How to ask for help
These forums are full of people who are willing to help with any question or problem you might have with Logos. Some are Logos staff, most are Logos users who volunteer their time.
How to get an answer — without even asking!
Before you ask for help:
- Please check this Wiki to see if your question has already been answered.
- Search the forum to see if your question has already been answered. Unfortunately, the “Search this site” box doesn’t work too well, so you’ll need to use Google. Search for site:community.logos.com searchterms, or just click this link then add your search terms at the end of the search box.
If you can’t find the answer to your question, go ahead and ask, by creating a new thread.
How to ask a great question
If your question is a “How do I....?” question, please let us know clearly what you’re trying to do, and perhaps give us an example.
If your question is about something going wrong (e.g. a crash, an error message, Logos being very slow, or search results are wrong, etc.), then we will need to see your logs before we can help. Logos has an optional feature whereby it records everything that happens in a log file. That allows us to see exactly what is causing the problem. It also helps if we know a little bit about your computer (particularly your Operating System and how much RAM (memory) your computer has).
Make sure you have a clearly worded subject. “Logos sucks!” is a bad subject, and will likely get you lots of replies telling you that Logos doesn’t suck. “Logos crashes every time I open it” is a good subject, and will get you replies helping you to solve the problem.

- Ask a question about Logos on a PC: Logos 5, Logos 4 or Logos 3.
- Ask a question about Logos on a Mac: Logos 5 or Logos 4.
- Ask a question about Logos on an iPhone/iPad or Android device.
- Ask a question about biblia.com (accessing your Logos resources on the internet).
- Add a suggestion about a change, addition, or new resource (Mac or PC)
Finally, be nice to us! Computers can be frustrating, but that’s almost certainly not the fault of the person who will be trying to help you. Please and thankyou’s go a long way.

My only suggestion is to in some way emphasize, "create a new thread" Don't just post a new issue to an old one, the same helpful people will follow you over there.

Because it is such a common problem, I would suggest that this read:
There are also forums for Mac version 1, iPhone, web and other..." Because there are two forums for the Mac, we frequently get the wrong posts in the wrong forum.

I've made those changes you suggested. As for time… well I figured anything that means I no longer have to write "Please turn logging on" again (particularly if it was followed by "Where are my log files", and "How do I upload my log files") has got to be worth 10 minutes of anyone's time!

Well, it's easy to just link to this page in 256 characters - the hard thing is doing that whilst not losing your existing signature. If you use the short URL I posted, instead of the normal URL you should be fine.

Ok boys and girls, Mark won't share but I will:
Click on edit in the upper right hand corner, choose site option. Once there, click on the html on the menu bar of your signature box and paste the following line in:
<a href="http://bit.ly/4ZTDo0">How to ask for help</a>
save it, and they fix any havoc you may have caused in the normal signature box, save the whole thing and off you go.

Hi,
I am trying to print a custom Bible Reading Plan in Logos 4 but I cannot. Is there anyone can help me out? I know, I can do it by exporting to Outlook but what if I don't want to take that route.

The printing capability is not in place yet. Outlook or a screen capture are your only choices.

Terry - I attempted to do this and you can see the result at the bottom here. Where did I go wrong? I'd like to understand a few more of these tips and tricks. Appreciate your forum participation and willingness to help.

When you paste in the code, look just above in the edit box and you'll see "HTML" Click that HTML link and then paste in the code and hit update.
That will fix it.

I just realized that the reason I only saw this very useful post now, and not half a year ago when I was new and could have needed it, is that it's only posted in the PC forum. [:(]
Mark, if you see this, do you think you could repost this in the Mac and General forums as well, and convince Logos to make the threads sticky there too? It might help some other newbies, plus it might save you and others at least a few "please post your logs" and "this has already been answered at ...".
Note: the "How to turn Logging on" link isn't needed in Mac. And maybe the [relatively] new Website forum should be added to the forum list?

just recently upgraded my Logos Scholar's Library Series X Software to Logos
4. I spent 4 hours trying to find the right forum that would help me
Import my Sermon Files and PDF's. So, I guess I have 2 questions.1.
Is it possible to import sermon notes and Personal PDF's into Logos 4.2.
Is there a forum, video or tutorial that shows you how to step by step import

Please help me I am stuck. I re-downloaded logos 4 and it downloaded all of my books but it did not finish downloading my front cover. I only have pages 1-3 instead of pages 1-7 on the home page. what do I need to do?

I'm a bit of a search guru. Searching the forums using the forum search box is usually not very fruitful. Google search gives you more power. Just add site:community.logos.com to your Google search criteria and it will search these forums for what you're looking for. You can use Boolean logic, such as AND and OR (and is presumed when combining search terms, OR is abbreviated with the vertical bar | ) and parentheses to group terms. You can use the intitle: tag (which ensures that what follows it -- no space after the colon and you can use quotation marks around a phrase -- is found in the subject line of the thread). You can limit the search to a particular forum such as this one by including text from the "breadcrumb" line (e.g., "Home > Logos 4 Windows") as one of the search terms.

Purchase the item and wait about 5-10 minutes, then shutdown and restart Logos 4. This should initialize downloading, then it will need to index after the download, then it will be a complete part of your library. You may also want to check out the area on the Wiki on installation and indexing:

Logos offers => International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (ISBE) (1979–1995) (4 vols.) for purchase, which is included in => Logos Bible Software 4: Portfolio Edition and => Essential Reference Bundle
Logos also offers an older version => International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, 1915 Edition

I have tried hard to understand and use these Greek software but the helps are inadequate.

Welcome to the forums, and to Logos Bible Software! I can understand your frustration. The tools you have listed are some of the more advanced tools, so there are not any free video tutorials that I know of, but John Fallahee has some videos that really helped me understand how to use them. They cost $4.99 each, but each provide over an hour of training. There should be a demo portion of each video so you can get an idea. I normally try to suggest free videos, but these are pretty specific. They would also be somewhat difficult to explain on the forums.

- OpenText.org Syntactically Greek NT: Clausal Analysis/Open Text.org Clauses
These are all very similar in what they do. The following videos cover them, and John gives practical examples. In fact you might find one of the complete series helpful. But of the three videos that have #04 in the title you only need one. Watch the demo on the site to assist.

This is a great resource in studying the Bible, and I found it very confusing until I attended John’s Webinar.

If you are interested in learning syntax searching you might find this helpful.
Unlocking the Syntax Search Engine(OT/NT)
I don’t know what type of Internet connection you have, but John provides a free Webinar on Mondays. The videos are recordings of them, that can be purchased and watched at your own pace. If you are able in addition to considering these videos, I would recommend attending his webinars.
For the videos that cover what you are asking about they should total $10 if you get one of the #04’s and the High Definition NT, and $15 if you add the syntax video. These should give you 2-3 hours of training and examples of how to use these resources and how they apply to Bible study. I hope this helps.
