Delay when changing slides - HDMI

I have an iMac (brand new last December 2017) - Running Proclaim version 2.9.0.0061. There is a slight delay (sometimes 1/2 a second) when changing the slides. I see the change take place on my preview monitor, but then it lags ever so slightly when changing on the projector. For comparison, I installed ProPresenter's latest update (demo) and tried it. The change was instantaneous. Is there a setting somewhere in Proclaim that controls this or is there something I can do to fix this? I know it's splitting hairs over a 1/2 a second, but was really just curious as to why this was happening.

EDIT: This only happens with HDMI. When I connect via VGA this doesn't happen. But, VGA does NOT give as clear or bright a picture as with HDMI so I don't want to go back and use VGA.

Thanks so much!

    Hello Josh,

Do you have a transition time set?  You can set transition times per slide, but also presentation wide.  With your presentation open, go to Settings > Presentation and see if a transition is set there.  Also, note that this setting located here is tied per presentation, so you'll want to double-check the other ones too.

Yes, the global transition is set to "Fade" at a .5sec interval. All individual transitions are not set at all.

Were you all able to figure any thing out regarding this? Like I said, it's not a major issue, just a minor annoyance, mostly.

I'm sorry!  Did switching the Fade to No Transition from that global setting have any impact?

Justin, here's a little more about the issue. I have a MacBook Pro laptop as well. I tried this evening on the laptop and when I changed the slides (with no external monitor) the delay was still there. I could turn off the fade transition and it still had a half a second or so before the slide would change. However, if I swiped back to the control screen on my laptop, the change in slides was instantaneous on the preview/control screen. Swipe back to the presentation and the delay was back. Could this have something to do with the way the Mac handles spaces and full-screen apps? Just a thought. It was still there with the VGA display as well, just not as prominent, or I didn't notice it as much. I haven't checked the sanctuary computer, but I suspect it will be the same.

thanks for the info Josh. I do believe I have seen this before as well. I’m gonna take a look at the code this next week and see if I can see what’s up.

    Hey, Josh,

Just wanted to update you here. I took a look at the code and made many changes meant to improve the performance of the slide output on Mac!

In my testing it is much faster! And especially noticeable when you have 'No transition' selected. It is available in the new update we shipped yesterday, 2.9...102

Could you try it out and let me know if it fixed your issue? Thanks!

Jordan, It seems on my laptop that things have improved greatly! Thanks so much! I'm really glad to hear you all made these changes. I will let you know if I run into any problems with the sanctuary computer. Thanks again!

I'm having similar issues with the Windows version. While "off air", slides advance immediately. While "on air", there is an approximately 0.5 second delay before the transition begins. This is consistent whether we are using a fade or no transition at all. Hardware acceleration is on (even worse when off). This is happening on multiple Windows 10 computers. If I turn off the confidence monitor and just output the slides, the problem goes away and slides advance instantly. Is this perhaps a video card issue? I'm using an Nvidia NVS 510 with 2GB.

    David,

You are commenting on a thread from 2018. Since this seems to be a new issue, I suggest creating a new thread in the Faithlife Proclaim forum.

I discovered a glitch today. I'm not sure if it was from windows users not knowing anything about a mac or if it was glitch from propresenter7. but I realized that the propresenter iconn in the dock was launching the app incorrectly. goto your downloads and documents folder and see if you have a Propresenter.app icon there. if you do close propresenter wait 10sec and relaunch it from that icon. tell it to move it to the apps folder(i didnt try it the other way) if it works without a delay delete the icon in the doc and drag the new one to it...................tell it to never ask again and click move to apps folder. walla 3 weeks of troubleshooting solved.

OKay I was wrong. clicking move to apps folder didnt work. works fine till you close the app and attempt to open it the next time. then it is back to the delay. you have to select the do not move option

Today I noticed an issue with the propresenter upgrade from PP6 to PP7. Im on an I7 Imac pro 2 maybe 3 years old. I NDI to an Intel Puck(same age) and a X32compact feeding it audio Allowing the Vmix stream out to Restream. Now several things are unknown to me. the installation of PP6 and PP7 were not completed in my presence. So i have picked up where others failed. So starting my 3rd week. I have found a glitch with the PP7 installer or a mess in the install from pc users using a Mac. anyway thats for RenewedVision to figure out. I noticed as I was preparing to uninstall the app and reinstall it. In the download folder there is an icon named Propresenter.app. so I attempted a final test before reinstalling and opened it. well it ran perfect no delay in the slides or motion backgrounds or live recorded video clips. Noticed right away it took longer to open the Propresenter app. But instantly things were moving like lightning compared to the 3 second delay version I was opening from the dock. So I removed the PP7 icon from the dock and went to the downloads folder and drug the Propresenter.app icon to the dock and while opening. It is needed to select do not move or if you select move to apps folder it will only work the one time. the next time you open the app it will be right back to the delay. So select do not move and after you have tested it well. you can select the do not show again box. seems to be all i needed to do. I'm not sure how it got that way. But I found a workaround after 2 weeks of searching a hopeless internet and troubleshooting it myself. It is now working perfect for me. Good luck hope this works for others too. I suspect a proper install would have fixed it but maybe it is an issue on RenewedVision's end...Shrugs!
