Verbum Now customers may have heard that Logos Now and Logos Cloud customers will be transitioned into our new subscription product, Faithlife Connect, and that we’ll be discontinuing those programs over the next year.

We currently have no plans to discontinue Verbum Now and will not be transitioning Verbum Now customers into Faithlife Connect.

    Mr Gette,

Is it possible to convert an existing Logos Now subscription to a Verbum Now subscription?

I called the number above and was told that I am not able to switch to Verbum Now from Logos Now. I would have to wait until the Logos Now subscription runs out in Sept. The reason given was that my subscription to Logos Now began in Sept '16 and that order is too old to switch to Verbum Now.

My apologies, Fos, let me clarify:

You will keep your Logos Now subscription as it is until it expires, or until November 12, whichever date is later. At that time, you can switch to Verbum Now (if you still want to do so). Until then, you will be able to enjoy your Logos Now benefits just as you have been.

Please read this forum post for more details: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/160492.aspx

    No need to apologize :)

What you described is my new plan of action!

I debated long and hard when deciding to subscribe between Verbum Now and Logos Now. Since the Logos website said they were so similar and detailed only a couple of differences that seemed minor, I figured that a quality customer service policy would not view them as switching the Encyclopedia Britannica for World Book (yes I am that old) [:D]

The customer service was quality, they were very polite and did what they could within the corporate policy guidelines.

I just made the wrong choice way back then.

Unless the pricing for Verbum Now changes drastically, I will make the move at the end of the year.

Is there a comparison chart somewhere that compares Logos Now with Verbum Now?

    Are there any real differences?

What’s the difference between Logos Now and Verbum Now?

Verbum Now and Logos Now are mostly the same, except for a few differences in content and features. Verbum Now includes access to the Verbum Cloud Feature Set (which includes things like Catholic Topical Index and the Saints Database) and the Verbum Web App. Verbum Now and Logos Now have different free preview resources, but otherwise all special discounts and members-only pricing will generally be available to both Logos Now and Verbum Now members.

the above can be found here https://verbum.com/support/articles/verbum-faq

Thank you for the clarification. I guess my concern is that, with Logos Now set to disappear, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before Verbum Now follows suit. The Logos Now customers appear to be receiving vouchers/coupons to allow them to "re-decide" on whether they want to purchase their feature sets instead of renting them as they have been through Logos Now. Will Verbum Now subscribers get the same opportunity?

It's probably far too early to ask that question.

Faithlife Connect includes tonnes of Protestant materials for which Faithlife has not produced Catholic equivalents--like their entire Mobile Ed library, for example. Verbum Now should be safe for a long time, even if "Verbum Connect" becomes a possibility one day.

Verbum Now should be safe for a long time,

I believe Thomas when he says there are no current plans to discontinue Verbum Now but as a company Faithlife can not  be trusted so believe at your own peril Verbum Now, or even Verbum itself is safe for a long time.

but as a company Faithlife can not  be trusted so believe at your own peril Verbum Now, or even Verbum itself is safe for a long time

Given the recent pairing of Verbum to the St. Paul Center, we can safely assume that Faithlife has not given up on the Catholic market - even while they struggle to reach it.

And I do hope this is a successful partnership MJ, and I do believe FL want Verbum to be a success but I also can no longer take them a their word a company on any topic which is a shame because the company is made up of a lot of great people, but as a group they have lost their way.

I appreciate Verbum, Logos and Noet. I have no complaints with the migration from Logos Now to Faithlife Connect. I quite happily downloaded the two free books and Mobile Ed course. I have a full year to check things out with no additional cost.

I do believe in Faithlife and will keep my Faithlife Connect subscription. Also, I just signed up for Verbum Now to hopefully support Verbum going forward. I'd subscribe to Noet Now (if there was one) to support Noet going forward.

I use the Bible study software of three other companies. However, Faithlife represents the basket where I choose to keep 90% of my eggs.

For confirmation, are Verbum Cloud members safe as well? (I'm not one, but I thought I'd ask, in case it comes up.)

Some time ago (3-4 years?) Verbum had a program that rewarded current users with store coupons for referrals when the new user purchased a base package of a certain size or higher as I recall.  I benefited a few times from that program and, as a result, kept spreading the word actively.  Sadly, the program disappeared and I lost interest in working at promoting the software, even though I like and use it myself.  It seemed like we gave up on it too quickly.  Every once in a while the topic of bible study software for Catholics comes up and I do mention Verbum, but not nearly as much as I once did.

Are you aware that Customer Service is telling customers that Verbum Now will be transitioned to FLC in Nov 2018? Who has the story right here?

I don't know but in this matter I would trust Verbum staff over Logos customer support. I have previously found Logos customer support woefully uninformed re: Verbum. From an employee:

Verbum Now customers may have heard that Logos Now and Logos Cloud customers will be transitioned into our new subscription product, Faithlife Connect, and that we’ll be discontinuing those programs over the next year.

Hi Beloved, I'm sorry you were given incorrect information. Verbum Now is not being transitioned into Faithlife Connect, nor do we have any current plans of doing that. I've asked our Customer Service Manager to reach out to you and help you get into Verbum Now, and to inform the rest of the Customer Service team that Verbum Now is an option for customers. Thanks.

Yes, and it's absolutely nuts that Logos Now is too much of a burden to continue but Verbum Now is okay.

Question: what sort of monthly preview books do they give with V. Now? Are they the same as with Logos Now, or are they selected keeping a Catholic audience in mind?

I'm not sure about preview resources since I only have Verbum Now.  Here is the link that describes Verbum Now member benefits for February.  Maybe you can compare with Logos Now.

Thanks. The current preview resource is actually the set that was available on L.N. for November 2017.

Interesting. So Logos users have a backdoor of escape from the shock of Connect if we want it. Seems rather silly though to make us jump through the hoops to do it.

Let me ease fears about Verbum's future at Faithlife.  I'm the new(ish) Verbum Product Manger and I am responsible for Verbum within Faithlife.  Faithlife is continuing to invest in Verbum--present and future.  I am in the process of moving my family across the country to the Bellingham area.  I would not do so if I didn't think Faithlife was totally committed to Verbum.   I am diligently working to grow the Verbum library, establish new partnerships with publishers and authors, and, in short, get the best Catholic study software on the planet into the hands of as many Catholics as possible (which is what Bob has directly asked me to do).

Let me also reiterate: there are no plans to change anything with Verbum Now.  That is not to say that nothing will ever change, but no change is on the horizon for the foreseeable future.
