Controlling song lyrics (and variations)

Hi. I find the "my song" stuff very hard to use/control. I would like to be able to control arrangements rather than simply have latest edit stored somewhere in the system. There are two negatives here: (1) I can't actually save variations of a song (e.g. preferred variations at particular services) and (2) if a music leader at service makes an edit on the day the "my song" version is changed which means I've lost the baseline.

Here are the work arounds I am exploring and just want to check implications or if there are better ways to manage songs:

(1) link with elvanto. This is great because I can use elvanto's ability to manage arrangements (using elvanto to manage songs). However this is not a sync. So it works once ("import") but if there are any changes to songs from there... I can't add them from elvanto without creating a new presentation from import. This is bad. There's no "add song from elvanto" option which means I can't reasonably use elvanto to manage songs.

(2). import from CCLI. I haven't toyed with this yet. Can this be used to manage preferred variations?

(3) re use slides. I was thinking of creating a service called "master song lyrics" then putting all songs in this. then I can add songs from this. However when I would search "Nothing but the blood of Jesus" I can filter songs but that's all... eventually the number of "Nothing but the blood of Jesus" could be substantial and I have to manually find "master song lyrics" service.

Surely this is a super common concern. How are people managing it? I'm pretty new to proclaim. Am I missing something  obvious?

The easiest way to manage it is to change the title of the song when you edit it. That way "My song" would contain both variations.

The problem as I experience it is.

I get two versions of a song e.g.

    All heaven declares (with bridge)

    All heaven declares (sans bridge)

Neither of these I want to show with the setting 'Show title on title screen' so I edit the title from say 'All heaven declares (sans bridge)' to 'All heaven declares' but now I don't have All heaven declares (sans bridge)' in my reuse items list.

I do seem to have a plethora of things heaven is declaring in my list though - and it is hard to guess what the difference is without loading each individually and checking.

    :-(

I change the title like Mike does, however we do NOT use the "Show Title" option, therefore have free rein over what shows in the reuse list. In some cases I use shorthand to indicate versions, e.g "(c,b,c)Our God" indicating Chorus, bridge, chorus. No shorthand indicates the "usual" version.

We stopped using "Show Title" partly to allow us to do this.

We have plans to support a song arrangement experience, similar to what you're accustomed to in tools like Planning Center and Elvanto. This will be part of furthering our integration with https://music.faithlife.com/

    Ok this works ok.

Add "--" to create blank slide, add text box to first slide only and then size.

EXCEPT... that text box doesn't come through when using "my songs". Hmm.

Alternative is to put title in lyrics but then it remains small font.

Read online: "Note: emphasis text is not currently supported for song service items, but is planned to be released in a future update."

    Any time frame on this?

Also, it would make sense for "import item" to be able select through checkbox actual items rather than simply import all items from elvanto etc. Thx

    Hey Mike,

We don't have a timeframe on this, but it is on the road map for future updates.

Thanks for the feedback as well regarding the import from Elvanto.

The work around right now would be to import and then delete the ones you don't want.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.
