Is it possible for me to create a reverse interlinear through PBB? If not, then it is my suggestion here.
Hi Kolen,
I don't have the L3 PBB & can't comment on its capability to add the functionality of an RI, but none of the existing 600+ PBBs are RIs, so...
However, are you aware of the many RI's already available in L3 & L4?
The reverse interlinear I want to create is in Chinese. And I don't think that Logos will do it (not even the Strong's number). So, if they don't do it, why don't I do it and benefit all the Chinese? (Of course it will take tremendous amount of time, say, 5 years?)
But though I have a burden to do it, I need the support from Logos. If Logos doesn't offer such function, then I cannot even give a try.
We don't have the specifications for PBB's in L4. But I suspect that you can make a useful version. I's wait until the PBB compiler for L4 is available then ask the question again.
Coming back to the original question, does anyone know whether the PBB in L4 allows for the creation and tagging of (reverse) interlinear bible?
No.
Hopefully not as that would be blasphemy.
Thomas ... you have essentially two questions: (1) a reverse interlinear which displays alternating languages, lined up in a double-line table fashion and (2) 'tagging' which I assume you mean being able to jump to a lexicon or glossary for a definition.
If you've a mind and can program, conceptually #1 is not difficult in theory. Write a small script to write out HTML as a 2-line table without lines displayed, language-1 on top and language-2 on the bottom for each line of text (adding morphs, etc for more lines). Add verse tagging etc as needed. Then import the whole thing into Word and copy into PB (which apparently accepts tables; just not making tables).
#2 is a little more involved since you'd have to match up the referencing carefully on the tags. Again it'd have to be done with a script.
The above would not be as nice as the normal Logos interlinear, but it would be even in functionality with some of my paper interlinears (eg English/Navajo).
But frankly I'd be hesitant to do too much with PBs since Logos4 can walk away from them very quickly as they did with L3.
I have several scripts that write out HTML for importing into Word and then PB. Works nicely and once written easy to make more.
We don't have the specifications for PBB's in L4.
So, about 7 years have passed.Logos 7 is working today.
What is the situation today? Do you have the specification for PBB's in L7?

你好,
你的問題解決了嗎?
Has your question been solved?
You can not create PBB reverse interlinears, but is this the kind of thing you are looking for in a specification? https://wiki.logos.com/Personal_Books

Unfortunately, no. I remember I emailed Logos and the CEO replied me that reverse interlinear feature in PBB would soon to be within that year. But I waited for years and that hasn't come yet and I gave up. From one of the recent reply above it seems there's a way to do it now?
And to me there's no point for me in doing it now since there's an official reserve interlinear Chinese Bible available in Logos released recently. It will be interesting to be able to DIY for various reasons though (for me, I knew a brother who worked on something related for decades and I have his database so I was interested to convert his database to a PBB.)
