Thank you, Graham. I was quite hopeful for a moment as I wasn't aware of that option. But when I turned Scroll View off and tried the two-finger scrolling, I found it very jumpy and hard to control the extent of the scroll--not at all smooth like it is when Scroll View is turned on.

Actually, on the Android app for well over a year the app worked exactly as Rick is asking. You could scroll with one finger on the scroll-view, exactly as today, but if you tapped on the right or left side, it would advance (or go back) one page, extremely quickly as well. It was fantastic, and I used it exactly as Rick is hoping to.

Unfortunately (in my opinion) this feature was eventually removed by Faithlife. The iOS app never had this feature.

After submitting my response to Graham above I realized I actually misspoke when I said I wasn't aware of the two-finger option. Trying it actually jogged my memory and I recalled I "had" known about it in the past and tried it, but just as now, I found the two-finger scrolling response/results so unusable that I quit using it. But as Fr Devin noted, there was a time when both smooth scrolling and page/screen changing did work and they worked well.

Faithlife, did something change in either the Android OS or the Bible app itself that has made it impossible (or just too difficult) to address this issue? [:^)]

On my iPad the two finger scroll is no worse than the iPhone even with two columns on the page.

Hi Mike! Glad you find it usable on your iDevices. I've used two Kindle Fire devices (a few generations apart) and have had the same issue with both. So while I suppose it's possible it's an issue with Kindle devices in general, I don't think it's necessarily my "copies" of the devices.

That's why I'd like to hear something from Faithlife:

To better understand exactly what the issue is regarding the jerky two-fingered scrolling on the Kindles when in Scroll View.
To better understand if there's a reason Faithlife can't implement a tap feature for page/screen turns while in Scroll View.

FAITHLIFE … would you please comment regarding the jumpy, difficult-to-control two-finger scrolling when "not" in Scroll-View? I.e. I've had (still have) the issue on two Fire devices--an 8.9" purchased in 2014 and an 8" purchased this year. When in Scroll-View, both one-finger and two-finger scrolling are smooth as silk. But when Scroll-View is not checked, the two-finger scrolling is so jumpy and difficult to control as to not be usable.

Is this only an issue on Kindle Fire devices? On other Android devices, is two-finger scrolling smooth when not in Scroll-View?

One of the reasons for doing so is that the pages view supports columns and footnotes, neither of which work effectively with infinite, smooth scrolling. So the two-finger scroll is not so much a scroll as an ‘advance the page by one line’. It’s ‘jerky’ by design.

That doesn’t explain why you can’t page-turn in scrolling view. That’s a separate issue that I don’t know the answer to.

There are too many double negatives in that question... I think I understand what you are asking.

When in scroll mode, it scrolls at a pixel a time (buttery smooth).
When in page mode, it two finger scrolls one line at a time (not as "smooth," but still in control).

That does not describe what I see. Out of curiosity... you dont have two resources showing at once, with a link set, do you? I have seen that behavior under those conditions.

I am essentially an "iOS only" user, although I have had $35 Kindle Fires before. My experience with Kindle Fire devices was less than ideal... I can't tell you if it is related to those devices OR Android in general... However, it would be important to know which specific device you are using.

I don't experience this on iOS unless I have inline footnotes turned on. As footnotes appear or disappear from the screen, the text can jump about a bit. I don't think that's avoidable. Speed has never been an issue for me on my Kindle Fire devices because all I use them for is reading my Logos resources, highlighting, and adding occasional notes. In fact, I often only have one tab open, and very rarely do I have occasion to have more than two tabs open. I always use my laptop when doing any kind of a study.

I thought maybe it was a documentation glitch so I tried installing it anyway, but it wouldn't install. Really? It won't install on either an old device OR a new one? Why provide a link for it on the Faithlife Ebooks web site? [:S][:S][:S] Very frustrating.

It's certainly no fault of yours that it wouldn't install, Dave. I apologize if my post gave the impression I was suggesting that. It's a Faithlife issue all the way.

The truth is I'm glad you mentioned Vyrso because I never even think about that app seeing as how the Faithlife ebooks can be read in both Logos and the Bible app. The fact is, even though the Faithlife Ebook app wouldn't install on the Kindle Fires (contrary to Faithlife's web site), it installed fine on my Android phone, so being able to try both it and the Bible app on my phone and having the same scrolling problem there with both apps, just confirmed for me that the two-finger scrolling problem is an issue with the apps, not a problem with my Kindle devices.

That's fantastic news, Daniel. Thank you. Highlighting across multiple pages while in paging mode is something I have often wanted to do, and it is in fact a better solution than two-finger scrolling (as multiple page highlighting allows you to highlight more than one whole page if needed). I often use highlighting across multiple pages in Kindle, and have been very happy with the experience.

You mentioned that you like other apps that allow you to page while in a scrolling view. Which apps do you think do a good job of that?

Thanks for considering this possibility. One app that I have used that does a great job with this is Moon+ Reader, one of the most popular Android reading apps (10 million+ installs). It works this way by default.

Well, it was "discoverable" on v5 mobile apps (probably earlier) and useful for fine adjusting position e.g. to start of a chapter, pericope, etc. Degrading it in v6 has brought forth this response.

Yes! I use it every time I'm reading on my iPad. It's one thing that make the app better as a reader app than the Kindle app (and there aren't many such things).
