Mark Barnes: Question on Subscription Tiers

    Hi Jonathan

connect subscribers need to wait a bit longer for their deal according to Mark.

So, I have a question, because up until about 10 minutes ago, the subscription page showed the $250/annual tag for Pro, and is now showing a price of $99/year price. Is the connect subscription price going to be lower than that? Or was my page just not refreshing properly, possibly from a cached version?

Check the discount page again. It appears like the bug has been fixed. The MAX discount rate is available for those who have the Pro version. I am a Connect subscriber without ever purchasing Logos 10 by itself.

I checked today. It still shows full prices for me.

    Mark said:

Yes, it seems fixed.  Now for those who have L10, Faithlife Connect and were early subscribers, this thread seems to indicate there is a further discount we are still waiting for.

I have L10, Logos Pro early access, I've been a logos connect subscriber for years (expires March/April 2025?) and I own the full features set.

So, is this the unlucky combo that prevents me from seeing any discounts, and that some say to wait to upgrade to Max? No one seems to mention they have all of these that have upgraded unless I missed it in the myriad of threads.[:D]

This is my situation as well, except that my Connect expires in August. I am asking the same question. However, I see a discount but am unclear if there will be a further discount.

    Thank you Jerry.

I had that delema back in the Spring when Logos Pro (early access) rolled out and my Connect subscription came due. I figured or was hoping the NEW Logos would come out in August or September and knowing FaithLife had always treated me very fairly over the years, I renewed Connect for another year with the confidence that they would somehow make it right later.

However yours may be in or pretty close to the launch date time frame. It's a nail biter[:|]

I'm curious though that you having the same products as I do, are seeing a discount but I don't on the options page. I wonder if there is another problem afoot.

My Connect expires in October, so I"m wondering about that as well. Here is the screenshot from my subscription page for the Logos premium/pro/max:

    Thanks Jonathan.

I just checked mine again and it now shows the same as yours.

I think if one wanted to know if there was any additional credit for remaining months left paid on Connect as of right now, maybe a call to a sale rep would help. But I have not sought out that option yet. I've been taking the wait and see route until they get more of the details worked out.

It's got to be a real challenge. I give them credit for trying to make this work for everyone and trying to communicate it, even when it's not all worked out yet. I don't know of any other company that would bother.

The page should be showing the correct prices for L10 Full Feature Set owners and Connect subscribers. That's $9.99/month for Pro and $12.99/month for Max. (Not all Connect subscriptions qualify for the discount.) We're not anticipating any further reductions in this price.

The page was showing an incorrect price if you already had a Logos Pro subscription. That was fixed late on Monday.

That makes sense from how it was loading on my page. Now just to wait to see what comes about for those with active annual subscriptions to Connect. Thank you Mark.

My hope is that when Customer Service contacts me regarding my options that my recent renewal of Logos Now would be considered, at least for the first year of Logos Pro.

So, I am a little confused (as a Connect subscriber myself - paid once annually - due again in Oct). What is the transition necessary if Mark has said "We're not anticipating any further reductions in this price"? What are Connect subscribers like me waiting for? I have read many of these threads and do not see what the wait is for. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Due to some previous posts in this thread (look on page 2), I was under the impression that for those who have active Connect subscriptions there would be something worked out so there wasn't overlap of the two. I hope that makes sense.

I am confused too. And I would like to know something about a 2-year pre-pay option. That would work best for me right now. Either way, I am subscribing as soon as my current Connect sub is up next month.

Logos Pro New Features & Improvements

These Logos Pro features require a license. If you don’t already subscribe, you can get a temporary license for the features marked with an asterisk during the beta period by becoming a follower of this Faithlife group. The license will expire when v35 is released to the stable channel.

    Hi Mark,

Can you please clarify, once and for all, the following ambiguities:

    1. Which Connect subscribers will not qualify for these discounted prices?

    2. If I do not own the L10 Full Feature Set, will I lose Auto Translation feature unless I subscribe to Max?

    3. How do I know for sure whether I'm currently owning or renting the Auto Translation feature?

    4. Can you please share the rationale behind putting Auto Translation -- a currently available L10 feature -- into the Max tier and thus taking away an existing L10 feature from current users unless they pay for the Max subscription level? This is very inconsiderate and unfair to loyal, bilingual users (and testers) of Logos.

    Thanks,

    Peter

But if my Connect subscription is already paid for in full until October, why do I need to wait until something for Connect subscribers is announced? Are you saying that my Connect subscription will convert into something else which would be for a lesser amount than those already announced? I am just not sure what I am supposed to be waiting for...

