Dave,
I did as you requested, and I am still not receiving the updates. I haven't gone through the entire list, but I know I should at least receive updates for the Amarna letters (2009-12-9) and Targums (2009-10-29).
FYI, there were no folders in the DownloadManager folder. Only the .db file.
I shut down L4, deleted the .db files, restarted L4, typed "Update Now"If you aren't receiving updates it might be the case that your BITS is disabled - its a windows services (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) go to My Computer right-click -> manage - go to Services and Applications and then open Services - Look for BITS and if it is disabled or not running enable it. Also it might be the case that it is running and the download jobs have failed - in that case make sure L4 isn't running and view this post http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8136/66083.aspx#66083 - the code to reset the list is bitsadmin /reset - then launch L4

Hi,
I've removed aforementioned db files, checked that BITS is running, bitsadmin is saying 0 jobs, and still no updates.
Help?

Are the Post Nicene Fathers coming out in full overtime or is it just these selected volumes? Will they show up in the Scholars library?

Hey Jason, are you Moore College's Jason Au?

I think mine finally updated, though I didn't do anything (like delete the files suggested) to cause it. I didn't have time to mess with it, and I didn't want to risk problems that I couldn't take time to fix at that point.
My most recent update now is 2/17/10 (236 files ... all from the theological journals (vol 1-5). I also have eleven files on 2/11.
So I am not sure if I am up to date or not.But at least something updated.
I wonder if Logos could do some sort of "resource check" program that would make it easy to compare your resources (date and filesize) with the master list on their server. That way, rather than "taking their word for it" (through the update feature), we could actually see it.

Deleting those files is very safe!

George,
Thanks for the info. BITS was not running, so I started it. I shut down L4, deleted \UpdateManager\updates.db and \DownloadManager\DownloadManager.db, restarted L4, typed Update Resources, but no updates are downloading.

George,
Does ZoneAlarm affect updates downloading?

George,
btw, bitsadmin /list shows zero jobs, and bitsadmin /reset says zero jobs canceled.

Make sure its firewall allows internet access by Logos4Indexer.exe & Logos4.exe

I have \Logos4\Logos4.exe and \Logos4\System\Logos4.exe, and both have Internet access. I don't have Logos4Indexer.exe.

Problem solved. I did two things differently. I set "Use Internet" bullet to "Yes", and logged into Logos when I started L4. I think the latter is what fixed the problem because I had changed the radio button setting before with no results.

Do the updated resources apply to certain customers? Because, I didn't receive them.

The resource updates are based on your licenses, the books unlocked in Logos. If you have both 'Use Internet' and 'Automatically Download Updates' set to Yes in Tools > Program Settings, you may not own the ones available in this update.

No, this is the latest shipped version. You'll occasionally see people posting here about 4.0b but that is still in beta testing, not shipped yet. You can upgrade to the beta if you want to be testing it, but there are still some bugs and you'd be expected to report them if you encounter them. It's pretty stable though, so if you're eager for some of the new features, you could give it a try. See here for info on how to get the beta (and cautions about using any beta software): http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8883.aspx. Here are the release notes showing the new features and bug fixes that have been added in 4.0b since 4.0a:
http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Beta_Release_Notes. Someone had put together a complete list from all of those here, though it's not completely up-to-date: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/12035/94117.aspx#941170 -
Is there any risk if I download it?What kind of change is going to happen?

Tes, yes there is a risk in using beta software. That is why I directed you to Bradley's link explaining the risks: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8883.aspx
Essentially, it means this is still potentially buggy software; you might lose some of your data. Yes, there can sometimes be bugs in any software (even the "stable" shipped releases), but software that is in beta testing is expected to still have bugs in it, so it comes with that caveat. It is not recommended to use it for any work that is mission critical. The changes are that you'll have some new features that weren't there before. The links I posted will tell you what some of those new features are. Sorry I don't have time to explain each one of them to you beyond what is already in those posts, but if you decide to download the beta and give it a try, we forum regulars can help you if something is confusing or doesn't seem to work right. There is not much documentation yet for the new 4.0b features, so if you think you are likely to need a lot of help you might want to wait until this release ships and the Help file has been updated (some of it has been updated bit by bit, but there are still gaps). The wiki pages and videos documenting new features will take a bit longer to come along.
