list there's a high probability that it will be exluded if its a lexicon.

Great job Philip. I added the 2 titles and now it looks I have it right:
(type:dictionary
AND subject:Bible) ANDNOT (title:semantic OR title:lexicon OR
subject:greek OR subject:lan OR title:expository OR title:Wordbook)
By the way, is "subject:lan" as it should be? Is lan for language? Where do we find the help for the syntax to be used here?

That can be abbreviated:
type:dictionary subject:Bible ANDNOT (title:(semantic, lexicon, expository, Wordbook), subject:(greek,lang))
ANDNOT is the only operator that needs parentheses. Space= AND and comma = OR
When you look at the Subject of TVM it has "Bible--languages, style.". You can use any part, whether "style" "languages" "lan" or "lang" to exclude/include it!
I would have to exclude the Dictionary of the Vulgate New Testament by adding "subject:latin", thus:
type:dictionary subject:Bible ANDNOT (title:(semantic, lexicon, expository, Wordbook), subject:(greek, latin, lang))

Thank you Dave. I appreciate it. I want it in a perfect way. I still needed to put Anchor to plus section, it is not recognized as a dictionary. Strange.
Bohuslav
how does subject:bible AND title:dict come out for you?
Good try Phil
It cuts out the lexicons but I still have the Word Studies and some biblical language dictionaries, but at least I can add them to the "- minus thes resources" section unless you can think of a way of restricting them also.
I shall now try the same method for Bible encyclopedias
Thanks[Y]
I've just added "-title:languages"
HEY that works
Isn't this fun!![<:o)]