I sure hope I am misunderstanding you, because my Faithlife Connect subscription came up for renewal on May 28th and I was debating on dropping the Connect and just going with the Early access Pro but I was told by your team to just go ahead and reup to Connect and just test drive the Pro and once it switched over I would be given a deal because I am currently subscribed. But what it seems you are saying is that my $99.99 that I just paid for Connect on May 28th is just going out the window and now I have to fork out another $99.99 for Logos Pro.

If that is what you are saying, then I am saying you have cheated me and i'm not sure I want to be a Logos customer anymore. I sure hope I am getting something wrong here.

This is not official, just my understanding. I think when you switch over, your unused portion of the Connect subscription will either be refunded or applied to the Logos Pro subscription.

I can answer two of your questions:

    2. If I do not own the L10 Full Feature Set, will I lose Auto Translation feature unless I subscribe to Max?

    3. How do I know for sure whether I'm currently owning or renting the Auto Translation feature?

If you own the L10 Full Feature Set you own the Auto Translation feature on Desktop (as well as Web and Mobile).

If you don't own the L10 Full Feature Set you will need to subscribe to Max (if that is the only tier with the feature).

I was officially informed that I "will automatically be migrated from Faithlife Connect to Logos Pro sometime between now and the official launch of Logos Pro in the fall. (We'll give you plenty of advanced notice via email.) Any unused portion of your Faithlife Connect subscription will be carried over into your Logos Pro subscription, so the investment you made in Connect won't be "going out of the window"."

So, I can live with that. It just sounded like I was losing that $99 investment for Connect.

That's what I am hoping for. One option: For the remaining months of my Logos Now subscription, I get the discounted Logos Pro Subscription at half the cost. But that's probably difficult to automate and likely requires manual processing by Customer Service.

EDIT: I should have read the other posts as well: It looks like an even better deal might be in the works as what I suggested.

If you own the L10 Full Feature Set you own the Auto Translation feature on Desktop (as well as Web and Mobile).

I've seen this accidental equivalence several times ... Full Feature and AutoTranslation/Desktop. I have AutoTranslation/Desktop, but not Full Feature.  Which won't demand Max (grandfathered credits)?

I'm annoyed that I'll be forced into Max just to keep using the Auto Translate feature, which I could just use other free translation tools by copy and paste.

Hopefully Mark Barnes will clarify whether that's true (must get Max to get Auto Translate)...

One Q I did not answer fully:

If you don't own Logos 10 FFS then it appears you have a Connect subscription that gives you the access:

    image

So you may be forced to subscribe to Max, but you may be eligible for the discount (to be confirmed).

Owning the L10 FFS frees you from the uncertainties, as you won't need Max for the Translate feature and you will you will receive a discount on a subscription.

But if the translate is cloud based or AI based it will not fall under the fallback license and will require subscription. Now which subscription I guess is another question. Seems if you owned it in FFS then even the lesser subscriptions would suffice, but that is not official.

Although fallback licenses won't include auto-translation, we won't remove that feature from people who purchased it with L10. Usage limits will differ between subscription and L10-ownership, though.

It is also in other, e.g. language-specific Features Sets as well as in Verbum Academic and Logos Academic Feature Sets. That's how I became an owner of it.

Note that if someone who is not a subscriber bought any L10 base package at Gold level or above, they bought the FFS along with the library. But you can easily go to the product page of FFS and see if you own it and if not, whether you own the automatic translation feature:

    Thank you, NB.Mick.

Mine is showing I don't own it, and it will cost me $29.99 (per platform) to purchase it.

But since this feature is not available for individual purchase, I would have to pay $29 extra per month (the price difference between Pro and Max) in order to get this one feature. And after I stop paying for subscription, I would still not own this cloud-based feature in the fallback scenario. Talk about unfairness.

I think once they deactivate this feature from my account later in the year when they transition from Connect to the new plans, I will just use external free translation tools for this need.

    Very disappointing.

If you really want to own that feature, you might want to look at your dynamic pricing of the feature sets that contain it (the academic ones I already own, so I can only show the d.p. of FFS), the comparison is found here

You don't pay the subscription for every platform. This feature has been split up per platform so Logos can put it into varying levels of base packages and feature sets (you see in my screenshot that Logos Academic has Automatic Translation only on Desktop, whereas Verbum Academic and FFS contain the feature also in the Web App and on mobile.

Actually, $30/yr extra assuming you are entitled to the discount.

What is your price for L10 FFS (which will get you Auto Translate on all 3 app platforms)? At the moment there is no discount, but expect a good one near Fall.
