Could you clarify for me what you're asking? I just want to make sure I'm answering the right question.

It shows up in the dictionaries section of Factbook where relevant. I don't believe it has LCV tagging though. (LCV tagging disambiguates different concepts with the same spelling, and merges similar concepts expressed in different words).

I thought I had answered this but guess I forgot!

Basically, I do want it to show up in the Dictionaries section of the Factbook if I type in an entry that would be covered in EBNE. According to Mark, seems it is going to do it, so that's good.

One thing I am curious about. With EBNE, would my Factbook still default to mainly Biblical entries, or if I type in a non-Biblical entry into the Factbook (aka something you'd search for on Noet desktop) will those appear in Factbook as well using data from EBNE?

    Thanks!

    No.

The Factbook is limited to curated entries. There are a lot of curated entries, many thousands. They've been culled mostly from Bible dictionaries and biographical dictionaries/lists, and also include all Biblical Places, People, Things and Events.

Faithlife haven't (and almost certainly won't) be adding all entries from EB into this curated list, so you won't be able to use Factbook to look up an entry for 'chlorine' or 'Churchill, Winston' any time soon.

I too am disappointed in what downloaded. It might yet be the first product I have returned too. However I'm happy to wait and see what the official response from Faithlife is first.

I already have the "real" Encyc Brit. on my iPhone for $15 or something, so something is really out of balance here with what we got for the price.

Searching for "quark" on my iPhone app gets about 100 articles. In my new Logos download we get an article with 5 paragraphs.

Or try "Jesus Christ" on my iPhone app gives me 251 pages, loaded with graphics and many many links. EBNE is a rather poor article of little worth to most users of the Logos software and applications.

    I don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Mark,

Thanks for the link, as I had not seen that other thread. Even now I've not read the whole thing, but it seems Faithlife is true to their normal high standands of making things right when something gets messed up somehow.

So of course, thank you Faithlife, and maybe even thank you EB!

I now will not be returning the product, and in fact it seems I'm going to get a better deal than I expected, not the poor one it looked a day ago!

    Hi all,

Sorry for not responding yesterday. Given all of the confusion, I wanted to make sure I had all the information I could get before answering here.

Mark assessment of the Factbook is correct.

That said, the EBNE does have limited LCV tagging. It is limited to biblically related topics. So, e.g., there wouldn't be a concept for "chlorine" or "microscope."

Thanks for the info, and great post from Phil as well! I sure appreciate all what you're doing with this!
