Lectionary - How to change preferred lectionary???

I can put my preferred lectionary on the shortcut bar and get it to open to the spot I last used it.  That means I can fairly easily use my lectionary.

What I cannot figure out, please, is how - on the Home Page - to replace the "Catholic" lectionary (Roman Catholic?) with my preferred lectionary.

Is that possible with Beta 1???

Thanks

I was tryin to figure out how to do this as well. I thought if I prioritize them in my library it might work, but alas, no help.

In the help pages it says that the lectionary is selected according to rank. So I one of the "Revised Common Lectionary" and revisited the home page - no change!

However, when I turned off L4 and restarted it - lo and behold - the lectionary had changed [I]

The Catholic Lectionary was presumably selected when none were ranked because it was at the top of the alphabetical list.

This didn't work for me; I rated the RCL at 5 stars and restarted V4 but no joy....

Edited: didn't read the above post re prioritising....

It worked for me by adding stars. I'm guessing you need to wait for the indexing of tags/ratings to complete before restarting

I rated it as one star and had to restart the program to get the changes. Presumably that hasn't worked for you either.

According to the "About Logos" in the help F1 drop down menu, I am using Beta 1 (4.0.2.8283) and on an XP machine . . . if that is any help

And what if you dont want a lectionary at all?  Anyone know how to eliminate it completely?

I tried to prioritize it to make it appear on the home page but that didn't work. When I used the star system and gave it five stars it appeared. That raises the question on how the system recognizes priority. rating vs. priority

    Kind of confusing.

It works. I tried to do it by prioritizing the Lectionary, but it works by rating. Good job Robert.

I think prioritizing works only to change the order of the offered resources, mainly in the right click of the mouse on any word. It might also influence the order of ranked list in searches, but I am not sure about that one.

Thanks for figuring it out.  I also had tried to prioritize a Lectionary and it didn't work.

Stupid Question.  How do you rate a resource?  The Help file didn't help and I had already tried clicking both with Right and Left buttons from My Library.

in the library select (not click) the book you want to rate. On the right you will see info for that book and a set of stars. Click the stars to rate the book. You can not click on the stars in the details pane, only in the information pane to the right.

    Dale,

In My Library, open the information pane for the lectionary and click how many stars you want to give it.

This is not currently possible in Beta 1. It's a known issue that will be fixed in a later build.

  • I finally got it moved to the "prioritized" list, but I don't find anyway to give it a star rating -- "Help" says theres a pencil icon, but I don't find one for the UMC's RCL. Where's the pencil icon? What am I missing?

on the right side of Damian's graphic you seethe book information with the stars highlighted. That is where you rate it. Give it more stars than any other lectionary, close logos 4, restart, and it will say preparing library (but it did not take "very" long at all for me). When it restarts it will be on your homepage as your preferred lectionary.

Moving a lectionary to the prioritized list does nothing, at least with the current beta.  However, as the above people have mentioned, it seems to grab the highest RATED lectionary.  I followed the above directions to select the resource and hit the info button where I was able to rate the RCL as a 3.  When I restarted Logos 4, it displayed the RCL instead of the Roman Catholic Lectionary for the United States.  I assume can do this to other Lectionaries as well.

I really haven't found the way to rate books with the various star ratings to be that practical, especially on the small screen I was using.  In addition, the difference between Rating (which works here) and Priorities resources does not exactly seem clear to this beta tester.

Peace and Joy to you, Phil!           *smile*

Here's some strange behaviour for you.  Very strange, indeed.  After reading some of these replies to my post, I put 5 stars on the Lutheran Service Book 3-year Lectionary.  (had that lectionary on the shortcut bar as well)  ...........    decided to close and re-open Logos 4     ..  ..

    .........did so

...........rejoiced when I saw The LSB 3-year lectionary replacing the Catholic lectionary.      ........

by mistake, opened it from shortcut bar instead of going to click it on the Homepage ........

.......it did NOT god to current date (for tomorrow - series B - Pentecost 13   ------   no problem, I think, I'll just head down there ---   which I did ....

Cannot believe the following:    Psalm 16 ended with v. 11 rather than v. 9 !!!   (I checked Lectionary in Logos 3 to be sure!)    AND right after Psalm 116 - with 11 verses & not ESV translation - was a long section from Barclay Daily Study Bible Series --    sample:

            9

in the land of the living.
            10

              "I am greatly afflicted";
            11

"Men are all a vain hope."
I said in my consternation,I kept my faith, even when I said,I walk before the Lord

Someone has suggested that this psalm begins like a love letter: "Dear God, I love you; for you…inclined your ear to me. You did so because you heard my voice and my supplication." This is not so impossible, for all that the Hebrew actually says is, "I love, for Yahweh hears…"

The poem is in several strophes or paragraphs, and is carefully constructed by someone who has been either very ill physically, or has suffered a nervous breakdown. In either case he or she is immensely grateful for recovery. But this psalm can be ours too, even if we have not been ill. For we all live on "Death Row", so to speak, we all wait for the morning of execution. We might even focus our general and inevitable expectation of death on the fear that somewhere is a jittery underling who at this moment is about to press that fatal button on the nuclear monstrosity we all loathe and dread. In a word, no matter how we expound this psalm, it emphasizes that there is no hope in man (verse 11). Notice that death (Sheol) is actually shown to be aggressive. It has sent out its octopus-like tentacles, the poet implies, to pull me under. No wonder he "found" (AV) distress and anguish."

I plan to shut Logos 4 down again in a few minutes, and try the Lectionary (now LSB 3-year) at the top right of the Home Page to see what happens...    *smile*

I have both promoted pretty high .......       (sorry that my "screen grab" didn't work - will have to practice that)

You might want to make sure that you have an English Bible prioritized higher than your commentaries.  I think that will give you the expected results.  Logos 4 seems to look up the bible reference from the Lectionary based on your priority list.  So, if it is an English Bible first, it gives you the reading in English.  If it is a Greek Bible, it gives it to you in Greek.  If it is a Commentary first, it gives you the commentary, etc.

    HI Mel,

I think it was just because your Barclay worked as your prioritized Bible. Funny but true. I can see my Czech Bible in the lectionary. It just gets your prioritized Bible (or commentary, if it is put above Bible).

You're lucky.  Since I uninstalled my downloaded edition and reinstalled from the CD I haven't had a lectionary of any type.
