Stop opening Factbook automatically from the Command Box

Please stop Factbook from opening when I type a verse in the Go Command Box. Open Factbook only when I choose to open it... not in the Command Box.
Please.

xn = Christan  man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

This is related to https://feedback.faithlife.com/boards/logos-desktop-app/posts/tweaks-to-the-go-box-drop-down-list  which seeks to relegate Factbook priority in the GO Box. But this has merit as Factbook is not suited to the design intent of the GO Box (see my Comment there).

This may be too broad a request; I like having Factbook open when I enter a name or place. But I agree Factbook is overriding complete commands too frequently.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

It's like Factbook is being forced on us whether we want it or not. Then we have to close it to go on with what we are seeking. "Make work interruptus".

@xnman  It would be a much better experience if Factbook access was removed because less "training" would be involved.

I have come to appreciate the overhaul of Factbook, and I've found it a helpful starting place for many studies.

When the GO Box recognizes that the input is a Scripture reference, Factbook entries should only appear after all other options (such as opening a Bible or a Passage Study Layout).
  • Factbook is superficial and should not load automatically from search box. Interested in bible and commentaries on the     bible, not the dreck that factbook offers.

This should be marked complete as Factbook already does not open automatically. Factbook, like all other tools should be able to be opened from the Command box. Inconsistency in this would be detrimental to the application.

I fail to see how "Factbook, like all other tools" should need to be called from the Go Box. That definitely would greatly cause confusion in the already confusing Go Box.

xn = Christan  man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

  • This request should be marked as complete. The Factbook does not open automatically, but only upon request. It may be perceived by some to be automatic as a consequence of the "hurried" use of the Enter key , but that does not make it so.

It turns out that a bug was causing the Go Box to prefer the Factbook even when it wasn't the user's most used action. A fix is coming in Logos 9.17. See this thread: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/209437.aspx
  • Also a double click on a word in Scripture would be better for opening the Factbook. A single click should open my Word Study panel which I have linked to the text panel instead of opening the Factbook.

Factbook often opens when I don't want it.  Please accept this recommendation.
  • I have to agree with Dave Hooton on this. I don't think Factbook belongs in the Go Box.
  • Yes please stop Factbook from automatically opening. On the rare occasions I have used it, the facts were useless for what I was looking for

@SineNomine  Agreed. If I search a topic or person or place, opening factbook is fine. If it's a passage or verse, it should default to just opening your preferred Bible.
  • Have you ever been bothered by a persistent mosquito at a picnic? Welcome to Factbook. Even though I'm sitting down to a great feast (the rich resources of Logos), Factbook insists in buzzing around, interfering with every search. I keep swatting it away, but it keeps on coming back, like an unwanted, unwelcome mosquito. Please disable Factbook from Logos altogether. It is an unnecessary layer of interference, an obstacle to research, an annoying barrier that slows my ability to enjoy the wonderful feast in Logos. Thanks.
  • So glad to find others who are experiencing the same frustration with Factbook popping up from the Go Box when you hit "return." Annoying mosquito at the nice picnic was a great analogy! I had thought that MP Seminars said that whichever you last used, would come up by default the next time, but Factbook comes up every time unless you scroll down the dropdown menu to "search..." Is there some way to enable users to permanently disable Factbook in Settings if they don't want it?

It is already an icon link on every toolbar. I have never used it from the Go box. I personally would like it removed from both and leave it in the Tools Menu. I'll go get it when I want it. I use Notes all the time but have to make my own short cut for it.

This should be cancelled as it misunderstands how the Command box works - it doesn't automatically open Factbook. It would be appropriate to request a change in the prioritization of Factbook in the dropdown select list.
