Okay - the last entry is very unlikely unless we talk the gourmet Bob P. into a church cookbook collection. And, yes, one is of historical interest but a bit on the diatribe side

I believe these are very basic resources. Has Logos/Verbum considered the possible markets being opened but the exodus of Christians from the MIddle East ... you could be their go to source for religious books.

A number of denominational presses are very small - they have very few titles available yet those titles are particularly interesting as they provide nearly everything available about the denomination. Others are small because most of the material about the denomination is not available in English. Often these materials are more large pamphlets rather than long studies so they aren't feasible on their own. But if you offered them as collections in the $30-40 range I suspect there would be a market.

You could test the market on the Eastern rites of the Catholic Church which are of interest to Catholics and Orthodox with additional current interest due to the Christian refugees flooding out of the Near East. Some publishers to consider:

The Copts have maintained an online free library for years see http://www.copticchurch.net/topics/thecopticchurch/index.html for how they choose to introduce themselves. You can view their services at https://www.facebook.com/pg/stmarkjc/videos/ For quick answers the Claremont Coptic Encyclopedia should help http://ccdl.libraries.claremont.edu/cdm/ref/collection/cce/id/844

The Copts are Oriental (Syriac) Orthodox not Eastern (Byzantine) Orthodox i.e.  "pre-Chalcedonian" - but both the Eastern Orthodox and the Catholics have signed ecumenical statements negating this divide. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was granted autocephaly in 1959,  Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church in 1998. So the Tewahedo Church must be included in any overview.

Copts more broadly include Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, and Catholic churches. Egypt also has branches of other churches in communion with the Copts. Base churches in order of number of adherents: Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria; Coptic Catholic Church; examples of churches in communion: Melkite Greek Catholic Church, Armenian Apostolic Church, Latin Catholic Church, Maronite Church, Syriac Catholic Church, Armenian Catholic Church, Chaldean Catholic Church, Syriac Orthodox Church . . .

From the ecumenical (Catholic) perspective documents regarding "Dialogue with the Oriental Orthodox Churches" are available at http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/sub-index/index_ancient-oriental-ch.htm For the Coptic Church that is a rite of the Catholic Church see http://www.copticcatholicpatriarchate.net/ProvaJ/

Beyond a variety of Bible texts, Faithlife carries a few somewhat relevant resources which should not be assumed to be unique to the Copts:

That should get you started. Don't read books about rather than by them until you are comfortable that you have the basic outlines of the beliefs and practices. And before reading Robert A. Morey, read his credentials from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Morey_(pastor)

There are a number of Coptic resources available in electronic form - some in public domain, some available for free, some very inexpensively distributed. Logos might well be able to negotiate a mutually beneficial arrangement with COePA(Coptic Orthodox Electronic Publishing, Australia and St. Shenouda the Archimandrite Coptic Society.

Suggested items:

Coptic New Testament (with "apocrypha" and multilingual beyond the Sahidica)
Monneret de Villard, Les Couvents Pres de Sohag
Mingarelli, Aegyptiorum Codicum Reliquiae I Venice
Budge, Earliest Known Coptic Psalter in Dialect of Upper Egypt
Christianity in Egypt
Coptic Agbeyia
O'Leary,  The Difnar (Antiphonarium of the Coptic Church,
Mikhail, N. Fundamentals of Reading ofCoptic Language
The Christian Orthodox e-Reference library (COeRL)
History of Christianity & its Monuments in Aswan …, by N.K. Daoud
Traditional Egyptian Christianity - History of the Coptic Orthodox Church, by Rev. T. Hall Partrick

This could be a very inexpensive foray into the Eastern Church. I'd pay.

And while Logos is at it adding Agnes Smith Lewis' A Palestinian Syriac Lectionary would be a nice addition to Syriac texts.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

And a response from a beloved voice, dearly departed to remind people what is being spoken of.

Peace to all!           And!                       Joy in the Lord!

I always share that I am part of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.  *smile*

There is only one true church composed of all true believers.

I don't want to get into any theological discussions that in any way abuse the Forum Guidelines.

But, today I want to share something that I find very beautiful.....    *smile*

MJ has given us some details about the term "catholic" in the past, e.g. this old, old post: (from her point of view)

     Robert Pavich: Roman Catholic

Robert, you may already know this but may I give a technical adjustment? Yes, I know this is 'off topic' but it's interesting trivia.

Roman Catholic is short-hand for Roman Rite Catholic. The Catholic Church includes:

    1. Roman liturgical tradition
      1. Latin (Roman) Rite
      2. Mozarabic Rite
      3. Anglican use (recently expanded)
      4. Ambrosian Rite
      5. Braga Rite
      6. Dominican Rite
      7. Carthusian Rite
      8. Carmelite Rite
    2. Alexandrian liturgical tradition
      1. Coptic Catholic Church
      2. Ethiopian Catholic Church
    3. Antiochian (Antiochene or West-Syrian) liturgical tradition
      1. Maronite Church
      2. Syriac Catholic Church[
      3. Syro-Malankara Catholic Church
    4. Armenian liturgical tradition:
      1. Armenian Catholic Church
    5. Chaldean or East Syrian liturgical tradition:
      1. Chaldean Catholic Church
      2. Syro-Malabar Church
    6. Byzantine (Constantinopolitan) liturgical tradition:
      1. Albanian Greek Catholic Church
      2. Belarusian Greek Catholic Church
      3. Bulgarian Greek Catholic Church[
      4. Byzantine Church of the Eparchy of Križevci
      5. Hungarian Greek Catholic Church
      6. Italo-Albanian Catholic Church
      7. Macedonian Greek Catholic Church
      8. Melkite Greek Catholic Church
      9. Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic
      10. Russian Catholic Church
      11. Ruthenian Catholic Church
      12. Slovak Greek Catholic Church
      13. Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
And yes, there are a few others but I can't find their names at the moment.

So I guess there is 'catholic' (single, early church), Catholic (American default of Roman Catholic), CATHOLIC (all the rites that somehow ultimate are in communion with the Bishop of Rome a.k.a. the Pope) and CATHOLIC (add in schismatics but not heretics)

    Now I promise to sit down and shut up.Zip it!            * * * * *

Just smiled again, MJ!  As I did the first time I read it... O.K.!               My gift!            Particularly to MJ and Damian, Brother and Sister!  *smile*  BTW   I am Lutheran! I've been to the Sistine Chapel!  What a wonderful experience!      Now, courtesy of the Vatican, you can go there too!  Right now! Be patient with yourself as you navigate this web site.  Move your mouse around.  Fantastic technology!  You can see the ceiling also, the floors, the walls, zoom in and out, listen to marvelous music on your speakers.    Wow! http://www.vatican.va/various/cappelle/sistina_vr/index.html

    All look interesting

Maybe we can finally get the Catholic Encyclopedia—which I think has been in the bidding stage for literally over ten years 😉

    It's working for me, too.

(I am, however, still awaiting the addition of the Eastern Rite packages to the "Catholic Collections" menu and the "Compare Software Levels" page. I'm sure those will be updated soon.)
